My first game as chaos I gave a gift to one of my noise marine guys. He turned into a daemon prince. I charged a few meganobs and was killed in the combi skorcha over watch. Very sad day.

I like the buffs, but it's hard to keep them straight. My Noise Champions tend to accumulate them, but I usually can't remember who has what after a few turns.

I once got Dark Apotheosis twice and had 3 DPs on the table in a 1,000 point game. That was about the best of it.

It certainly does not make up for Chapter Tactics.

I love my dry erase board- with so many characters/psykers with Boon/etc I am bound to have some book-keeping going on.

I did have a 2+ Cosmic Fate Ahriman once. Kinda fun.

I play against lots of Imperial Guard vehicles so I never really get to use the boon table -_- anytime I destroy the vehicle the explosion kills everyone in it

I have had Ahriman turn himself into a spawn on several occasions.

During a tournament a couple weeks ago, I was playing Thousand Sons vs Blood Angels (1k pts).

I rolled on the chart, and my Terminator Sorcerer became stubborn due to the chart. Roll for warlord, and I get number 6 in the list which allows to reroll boon results. Then roll for psychics, and one of the TS sorcerers rolled the Gift of Mutation, so I figure I would keep it.

Turn one, cast Gift, and my Sorcerer gets no gift, re-roll, and now he is stubborn, again.

Turn two, cast Gift, turn into a spawn. Re-roll, and now he is stubborn, yet again!

Turn 3, cast gift, and the same as turn one. At this point I am ready to chuck my dice in the garbage can. Then, during turn 3, my opponent charges, and the sorcerer accepts the challenge. He happens to kill the Sargent, and I roll on the table. Yet again, no gift. I re-roll. Demon Prince!

Turn 4 starts up, and I immediately commence in wiping out squad after squad of marines with rapid firing Infirno Bolts and then charging in with the new DP. He lived until T6 when he was taken out to overwatch and his 2+/3++ got turned into a 5++.

Thus is the will of Tzeentch...

Life is a game, Play to have fun!

I enjoyed watching my mate MarsNZ roll shrouded for his lord with 30 ablative wound cultists. They wandered through area terrain until they could deliver the stabby lord to a suitable target.

Well, I battled a flying circuit in an RTT with my Necrons and during the game an additional unit of Plague Bearers appeared at the battlefield (plus the three PB packs in the army list). This way really annoying. But I managed to wipe all of them out winning the game.

I just rolled +1 toughness for gift of mutation on my nurgle biker lord....T7 nurgle lord rolling around...Hells yea. Dem 3's.

But it game terms it didn't do anything as his biker escort still absorbed all the hits and he killed everything he fought without issue. But still cool.

I love the chaos boon table via Gift of Mutation, it's like gambling before the game. But I really hate reminding other Chaos players that after they just rolled a 66, that they have to re-roll, since you can't get spawnhood or dark apotheosis before the game. I know the feeling. One 4000 point game, out of 9 rolls for Gift of Mutation on various squads, I rolled 65-66 3 times. Gah!

Chaos is the only sanity left.

Around my shop, the tales of Spawn-riman are legendary (or depressing, depending on how you tell it)... As a dedicated Thousand Sons player, I absolutely hate the chart, even when it helps me. I can't help but feel bad for the poor guy who lined up across the table from my 365 point Daemon Prince of Tzeentch, who then rolled +1 Armor Save on his Gift of Mutation AND Iron Arm. 2+ rerollable armor, combined with Iron Arm, meant my prince walked through his entire army singlehandedly.

I've rolled on the table about a dozen times, and never got anything useful. I got +1 BS for Huron (who doesn't have a shooting attack)

Huron is a random psyker and can end up having a psykic shooting attack
He also has a heavy flamer(which doesnt use BS)
He is BS 5 so getting +1 BS means he can reroll a one and hope to get a 6 on those PSA.

Not useless, just only of very minor value and not really worth keeping track of.

With CSM I feel there is too much book keeping to be fun.

I have had a very good experience with the boon table. I've had a cultist champion turning into a daemon prince, typhus gaining a 1+ Armour save multiple champions gaining 2+ armour saves and feel no pain.

He's already got Terminator armor. Getting an extra +1 on armor doesn't help him. If you're running around saying you can have 1+ armor, you're cheating. BRB clearly states that no matter the save, a 1 always fails.

