There is a thread with pretty much the same title, on this very page.

Edit: My bad The other thread asks for favourite ruleset, whereas yours asks for the favourite wargame. There is a difference after all.

Mine has to be Fantasy, though I don't play any GW games anymore.

I'm a little confused as why you have the LotR skirmish game up there twice. Is it supposed to be WotR and the Hobbit?

At any rate, best system they have. I do really enjoy fantasy as well, though.

Specialist Games.

The core rule set which originated in Fantasy and Rogue Trader was designed for small to medium sized skirmish games and therefore unsurprisingly, it works best in Mordheim, Necromunda etc

Plus you don't need a stupid amount of miniatures to play a game that's fun and unpredictable.

40k. It's the boring answer, but I love it.

40k. I honestly believe it's one of the best mini wargames out there. I love the ever evolving nature of the rules, I enjoy the models, like the background, and think the system is a solid one. Although it has rules issues, and a very dated line of models, my second choice would be Necromunda.

I voted 40K. However, If Blood Bowl would have been up there, that would have got the vote. I know you meant specialist games would have surmised blood bowl, BFG, Inquisition, others, and even the crap dreadfleet.

I don't know anything about LOTR or the Hobbit game. Blood bowl is played more on a weekend at the local store than those two games combined all year long.

Will be interesting to tally up the number of newer gamers, who will essentially just be choosing between 40k/WFB (possibly LoTR), compared to those who have played for 10 years + and remember those specialist games so fondly.

Epic (both Space Marine and Armageddon), Necromunda and Battlefleet Gothic. All of these games are over a decade old (Space Marine is closer to 2) and all of them are much better rulesets than the dross being churned out of Lenton since the third edition of 40K was spawned in the late 90's.

Why is the Horus Heresy an option? Thats a FFG game.....

I can't pick between Inquisitor and Battlefleet Gothic, but thankfully your poll means that I don't have to!

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Well of course they are, they could well win this poll but its not really fair, I mean the variation present in the specialist games pretty much guarantees that they'll do well. At least 8 games isn't it? Warmaster, Epic, Inquisitor, BFG, Necromunda, Bloodbowl, Mordeheim and Gorka Morka. I may be forgetting another. But you see what I mean.

edit: knew I'd forgotten one, thanks welsh furey

I went digging through my pile of free GW PDFs and ran into Dark Future... playing a game this week, with card stock models from One Monk.

Yeah... some of GW's most neglected games are among their most fun games to play.

40k, there is a reason it is still a juggernaut in the games industry. It is good, Has a company of experienced modelers(Even if you don't like how a model looks or it is poise, yu have to agree GW guys know how to sculpt)
It also has a ruleset that allows for an ever evovling and changing of the rules(Oh i need to bring Anti-air now, Oh I dont need anti Air, Oh I need Melta)
I think 40k has still a decade or more to go IMO. Even Longer if GW stops wearing their pants on their head.
