Poor Nick Kyme. Talon of Horus sold out in what, 3-4 hours? They'll be lucky if Rebirth sells out in as many months.
Maybe ADB can lend his name to these things. "Aaron Dembski-Bowden presents: Rebirth First Edition by Nick Kyme"

Does anyone know what happened to an audio CD that was listed on Amazon as an advance order a few years called "The Keeler Image"?
I've always wondered if it was binned because it took the HH in a direction they decided to drop or if it has been delayed because of the expansion of the storyline (Imperium Secundus and the like).
Or is everything I've been told a lie?

It was due out a few years back -- 2011 IIRC ? -- but got delayed initially due to Mr Abnett's other work commitments ( Dr Who novel.. and very good it is too !) and has then, alas, been lost somewhat in the shuffle.
It was supposed to be an Eisenhorn story relating to an artifact from the HH , one assumes that it may well reappear one day, perhaps as/when ( ..if ..?) we see some more releases relating to Eisenhorn.
That was some chatter a little while ago about some BL Inquisition themed releases alongside a print version of the Inquisition codex .... but I wouldn't hold out too much hope either way there personally.
Whilst we're here : It seems that BL : Live 2015 has been cancelled -- due to the ongoing building works apparently. People who already had tickets should be being contacted and offered either a refund, credit or money off a BL : Weekender ticket. This is a shame, the event has always been enjoyable in the past, hope it's not gone for good.
In better news however Mamzel Cawkwell has a new Silver Skulls novel out -- digital format only for the foreseeable future.

I was really digging the idea of a female 40K author, and had high hopes for Srah Cawkwell. I even bought Gildar Rift rather than stumbling across a copy that'd fallen off the back of a truck or renting it like I do with most of my BL books.
It was a terrible book, though. It was generic and by-the-numbers even for a Space Marines Battles novel, which is saying alot.

It was okay, nowhere near as bad as say, Lucien Soulban's stab at Necromunda, where he turned it into a generic cyberpunk setting.

That was the worst thing I could say about the Sarah Cawkwell, it was nicely written but instantly forgettable. I felt that she must have had each page and section read through by a 'commisariat', hovering behind her while writing.
Lucien Soulban - I assume BL have finally started allowing writers to have pen names? (something I have always found rather funny about them).

It's his real name actually. He wrote two 40k novels I think, one a forgettable Necromunda cyberpunk novel about retrieving body parts and another about the Tallarn Muslims in spaaaaaaaace with an ending that I predicted before I was even halfway through.
Which is odd really, as the guy is also responsible for the fething excellent Farcry 3, a game I love to pieces. Well, not the protagonist in any case, but damn it, it's an amazing game imho.

Wow that's incredible, how could his parents have known he would grow up to be a BL author?
Unless it's one of those 'self-fulfilling prophecy' kinds of things, i.e. Dr. Evil was only ever going to grow up and have his own private army and live in a hollowed out volcano..

Yes... I actually am pleased with the trade sized paperbacks. They have a slight increase in the text size which improves their readability for me. I have really bad vision though. No where near needing large print editions, but the slightly larger typeface is nice. I did resist at first but I picked up Angel Exterminatus with a 20% off coupon from B&N and I havent loooked back.
A funny aside though would be more with B&N... they periodically send me out said 20% off coupons but they ALWAYS seem to send them out the weekend before anything I want gets released and you can not use them on pre orders. Damn you B&N... Damn you!!!

Fw more odds and sods...
http://www.blacklibrary.com/warhammer-40000/space-marine-terminators
New Terminator stories this week, SW today, ULtras on Wed and looks like BT's on Friday.
The latter tying nicely, one assumes, with Mr Haley's recent BT work -- which will also feature a brand new novel featuring them next year :
http://www.blacklibrary.com/warhammer-40000/black-templars
Few more titles have been spotted on Amazon/similar too :
http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Hunters-Umbra-Paul-Kearney/dp/1849708444/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1410735837&sr=8-1&keywords=Dark+Hunters%3A+Umbra+Sumus+by+Paul+Kearney
The Space Marines of the Dark Hunters, descendants of the White Scars and their savage primarch Jaghatai Khan, are called to battle on the world of Ras Hanem, a world they thought long since liberated from the grip of heresy and returned to Imperial rule. Many years ago, he Dark Hunters defeated the traitor warband known as the Punishers on that world, in a conflict that left deep wounds in the Chapter. But now the Punishers have returned, seeking vengeance upon their would-be destroyers. Captain Jonah Kerne of Mortai Company is sent to annihilate the traitors once for all, but the cost of victory may be too high for him to bear -

After the decimation of his Legion on the killing fields of Isstvan V, the primarch Corax sanctioned an accelerated implantation process to create new Raven Guard - a process subverted in secret by his enemies. But in spite of their horrendous mutations, the warriors of the Raptors still stand ready to do their primarch's bidding. When a watch-pack of Space Wolves legionaries arrives unannounced, it falls to Lieutenant Navar Hef to greet their warlike kinsmen and decide whether or not they might be hiding flaws of their own.

The Legacy of Caliban echoes down through the ages, and the secretive mission of the Dark Angels continues: to atone for the sins of their forefathers and capture all of the renegades and heretics known as the Fallen. With the most famous of these Fallen Dark Angels - the elusive Cypher - now firmly in their grasp after his unexpected surrender, the Dark Angels are given fresh hope that they can redeem themselves in the eyes of the Emperor. But what game is Cypher playing? What plans does he have? And can the Dark Angels ever really atone, or will they always remain the Unforgiven?
Couple of reprints :

the latter there oddly timed IMO....

Reds8n, if I could ask, what's the content of Warmaster like? Is there actually any description of why Horus decided to turn against the Emperor and start the Heresy?
It's the one (rather large!) thing that has always been missing from the series for me, we have 'stabbed by evil sword' as the pre-cursor for the entire Heresy happening (and by extension the whole 40k universe really!), and it's always been a big omission that there wasn't really any cause and effect thing going on there.. does that story change any of that? (I remember ADB saying on a forum at one time that he would love to have written a background on Horus' decision..)

Touches on it -- briefly -- and it is a short piece, 9 minutes of audio.
It's more him ruminating upon/about his fellow primarchs and the situation he now finds himself in.

This is why I have stopped buying the LE ones, I knew they were going to be releasing them later down the line as part of the series, but I wasn't expecting them to release them in hard back, like the silver edition ones. Good. The more people do that, the sooner there's a chance, however small, that BL with stop padding out their release schedule with all this "super ultra special limited ultra awesome mini novel-ish novella!" nonsense and get back to releasing, you know, books.
Still, at least they have the decency to eventually release the fiction as a compilation, for those of us who noticed the individual novellas were a ripoff at the outset.

Outcast Dead gets the formal hardback treatment .... still find it odd there's earlier books waiting still ...?
"Damnation .." gets a new style softback format release.
Brotherhood of the storm -- see above -- becomes an audio book.
And Oct. sees the legacy/as it was edition format release of "Scars". Which is nice.

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

Bah, I was so excited when I saw the Tanith badge in that email.
I suppose a Sabbart Crusades book will be good too.
Unless it's a rerelease in hardback, wasn't there already one of those?

The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that. |

OK, BL is putting out some new novels (not novellas, or audio-books, or shorts), good, good!
Exclusive, and/or First Edition $80 hardbacks!
Sigh. One step forwards, three steps back, BL.
And what happened to Sandy Mitchell?

.. which means I'll wait for the regular release, and having waited that long I'll just wait for the eventual paperback release.
Hell waited long enough for this series so what's a wee bit longer yeah ?

We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.