It usually ends up boning me or doing nothing lol

The times I can remember:

Berserker got +1 to his BS (this has happened a few times actually) - not a bad thing but not worth keeping track of
Kharn has been Demon Princed at the worst possible time twice and been killed for it (I still don't get how they could set it up that becoming a DP could make you WORSE ...)
Abaddon (pre-FAQ) got spawned once because he shot a Scout sgt. Guess that's what I get for wasting him on scouts though ... lol

Those are the more memorable ones. The other results were either pointless, or we just got tired of book keeping and agreed to ignore the rule.

Edit: I just googled ablutions and apparently it does not including dropping a duece. I should have looked it up early sorry for any confusion. - Baldsmug

Small note, you have to be in a challenge to get the boon table. I WISH I could get it by precise shooting leaders.

Best I had was a Cultist Champion turning into a Daemon Prince whilst he was holding the Relic (Mission 6).

Precision Shot with his pistol, hit the IG Vet Sargent, killed him and got Dark Apotheosis! This was after he had been with the Relic for a few turns.

Second best was Abaddon turning into a Daemon Prince (with all four Daemon of Special rules) and subsequently destroying a Landraider.

Actually by raw, he gets none of those because there's no Daemon Ascendant, and so had to pick one. (Before the update to where he finally stopped turning into a spawn or prince)

Don't have my book in front of me but I'm pretty sure you CAN get them via precision shot. Champions of Chaos says you HAVE to challenge/accept challenges and is seperate from the table. The rules for which (if I'm not mistaken) only say that you roll on the table "When your character kills an enemy character". I'm not sure that it specifies how he has to kill them.

Holy crap! Thank you all. I have been playing this wrong since the codex came out. I will now remember that I'm going to get a lot more rolls!

Probably the single most common mistake people make when using that book. I did the same thing at first. Well hopefully the gods smile upon your additional offerings! lol

Best rolls I've gotten, and surprisingly frequently (like 1 in 3 games, I've rolled 64 before the game has started) has been Multiple Boons. What's been funny with this one though is that while I've gotten it a surprising number of times, I've almost always got crap afterwards and then maybe 1 good thing like +1 Armor Save or EW.

Best ever was running around a 20 man blob of cultists with a Dark Apostle in the middle and for some reason my Cultist Champ was invincible. He challenged 3 times (by the by, thanks for that update about Precision Shooting getting you Boons. Played that wrong too. lol) and just kept getting better and better in close combat until finally he was hitting on 3's (+1 WS), Wounding on 2's (Fleshbane) and then I believe he got Init + 1 so he was faster than the Orks I was plowing through.

After a while, I let my Dark Apostle start taking challenges again because the Cultist Champ just wouldn't die. XD

No Spawn or Daemon Prince yet though, knock on wood. And not nearly as many Worthless Tributes either as I would have thought. Just a lot of abilities for the wrong guys, like Tac-Marine Champ getting Frozen Aura or something. ><

So against an orc/CSM pair (1500 each) where the CSM (Black Legion) had Abby in an LR, a HellTurkey, 2xChosenx5, and the rest of his points into a DP of Tzeech with everything it seemed (Black Mace, ML3, etc).

The DP gets Multiple Rewards before the game starts.
Then he gets Multiple Rewards from that Multiple Rewards. Several good stuff (fortunately no +1 SV)

Then he gets Iron Arm, Endurance, and Gift for powers.

So we start (Eldar w/ an ally using GK). We put everything we have into the DP, and get it down to 1 wound. It rolls regain HP from GoM.

Next round, *every* aspect warrior in my Fire Dragon squad rolls a 1 on its Hit roll. Takes us 2 rounds to get it back down to 1 hp.

Again, it rolls full HP from GoM....

That one DP took everything we threw at it, but we simply couldn't down it. DP of Tzeech with Black Mace is just scary...

Okay, correct me if I'm wrong on this one too, but I thought that DPs couldn't get further Boons. The Champion of Chaos special rule on p28 says that only people with this special rule can earn extra through combat. DPs can buy one gift to begin with, but that is all they get, since they don't have the Champion of Chaos rule on their listing.

Am I right or wrong?
