I thought it was proven that along time ago. And it doesnt matter, people are going to trust anyone but SCIENCE because science is scary.

Also had a study recently that found that children who were autistic actually showed signs of it in the first month of life, long before their first shots.

I really feel like people like McCarthy should be held criminally accountable somehow. Promoting child abuse? Is that a thing?

I agree in principle, but I think in practice this is very problematic from a first amendment standpoint. You do too, or at least you do in the transfats thread, yes - that it's not the role of the government to protect people from their own poor choices?
Civilly, though, is a different question. Could someone who had a child who died, or was very sick, from a disease that a vaccination they opened out of would have prevented; and hence have standing, sue Jenny McCarthy in some way for propagating such a plan, should they be able to prove they followed her advice in good faith? Probably not, even then - I suspect a jury would be cool to the idea that Mrs. McCarthy would have any responsibility for her statements as she is not an accredited expert in any way. But... not impossible, just very unlikely.
In any event Jenny McCarthy is a reprehensible human being with a lot of blood on her hands regardless of her vulnerability to litigation.

It's been quite a big deal over here too. We had this same scare going round for some time over the combined MMR jab - with the end result that almost an entire generation of children were unvaccinated due to their parents panicking and skipping the jab. Net result - loads of outbreaks of measles and what-not as well as mass queues of panicking parents trying to get their now teenagers vaccinated.

It wasn't quite as bad as that, IIRC there was around a 5% drop in MMR uptake but that was enough to weaken the herd immunity enough to cause a couple of localised outbreaks and one death (in the UK at least). For once the public wasn't that stupid.
Some people however are that stupid http://gaia-health.com/gaia-blog/2013-05-04/welsh-measles-epidemic-was-faked/

The prefect example of someone missing the point.
Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

At the time my mother-in-law bought into the scare and tried to convince The Wife and I not to vaccinate The Boy. We ignored her, but not without stress on The Wife's part.

People have sued scientology because they stopped children from getting to a doctor, resulting in their deaths.

I found out from my mum and my aunt when she was visiting that I never had the combined MMR jab.
Considering I graduated in biochemistry, trying to listen to their reasoning that it was a good idea even today, knowing the truth of the whole mess, just broke my brain.
In fact, it broke it so much I didn't even check that I had them individually.

One of the "evil chemicals" in vaccines that J McCarthy was vilifying was propylene glycol, which they called anti-freeze.
Which product is listed in the e-cigarettes she's the spokesmodel for? Propylene Glycol.
