Horus does indeed look great! As a SoH Player myself I am really glad he turned out that way.

Fresh from FW today:

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuff/MECHANICUM_MYRMIDON_SECUTORS.html

The Myrmidon Secutors are ordained priests of the Cult Mechanicum who embody the art of destruction at close quarters utilising the rightly feared Mechanicum weapons technology to further their ends. They keep no master long, instead they are drawn to battle as a vulture is drawn to carrion, seeking fresh challenges to defeat.

This complete resin set contains three Mechanicum Myrmidon Secutor models with two phased plasma fusils, two maxim bolters and two graviton guns respectively and all carry power axes. These are available to pre-order now and will be despatched from 31st March.

Models designed by Mark Bedford.

I've been sitting on the fence waiting for enough Mechanicum units to launch before I dived in and started my Dark Mechanicus army. No more waiting on my part now as I will be making a large order over the weekend as the new Myrmidons look rather nice indeed. This is helped by the currently disappointing IG and Chaos releases not offering me anything I actually want to buy outside of the new IG codexes.

I think If i got those myrmidons I would convert their weapons to be more underslung. Even shoulder-mounted would be better, they are far too... horizontal, they stick out too much, looks a bit awkward.

Unfortunately.

I could see these being a stand in for Ogryns in a Mechanicus themed guard army. They've got the dakka aspect covered in the maxim bolters and the choppy aspect is covered.

They make good proxy Centurions or Tau Commanders in an allied SM/Tau force.

Pre-order, not released until March 31st

Again, single weapon syndrome rears its ugly head. I suppose you just have to press-mold the weapons if you want three (seriously though, how hard is it to give us all the options...)

I'll be building a custom weapon arm with a pair of Legion Grav Guns, with bionic weapons on the other arm I can counts-as them as Devastator Centurions with grav-cannons, or use them as Secutors in 30K games. It is a bit disappointing they went with exactly the same bodies, I was hoping there'd be some variation even if it was just superficial details; ah well, conversion time then.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?

I'm confused. Why is a mechanically augmented human way taller than an Astartes Terminator?

Myrmidons have moved beyond 'mechanically augmented human' and are brains in a robot body designed for killing.

I'm more a fan of the destructors as well.

Counts as would be nice, but my Tau allies run a Cadre Fireblade as their HQ. The 15mm Dreamforge Leviathan is about right to swap into being a riptide, just need the 15mm weapon options to show up. And something to use as a hammerhead tank. I wonder what the new Mechanicum tank that will be at HH Weekend will look like?

I find this quite funny really.
The only edge GW ever had of the forgeworld sculpts was price.

The gap now is so small (and non existent at times) that its almost worth buying pure FW models instead.
Better quality resin, better quality sculpts.

And that horus model is pretty damn good!
I like the way he actually has an imperial look about him still and looks like a noble.

FW really are on the right track at the moment though, they need to keep this up.
Also need sanguinius too, since i have my IH primarch but still need my BA one

You mean heads? The bodies are slightly different, Secutors have little hands to hold the axes while Destructors have mechadendrites.

Anyway, the GD preview last year had them with the same heads, so I'm not hugely surprised. Some head variation would have been nice, but they're integrated into the body....

Ketara wrote:I'm confused. Why is a mechanically augmented human way taller than an Astartes Terminator?

Why not? These are the guys who built Terminator armour, and it wasn't purpose built, it , was converted from industrial shielding armour. Yes, Terminator armour was originally designed for janitors... in SPAAACE

Myrmidons have dedicated their entire lives to being the best cyborg robot killers....

Alpharius wrote:NOTHING should be better than a Space Marine Terminator - except maybe a Primarch!!!

I don't see why Space Marines had a monopoly on the best heavy infantry... there was a reason the big E was reluctant to go to war with Mars...

Why would you run a Cadre Fireblade? Allied Tau Commander is way better Isn't the DFG leviathan a little too big, it's Knight sized.

This rocks my world as a Mechanicus grav tank/hammerhead.

I want it to be a Haruspex-ish fast giant walker with tons of mechadendrites everywhere.

They come in two Scales. 15mm which is about 4.75" once built, and 28mm which is about 8.5" once built.

I think the 15mm is still too small for a Riptide though. But if you are willing to forgive them being a bit short, they should have about the right bulk. The 25mm is a bit large for a knight, but would make an excellent Baron.

FORGE WORLD BLOG #9

This weekend saw Forge World’s first show of the year and as East Midlands Sci-Fi and Fantasy Convention was in Nottingham and only a little way from the office, it would have been rude not to go!

Forge World at EM-CON.

The Forge World stand was busy all day. The guys running the stand had a lot of fun meeting everyone. I, of course, supported them from afar. Well, I wouldn't have wanted to get in the way!.

The crowds at EM-CON.

There are plenty more events Forge World is attending this year and more are being added all the time. Check out our Events page for details and keep your eye on this blog for news on what you’ll find at forthcoming events.

Imposing Titans and Space Marine Legions on display in the Citadel Miniatures Hall.

Speaking of awesome places to see our models up close and personal, there’s a fantastic collection of expertly painted Forge World models at the Citadel Miniatures Hall at Warhammer World. This includes some truly inspiring models such as the Hierophant Bio-Titan and the Greater Brass Scorpion of Khorne, which have recently been added to the displays along with the entire Horus Heresy Character Series.

All the latest Forge World models are on display.

If you’ve painted a Forge World Super-heavy vehicle or Gargantuan Creature, why not send us some photos of it via our Facebook page.

That’s all from me for now. Make sure you check back soon for more from the Forge World Studio.
