Subject: Nostalgia time! Your first favorite game!
Too many to mention or to even recollect but if I absolutely had to pick one, maybe Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis. One of the greatest adventure games ever made IMO.
If I had to go for some of the earliest that would be tough. There was battletoads, super Mario world, Little Nemo, Donkey Kong Country and a variety of other games. They even had that old TMNT game back then.
I was born in the late 80's. Good times were had with those games.
Gameboy, Pokemon Red. I still have my original cartridge and will always hold dear memories of my 8bit noise machines and flashing black and white screens.

Woah, quite a few names on here to conjure up all sorts of nostalgia! For me it was either 'Robin Of The Wood' or 'Ad Astra', both Spectrum games and both all kinds of awesome…
Ad Astra
And Robin Of The Wood

C64 : Raid on bungeling bay ( i actually thought we mispronounced the name but apparently not)
Bruce Lee - This game was so much fun as two player co-op when my young self decided that launching surprise attacks on player 1 was the best things ever , games tended to end on a sour note

It's a tricky one as there have been so many that have always pulled me back to play them.
Space Harrier on the C64, Road Rash on the Mega Drive, Tekken 2 on the Playstation and Dawn of War on the PC. All bar Space Harrier are played to this very day. The C64 is up the loft at me dads, it's not a system you can go for a quick game on really.

Console: Super Mario Bros 3 on the NES, the first video game I ever played, and still one of my favourites today (although tbh I now play the super mario advanced version on my phone)
PC: Age of Empires - Man I loved that game, was one of the first PC games I owned and I played it to death. Wish they would make a HD edition like they did with number two, or if someone were to make a AoEII mod to bring back the original (like they did with porting the original HL to the source engine)
And that is why you hear people yelling FOR THE EMPEROR rather than FOR LOGICAL AND QUANTIFIABLE BASED DECISIONS FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE MAJORITY!

First of all I'd like to thank sarpedons-right-hand for already picking a couple of games older than mine (You either all got into gaming at an older age or are much younger than me).
Settlers for the Commodore CDTV. I remember playing the demo to death, getting the full game (after teaching my Dad how to play so he would want it) and then playing that to death (Im still convinced they changed the store room artwork from the demo to full game). Took me a few years to realise (Floppy) Disc 1 was not needed for the game at all, it didn't load anypart of the game, it was just an intro...
I also remember playing alot of Mr Puniverse on the commodore 16 or 64. Not a very good game but one of the few games we have.

These are not really some of the first games that I played but these are the first few games I played that I really liked. The first is SUPER SMASH BROS MELEE!!!!!!!! ( starts singing theme song like a crazy man) and also age of empires 3 and Pokemon sapphire.

the first game I ever played was Super Mario brothers in 1988. It still ranks as a great game. The first game I loved, owned and played the gak out of was Final Fantasy 3 on the SNES (otherwise known as Final Fantasy 6). Still hard to beat that game when it comes to story, party customization, and sheer scale.

Through that, I learned that pressure enhances ability. The best game I had of that was when I was supposed to get ready for school, and just Would Not Die.

For console, I would probably have to go with the original The Legend of Zelda; along with speedruns I once managed to get killed by Gannon without even having a sword (as opposed to not using one).
C64, probably War of the Lance.

I was an only child for a long time, and the first video game experience I remember was my older cousin (my idol growing up) coming over with his NES for the first time, and playing LOZ, along a couple other games. My mom eventually bought me a second-hand NES with a gold edition of LOZ. Almost 20 years later, and I still have that NES and that version of LOZ.
Pokemon Silver version or Ty the Tasmanian Tiger. Either one gives me the nostalgia.

Very first favorite that I played over and over would have to be Defender of the Crown for the Commodore 64, 25+ years ago for me. After that would be the very first PC game I bought with my own money: Legacy of the Ancients.

Console - Toejam & Earl on the Genesis, so many good times.
PC- Warcraft 2-I remember trying sooo hard to clear up enough space on my 1.2 gig hard drive to install it, read the manual like 6 times during the process.
MMO - Ultima Online - before people knew how to play MMOs properly.
Standing in town stealing over and over from this guy as he spammed "Gaurds! Gaurds!" over and over. Got three house deeds.
Luring newbies outside of town and killing 'em for their starting gold.
Taming Dragons and siccing them on people.
Dyeing all the moongates red and telling people they were cross-server now.
Calling a GM and having a guild member keep asking him stupid questions while other random jerks would run up to talk to him and ganking them.
