Assault Vest and turn her into a special wall/special attacker.
The problem with Goodra's Gooey ability is that it requires you to be hit by a contact move, all of which (correct me if there are exceptions) are physical, and Goodra just doesn't have the physical bulk to effectively and reliably make use of that.

Oh to be honest I just wanted to have gooey goodra because I like goodra a lot xD. In all honesty I feel that sap sipper is her best ability (unless rain dance but rain dance has a nerf which would probably make a tank not as attractive since tanks are to stall and force swap outs). I assume gooey could be used to at least mess with any physicals Automatically Appended Next Post: In terms of goodra... perhaps assault vest
Gooey (hold on let me explain! It's not the best thing ever but the hope for Goodra is to make it a hit and run pokemon that tanks a shot, dishes out, and swaps along with
HP248/252SpAttk/8Def to give it some general health
-Thunderbolt to counter togekiss and azumarill
-Fireblast (counter steel)
-Dragon Pulse

Rain dance wasn't nerfed, just permanent weather starters. Which was a much needed nerf (Stealth Rock should have also been nerfed to only last 5 turns... that would have been fantastic). Just because games aren't entirely dominated by weather does not mean it's been made useless.
I played rain dance back in 3rd and 4th gen, when there was no Politoad or Ninetails with automatic weather, and the most we could make it last for was 8 turns, and did just fine. With 6 gen looking to move back into a much slower pace than 5th, rain, sun, and sand should be able to thrive just fine.
Hail is garbage though.

Given that they took the time to nerf steel, give a minor buff to fire, I'm somewhat perplexed that Ice is still so terrible. I mean would it kill them to have given Ice a fairy resistance, bug, or water? Some of that love could have really boosted ice as a more viable typing and helped a lot of otherwise decent mon. Took me 4-5 hours to catch a gligar with Immunity.
Also, the more I think about using Aegislash, the more I'm discouraged. Sure, it's got amazing typing and it is simply awesome from a capability standpoint, but he also happens to be one of the most predictable and potentially easily countered pokemon in the entire game. I'm not sure if it'll be the right pokemon for my team.

Don't get me wrong. Perma weather needed the nerf (and so does stealth rock). That being said I am new to competitive and am not sure how well Goodra fits in with a rain dance team. Also, I agree that I wish ice could have been buffed.

If she has high SpD but mediocre D, then forget Protect and get a move that ups Defense. Attach Leftovers and just start bulking up as Toxic eats your opponent. Pure Dragon does only have 3 weaknesses after all, and plenty of resistances. Just be sure before you set up if possible that you opponent is aware that you have a good Steel on your team to tank the switch if necessary (and that of course means putting a good Steel on your team ).

Not a waste of time at all, the games been played obsessively for a few days anyway. If it starts working drop me a PM and we can try this again if you don't get your own/better one.

WAIT WHAT!? Oh my gosh I need to get a banette just to pet and feed it now xD
The oddest pokemon I've pet so far is duoblade. It doesn't open its mouth, you can't pet its cloth.... it actually popped up loking from a corner and I was like... it was actually cute for a moment. Wat

That's what i thought when I saw a mini video of it. Actually, a surprising amount of effort's been put into this. Touching pikachu/emolga/anything with thunder cheeks on the cheeks shocks you, pokemon like slugma mostly just burn you because of all the fire, most of the "pet" looking pokemon seem to prefer being petted on the head/whatever as you'd expect. Hell even goomy goes from a : D face to a >.< one depending on if you stroke its front or back feeler things. For something I originally thought was going to be a grind gimmick, it's really surprised me.

I must pet ze goomy O.O
In all seriousness it is really tempting to just capture all the pokemon to see how they react in my personal opinion xD (also ice types with ice bits freeze you)

Protean Froakies for the people!
Though I'll point out Four, that if you start Chespin you will get a Froakie (not protean) after beating the elite four. If you pick Fenniken as you're starter you will get a Chespin instead. Just so you know

Be careful about that trap though; you get so many cool Pokemon basically given to you at decent levels at the game, it can be tempting to make a team with them, and without having to train anything the game goes by very fast. I'm considering buying X just so I can play the game through without the team that is presented to you basically.

In fairness outside of the initial starters the stats on the pokemon that get given to you are rarely all that good. Got a basic riolu, no breeding, to evolve on the gym before you get the free one. It was 1 level higher and had close to +10 in most of the stats than the free one, with only the speed only slightly lower by 1-2. Same with the Ralts i got postgame from the champ.

Honestly I recommend using more than 6 pokemon. The sheer amount of experience and pokemon traded to you (gifted) gaining bonus experience plus pokemon amie totals in some preposterously easy leveling moments. The game itself seems to expect an individual to rotate their team.

Obviously so, since a Riolu you raised will already have EVs being seeded into its stats whereas the base Lucario doesn't until later. In XY you get three starters (including the event), a fossil Poke early, a free Lucario, and a free Lapras, all of which are levels above what you already have when you get them, unless you have been training extra. This is a very easy trap for players to skip what in the past felt like the long grind just to get on with your game and make a team with these guys.
As for what base stats guys have an all, the base game playthrough is not nearly hard enough in any generation to make such things necessary. You could pick any team and beat the game without much bother because the AIs are not that smart. If people are into doing all the math to face dumb AIs, to each their own and more power to them, but it certainly isn't necessary. Wi-Fi is a different story however, but that isn't what we are talking about.

oh i wasn't arguing the game wasn't easy already, in honesty its worth turning the exp share off till postgameI think. Its just eith some of the free mons its not hard to already have them meaning EVs already in place. I got an aururus or whatever off wondertrade by the second gym or so. Even that ralts im counting there under free as the "trade" is for anything you have on hand.
Though as for a party of anything i'm now feeling 6 level 60-70 magicarp for an elite 4 run heh.
