Why did I think it was about the Amazon taking over military drones and attaching seats to them to make them passenger planes?
Also, What happens when someone shoots this down? Or gts hacked? Or they rise up against their overlord.
Oh well, if they use this for pizza I wont have to tip anymore
Aside from destruction of private property you might be able to be charged with interfering with mail.

I imagine insurance will be pretty much standard issue with drone delivered packages, and the delivery fee will be fairly high as well. And some things will probably not be allowed to be sent by drone.

Coworker of mine thought it was kind of cool, until I showed him this video. Now he doesn't want Amazon drones delivering to him...
But now he wants to buy a quadrotor.

Unless the drone was trespassing my property on its way to the destination or what if it crashes on top of my roof due to a malfunction and blows half my home! Lawyers are going to love this

This is going to be really interesting when it comes to no fly zones in DC, large urban areas like NYC and Chicago, the winter weather in the mid-West, and delivering to large condos.
They still need the FFA to sign of the regs which they are slated to do sometime in 2015. I believe the draft regs are stating that drone operators must have LOS to the device. That could cause issues with this.
If this does happen, and we get 30 minute delivery from Amazon then it is the death of big box retail. Right now, big box retail doesn't have an answer to the Amazon juggernaut.

Amazon is not the USPS.
The drones are flying over private property most likely. Unleash the shotguns.
Love to see a chicken hawk go after one.

It will be interesting to see if they wll follow the pattern of US drones "delivering" their "packages" in the wrong place... such as schools and weddings

Pretty sure that people have been prosecuted for mail tampering for stealing packages delivered via UPS and other courier services.
And really, if you're going to be shooting at them I imagine that the drones have video cameras on them making it very clear who the toolbag shooting them down is.

Amazon doesn't deliver mail. You do know who Amazon is right? They are damaging my property rights via trespass. Besides I thought it was a vulture trying to attack me. Blamo time.
Edit: technically I should sue Amazon for trespass. Mossberg is more fun though.

Old law is (unless you sign it away) you own everything from the center of the earth to the bottom of the kennel of the Great Wiener Dog. I'm sure statutes have limited that, and the Mole Men / Superman treaty (ratified by Congress: 1952) modified it as well.

Unleash the shotguns you say? Last minute shopping I say...
Automated anti air systems? I could easily do that with a raspberry pi
Imagine it-a drone flies over head, the sensors pick it up and RRIIIIIIIPP-its shot down. Remote tracked recovery drones are dispatched to recover the wreckage, ala Battletech style, so it can be salvaged and used to create pirate drones-drones that ram and take over other drones and divert tham.

I think that the real issue for Amazon may be liability and insurance. By operating drones Amazon become the carriers, not FEDEX/USPS/whomever, and so any damage/injury comes out of Amazon's bottom line. Insurance may cover them for drone flights, but I can't imagine it would be cheap. Add in training, support, maintenance, and many other factors and it could simply be prohibitively expensive for them.
You fools are thinking too inside the box! What we can do is... RC Dogfights. Just mount a small calibre machine gun on a RC plane and reenact the Battle of Britain to your heart's content.
