Weird thing is, the models honestly look exceptionally similar to the renders. I'm convinced the art is even based on a digitally-painted-over version of the renders themselves as well.
I believe they stated that they use some process where they take the illustration and build out the digital sculpt from it

Looking at them more closely, I am very much inclined to agree with you on this. It does make sense. Comic books are first drawn by an artist and then colored by another artist. Wyrd is essentially doing the last part over the renders instead of pencil drawings.

I heard somewhere that the old plastic sets were getting retooled (specifically "The Thunder") so that the layout made more sense like the new plastic sprues and you could sell things such as Wastrels or Torakage seperately
That makes sense, but I'd imagine that would be a priority for Wyrd after all the metal line and the new masters get remade.

I seem to remember the topic being brought up specifically about Misaki's box set because it was sold out and needed another print run anyway and it would be a good time to go ahead and get it done.

Already have plenty of Guild Guards (Especially since Death Marshals made them obsolete) and they come out with amazing new models. Never picked up an Executioner, and the two new ones are just as bad of a joke as the old ones.

First post updated.

Lots of new artwork posted here: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/605894.page

Malifaux Crossroads also announced as the Gen Con book. This will provide all the stats for the remaining models from M1E as well as a few new models.

Some nice looking concept art - but I'm always amazed at how hard it is to find sprue and unpainted assembled plastic pictures for all of their line...

i've been so out of the loop, but are they finally making the psych ward sub faction for guild? THAT might bring me back.

about two years? ago or so in the book they hinted at a sort of psych/mental institution division of the guild. A lot of guild players were really into the idea. Was just saying if they ever did make it a faction I would start playing malifaux again. I havent' kept up with malifaux officially just browse every now and then

You're welcome for the picture collection (I would've kept the Names and credit).

There are 7 masters for each of the 7 factions. I think Wyrd would at least get all of them out before talking about any more.

Maybe you were thinking of the image of Jack Daw's crew above?

The best place I've found for this is http://gmortschaotica.blogspot.co.uk/p/unboxing-malifaux.html

He doesn't have absolutely everything, but it's pretty close, and he seems to be keeping up to date nicely.

And for those who don't bother venturing into the subforum, Wyrd has announced that they have received everything but the hardcovers (there's a little concern over the Multi Pose Minis, but I think they have them from their last update), so Through the Breach is supposed to be shipped out by the end of the month, meaning most backers should have it sometime in the next month or two, depending on where they are in the shipping order and where they are in the world.

I was starting to feel a little down on the whole TTB thing but I recently started to read the Malifaux fluff - a task that has been on my to-do list for about 2 years - and I'm enjoying it so much that I'm feeling much more upbeat about the imminent* arrival of my RPG books. The interaction between the masters reminds me of the interaction between the various Batman villains in the old cartoons which is kind of cool.

* e.g. a number of months between 1 and 3, plus a few additional days to recover from the shock of the import / handling charges..

Yeah...

FedEx to Canada? (or, well, anywhere Internationally)

That's probably going to hurt.

Great googly-moogly!!!

Pity I can't get to GenCon. Those'll put a dent in my wallet when they hit retail though!

Oh wow. That's a lot.

Seems like a mixed bag of whether I personally like it or not. If anything, I enjoy the stoic metal Von Shill and the ominous metal Kirai better than the action poses they're showing here.

Regardless, the previews give us enough time to get the mtal model before the plastics replace them.

Zoraida looks very very different. She almost looks gremlin-like over there.

Lucius and The Dreamer for me, both crews look fantastic.

Fittingly she is now a neverborn/gremlin dual master.

Looks like Kirai, the dreamer, Von Schill, and Lucius for me. Though I'll probably hold off and just get enough to hit whatever the free miss model is and pick up the rest when they hit retail.

Yessss been waiting for Zoraida. The dreamer looks awesome too. Now I'm just waiting for Leviticus' crew also the concept art of the man smiling in the long coat and the sword is terrifying!

I read speculation that it could be a grown Baby Kade.

Though I'm not sure if those sort of shenanigans go on in Malifaux.

Hoooray, Lucius in plastic! Time to set aside some cash.

Out of interest, how long do these generally take from preview to release?

Will most likely grab Zoraida and the Dreamer and mix and match between my metal sets and these plastics for use based on which models I like better.

Dreamer's a definite, Friekorps is a maybe (only because I just recently picked them up in metal). Vengeful Spirits has caught my eye too though, and if there are 16 more kits on that list of some description...dammit Wyrd.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Some sets that were available at Gencon 2013 were not available at retail until 3/4 months after the event. So it can take some time.
