Really like your paint choices on that Cyclops. What kind of turquoise did you use on that armor? It's very Tzeentchian. Would make a great champion of Chaos.

I ought to try something similar with one of the plastic ones I have laying around...

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

The Skorne cyclops and the Dark Mariner(s fan) are both very vibrant and inspiring. I look forward to seeing the first one in person.

What range of paints do you use?

Have been watching one of these on eBay for like a year, love that mini, just need an excuse to summon one ... Yours looks great, and reminds me that I appreciate your randomness, as you paint quite a few lesser seen minis that I've earmarked for Counts As purposes but would otherwise never see reference shots of

Also the Reiver looks great in that camo

It's probably because I do more painting than gaming that I have such a random collection. I have a habit of just grabbing whatever looks interesting to me. Honestly, I think Highlord Tamburlaine has a more random collection than me.

That's Vallejo Emerald. Funny thing is that I actually used the wrong paint here. I meant to use Vallejo Turquoise, which was what I used on my other Cyclops. It turned out looking good though, so I don't really mind that I used thr wrong color.

Mostly Vallejo. The washes I use are GW's though. The Dark Mariners are actually painted almost entirely using washes.

Thanks. I painted up another Reiver last night, but because of internet issues, I wasn't able to post him. Cruddy phone pic for now, actually camera photos later.

I'm really thinking camo is the way to go with these guys. I should actually be starting my regular Primaris Marines tonight as well. They should (hopefully) go quick.

I'm really digging the Camo done on these newer two. Who needs camo when your a genetically altered freak wearing tank armor and carrying a rocke launcher?

Deep wars model is awesome. All done in washes you say?

Aside from the metallics and a few details here and there. Technically, the blues were done with a glaze since GW's blue wash is garbage, but yeah, the main colors were done using washes.

That's a technique I really need to try. Was the mini primed white first?

The tentacles, exposed flesh, coral bits and glowy bits were primed white, the carapaces were primed in bone. I also did a drybrus of the bone bits in the base color after the green wash had dried.

Here's the promised clearer turnaround of the Reiver Sergeant.

And just finished tonight, my first Intercessor! Obviously, the base isn't finished yet, but everything else is.

Whipped up another Intercessor tonight. One more of them to go.

Since I currently only have three, I figure it's cool to try and give them a bit of individuality. So, that's why the first one has the kill tally on his helmet. This guy gets bloody hand-prints on his helmet and pauldron. What should I give the Sergeant? I'm tempted to put a smiley face on his armor somewhere.

Obviously he's not that good at his job if the enemy got their had on him . Looks very convincing though with the bloody print .

Crappy cell phone pic for now, full turnaround after I get home from work. Here's the first of my regular Plague Marines, not counting the Blightbringer. As with the Blightbringer though, I'm going for the Weeping Legion's colors. This time, I managed to find a paint that very closely match GW's Rakarth Flesh, so I was able to get it pretty close to the official scheme this time.

I like the glowing blue eyes on him, very different from nurgle I usually see with orange or reds. Also nice smooth and clean armor panels, once again very different from most traditional nurgle dudes .

I seem to recall the Chaos guys in THQ's Space Marine having glowing blue eyes. I thought it was a neat look, so that's why I went with it here. The color scheme I went with is almost exactly the same tgat Warhammer TV showed for doing the Weeping Legion, I just left out the highlights for the darker green trim. I'd thought about making them grimier, but with how detailed the sculpts are these guys, it would probably have just made them too busy. So, that's why I stuck with keeping their plates clean. My old Plague Dogs though were quite filthy.

Oh, something interesting, particularly about this Plague Marine, is that his headsculpt is almost EXACTLY the same as one of Maxmini's Not-Plague Marine heads. The only real difference is that GW added that central breathing tube to it.

Tonight I'll have pics of the completed Intercessor Sergeant and my second Plague Marine.

Here are the completed Primaris Raptor Sergeant and the second Plague Marine.

I couldn't quite figure out how I should go about denoting him as being the Sergeant. Sure, his helmet is off, but I felt like he needed something a little... more. I know Primaris Marine Sergeants are supposed to have red helmets, but that didn't seem quite like something the Raptors would do. Big 'ole target on their CO, right there. So, what I decided to do was take a page from GW's pre-Bling Marine days of Rogue Trader. There's an image that shows officer markings for several chapters and the markings consist of a simple yellow band across the officer's helmet, just above the eyes. I think there's also supposed to be markings on the cuffs as well. So, I went with that. You can kind of see the yellow cuff markings in some of the pics, but here's the helmet.

Simple and unobtrusive.

And here's the second Weeping Legion Plague Marine.

I like how dynamic he is. I doubt we'll be seeing poses like that when the multipose guys come out.

You seem to be enjoying the Dark Imperium stuff you've painted.

Maybe we can try out that starter set thingee you got this weekend then?

They look good.

I'll just repost what I put in the Mecha thread in N& R.

Not a bad little kit, but much smaller than I was expecting. It's about a full head shorter than most 1/144 Gundam kits. For a Kotobukiya model, it's surprisingly simplistic. Most of their stuff uses tiny, minute little pieces, but not this kit. The way the hands are designed is interesting as well; the fingers are all one piece that clips into the palm. Much better method of doing the hands than some of their previous kits. I would say that there are two issues with the kit. 1)if you want it to look like the boxart, you absolutely have to paint it. Most of the white bits in the boxart and in the box photos are not present on the kit. Same with the clear blue bits. Thankfully, it still looks good even if you don't paint it. 2) the hips. I wish they used a system like Bandai's been using on their HG kits lately. It really needs a thigh swivel. Instead, its hips are basically using a ball & socket style joint, so it limits the hip mobility somewhat.

Overall though, definitely a good model. Pick one up!

I meant to reply to your post, but I was in a hurry to get out the door this morning. I can absolutely post a size comparison for you. I'll try and shoot one for you later tonight.

Thanks Grimdork. I picked up a Reiver box and some Inceptors from the Dark Imperium box over the weekend. So, should be more 8th edition stuff coming. Too bad I already started some other projects before I got them. Gotta get them done first before I can go back to the Raptors and Weeping Legion.

Joerugby, as requested, a size comparison between a Primaris, an "average" GW human, and both of my completed Nexus aliens. The Scout was unfortunately the only GW human I had around in the immediate area when I took the photo. Hope that helps though.

I got two of my three Inceptors done tonight. The Sergeant still has a ways to go. I should have him done this weekend though.

I decided to not go with individual markings on these guys aside from the checker board locations. It's also a little hard to see, but I've given all of my Primaris units differently colored purity seals. The Intercessors have blue, the Reivers have red, and the Inceptors have purple.
