In Summary summer may bring a 40K 6.5 rulebook tidying up FAQs etc and rolling escalation &/or stronghold into the main rule book or 40K 7th will launch in the summer, a proper new edition or there will be a new 40K blood angels vs orks starter box possibly tied into the lauch of one of the above (may replace or be in addition to DV) or the above is for a relaunch of epic not 40K or GW will collapse and be bought by somebody else (Hasbro)

I think that it will be more convincing when there are pictures and there is more detail on what is truly going on. It seems to me like all of this speculation could be for nothing. Personally, I'm not sure if I'd welcome the change. If thats how fast 40k is going to start moving, I might reconsider how much time and money I put into it. I get that its good to have some minor bug fixes in the rules, but I dislike the idea of total new rules. Look what happened to BA in 6th edition. Its not that BA were bad, the rules were just not in their favor at all. I play Tau, and am newer to the game. I'm just concerned that my army will not be as good if the rules aren't just even. This is also how I feel when a new codex is going to be released. Is this going to be the new #1 army? Is mine going to get stomped by it? What do you guys think about how the pacing of 40k (rule wise) is looking? Too fast, too slow, lemme know.

Welcome to the GW Hhhhhobby!
Well, for clarification, I meant to write that the cost was inclusive of having to buy a new rule-book and also buy the cards again for all my old models (Arsenal Decks). Mercifully, buying Arsenal Decks is still a world cheaper than buying new Codexes, but still, for a relatively niche game, the sudden turn to V2.0 meant a hell of an expenditure all around.

And for some probably also because they simply don't fit the faction. It's like having a unit of Eldar Snipers in an ork army.

WHFB Ungors work well with Cadian bits, I made some nice mutant guard out of WHFB Beastmen, Marauder and Cadians bits.
I for one like Abhumans (who are an accepted part of the Imperium by the way) and would like to see them survive. I have never understood why Ratlings are considered a poor unit choice given that they are a very cheap unit.

Be glad you didn't spring for a 'Collector's Edition'. But yes, thy're serious. that's how GW (and most table top games companies) play it. A new edition rolls along every few years. At least it wasn't like Hasbro where they flatly denied there would be a 4th edition of D&D until they released a 4th Edition of D&D. Usually better though if the editions are mostly compatible.

If this isnt true then GW need to put the record straight.
I was going to get the ork codex but decided to wait for the new rumored one in March/April. If this is true I'll be waiting even longer, what the point of getting one now when it will be out dated in a month or so. I think a lot of folk will feel this way, if there is no 7th on the way then GW are losing a lot of sale with people waiting around for the new edition.

Well... I haven't seen rumours for Orks in March/April. The majority of rumours seems to say March = Knights & April = Imperial Guard Astra Militarum
By "new edition", it seems likely that it will be an "update-edition" similar to 4th, 5th, and 6th, not a truly new edition like 3rd, that cuts all ties. I very much doubt they invalidate all of last year's books: Dark Angels, Daemons, Tau, Eldar, Space Marines, etc.. . It's possible, but not really likely.

If you really think this is a thing that's happening, get the softcover rulebook on eBay. Worst case scenario you're out 20 bucks, best case you get a few more good years out of it. Hell, this really just sounds like a reprinted rulebook with FAQ and errata included if it's even a thing happening.

Hmmmm... I can think of one way that a 'new edition' could actually be a good thing.
A slightly revised version with a much lower price.
Not a massive rewrite (though that is what it would take to interest me in the game again), but just cleaned up and consolidated, with redundant rules codified into single, universal entries, and about half the price.
Yes - even if it means lowering production standards for the physical book.
I would much rather see a $30 - $50 perfect bound paperback than the current hardcover.
Something about halfway between the mini rulebook included in the game and the hardcover. Or pretty much exactly like the 3e rules book.
It still would not draw me in - I just plain do not like the current edition, but it would draw in new people.
The Auld Grump - I know that it is a pipe dream, but....

IMO the most disturbing part about that rumor is that rather than try to fix the broken stuff they're going to make superheavies baseline in the rules, so they'll be as ingrained as flyers.
Any semblance of game balance is getting thrown out the window.

I'm more worried about another giant expensive hardback book. Given the time frame between 6th and 7th I have no incentive to buy 7th, especially if 8th has the same time frame. Releasing new editions so close to one another. I don't like it.
