It's what's disappointed me most, really. All the talk of new White Dwarf, rumours of drastic action being taken due to the 25% share price drop and the mentioning of a change in language surrounding sales tactics when trying to sell you some Tyranids.

It's no wonder peeps aren't so keen to start Fantasy anymore :(

Guess that confirms there will be no plastic slayers. Ironically that isn't a bad price. The unit is $5 a fig which is the same price as the slayers were before the finecast launch. Other note, they are listed as metal, guess that shoots down the rumor that all the metal figs have been melted.

US $50 is cheap, in Australia there $70, it would still be cheaper to buy in US and then ship over. I don't see why we get ripped off.

US$50 x 1.14(exchange rate) =$57

No, just means they're trying to shift their metal slayer stock. Wouldn't be surprised at all if plastic slayers turn up in a week or so.

The Warhost of Naggaroth took a few months to come out, could be seeing something similar for Dwarfs with them waiting until there's more new plastic kits.

I'm going to ballpark it as something like:
20x Hammerers/Longbeards
20x Thunderers/Quarellers OR 10x Slayers--assuming we actually see plastic Slayers
Something on a chariot base
Something that could be equivalent to cavalry

A plastic Lord/Hero choice. I'm thinking that the Dragon Slayer that just got released is what we would see as this option given that he's a Lord/Hero choice.

Over at Bugman's Brewery, I saw a picture of the Army Book cover, or at least something that looked remarkably like a book cover.

Maybe this has been posted before and my Dakka Search-fu failed, or its not "new" per se, but I just noticed that the adjuctival form of "Dwarf" used in the new WDW is "Dwarfen". Not Dwarfsh. Not Dwarven. Is this another GW effort to come up with "enforcable" IP? Or am I just showing my ingorance of things Dwarfish/Dwarven/Dwarfen?

I had heard the price of the hammerers was going to be $50 usd. I was holding out hope that they would be 20 to a box. I should have known better. You only get 10.

Nearly $50 cheaper and you get over 3x the models (I counted 41 models in the Dwarf one-click bundle), plus you get what you can actually field out of the box as an actual army not a handful of units and a character and nothing else, thus still needing to spend another couple of hundred on additional units.

Even this: http://www.manticgames.com/mantic-shop/kings-of-war/dwarfs/product/dwarf-army-set-85-figures.html is a better deal than the GW nonsense, for a fraction of the cost.

GW is, as they say, taking the mickey here.

I think the fact that this thread is only 11 pages long an that there is a lot of hate in here shows how well fantasy is doing. I was considering starting up a fantasy army but not at 5 bucks a model. You can keep it GW!

Umm... 16 Thunderers/Quarrellers, AUD$55. 16 Warriors, AUD$55. 10 Longbeards/Hammerers... AUD$70.

Why are 10 models 127% the price of 16 GW? The Warriors/Quarrellers/Thunderers are AUD$3.44 a model, yet the Longbeards/Hammerers are AUD$7 a model. Each model is worth costs 200% more!!!

Goldbeards is what they should be called.

the ability to do weekly releases (without telling anybody about them in advance) was one of the major reasons for the White Dwarf changes

so there may well be 3 more weeks of stuff

Presumably. The designer notes on Dwarves on p. 27 of the new White Dwarf Weekly end with a little box saying "Next Week: Engineering Madness".

Presumably, there'll be warmachines and other contraptions. Also, at some point, a WDW on an actual new Army Book ?
