Wow, that's sounds good. I wonder what the strength of the Missiles are.
I hope they updated the armor save. a 4+ save just does not cut it on a MC, especially with things like Missilesides.
Edit: Perhaps we'll get lucky, and get a special rule that prevents them from getting grounded, or modifies the grounding test. Maybe passing it on a 2+.

Okay, found the quote. But if everyone else is now good at shooting down flyers first round, a flying anti-air is not very helpfull.
Endobai over at Warseer wrote:Were you talking about the parasite bomb-bugs?
These are not bombs, but anti-air missiles. The Crone is a fighter-bomber with attacking enemy fliers as its primary task.
From the description they might be self-guided to some degree.
It definetely is a flamer-like weapon, but secondary to the air combat task the creature is responsible for.

They look much better and have several weapon options. This image although good to show the model doesn't do the unit much justice.

We'll see about the true rules, but if they got their inspiration from Epic, the Exocrine will not be a "second Tyrannofex"...rather some kind of big bio-artillery.
And that would change A LOT of things for tyrannids.

Hopefully a significant price reduction, and increase in BS by one.
For those of you familiar with the Bio-Weapon of the Exocrine, are expecting something like large blasts and Barrage? Like a super Biovore?

That's new!! I believe right now it gives d3+1 A right? Used to be d6 well if its the former and they also gain half decent ap on them (even with I1) that could be a lot of damage

Plus it's fairly credible that a GW marketing campaign for their biggest release would fit on one side of A4 - Flashman |

Well, it'll be cheaper apparently, Vhalyar was speaking about the Carnifex being ~75% of its current cost, and a Tyrannofex with Rupture Cannon being about 80% of its current cost.

Indeed. I would ha e thought the T-Fex having the now smaller more agile big gun would have been an ideal candidate for ground based AA.
I was so hoping that Stealers would get a buff.

It's a bio-plasma cannon with 2 fire modes, so I'd expect some form of reasonable strength AP2 blast weapon to be one of the fire modes.

Well, this Exocrine sure has a lot of similarities with biovors, but I'm not sure it will act the same since it was the Dactylis that was acting more like "big barrage bio-weapon".
Of course, they could change that completely, we don't know. But I would rather think the Exocrine will be more like a "bio-Leman Russ" in the spirit.
Codex will tell, as usual.

The Exocrine is a Lord of War I mean, according to lexicanum's classification thingamajig, they are meant to be larger than Carnifexes and Tyrannofexes.

I could see the Haruspex having T8 (Possible the Exocrine as well) This would go a long way in solving the issue of surviving into CC.

In Epic the Exocrine was a anti-tank unit with a really long range, basically a Tyranid analogue to the Basilisk. I'd be expecting something along the lines of a S8/9 large blast ruleswise.
The Tyrannofex will probably be tweaked into more of a forward linebreaker, with various weapon options akin to some Leman Russ variants.

Except eldar blade storm, dark eldar poison, and kroot snipers care not for toughness.
The army needs resistance to poison OR cheaper units OR area effect feel no pain, I believe.

The Wraithknight is in the same boat, but it really doesn't have a huge issue with these things. True, it is faster and has some nice long range weapons, but I find mine very very rarely die. Even with Poison, Bladestorm, and Snipers going though 6 T8 3+ wounds is actually not that easy to do.
So, while it is an issue, T8 solves the biggest issues of the Meta, which is volume of fire. I tend to be much more worried about Scatter+Shield than Bladestorm for instance. Pulse Rifle Spam, Missilesides with Buffmander, etc etc. T8 really helps with all of this.

I just wish GW would get it into their heads that releasing a popular army BEFORE Xmas would actually generate them some sales.
I'd love to be able to put these guys and their codex on my Xmas or Birthday wishlist, as I am sure would other folks.
I like the full shot of the Hauspex (although not enough to pointlessly requote it )
So far I'm looking at Psy Cards, codex, two flyer kits and a pair of the Exocrine/Haus'.
