Hands up in this thread if you eat meat?

Ever been to a slaughter house?

(Trolling? I'm not, but I find the hysteria over animal cruelty extremely tiresome. The emotional extremes people go to over this crime are just beyond me, when they can crack jokes about people getting killed no problem.)

If somebody killed another persons cat then I could almost understand that person wanting to kill them, it's an overreaction but I can empathise there.

It's somewhat insane to demand the death of a human being for every death of a cat at the hands of a human.

I am against capital punishment for the mistreatment of animals; however, I hope the lady dies in a car fire in front of her loved ones.

I seriously recommend a trip to a slaughter house, or a day on a fishing boat, for any of you who are still frothing with outrage over this. We're doing worse to animals every single second of the day.

Of course, pointless cruelty towards animals is wrong. But get some perspective.

It was a disgusting act, yet, if her mental illness played a part then she deserves a least little bit of compassion or sympathy. Hell. maybe some understanding?

Again, the act was atrocious.

No mercy. No compassion. No sympathy. People who do bad things should be punished. Enough coddling.

This isn't killing a cow or a chicken for people to eat.

I'm not frothing at the mouth. I'm quite lucid this morning. I've had both of my cups of coffee.

Why should any cat's life be more valuable than a cow or a pig? Because they are cute and occasionally live with people?

Wrong argument. We don't microwave live cows and pigs.

This is the important point. The cat died 90 minutes after being removed from the microwave oven. A cow or pig is killed in a (relatively) more humane fashion. Unless you're muslim, in which case Halal means it's fine to do it in an inhumane way.

If you're not frothing at the mouth then my point wasn't directed at you.

And yeah, killing a kitten in a microwave is a gakky thing to do, and it's not the same as killing animals for food.

However, some of the reactions to this are just unbelievably over the top, often from people who would make jokes about a human death or have no particular emotional reaction to a story about bombings or killings in other places. Fraz, you regularly advocate nuking other places as a method of "diplomacy".

I see that as hypocritical. Don't particularly care if that ruffles your feathers, but I think some time spent looking at the food chain we've devised for ourselves would show you that what we do to the animals we eat isn't at all pretty.

That's very true. If your argument is "anyone who microwaves an animal should die in a car fire in front of their loved ones" then I'll still say it's hyperbolic but at least it's consistent.

Kronk answered the question. All life exists on death, but we don't need to be cruel about it.

I'll make that statement, then. Consistency is more important than avoiding hyperbole!

Anyone that microwaves a live dog, cat, chicken, pig, cow, elephant, or other living creature (not including bacteria, roaches, or Justin Beiber) should die in a car fire.

Its not hypocritical if you understand that 99.9% of humans are a waste of skin, and could potentially step on my lawn.

I think those of you who accuse us of being very upset are missing the point. She didn't JUST kill her kitten. She put it in a fething microwave, obliterated its cells, and it lived another torturous 90 minutes of excruciating agony. If she killed it humanely, we'd still be a bit bothered, but not likely enraged. Once again, it's the way something is done, not the finale that has us up in arms.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Why ? Why do you hate her loved ones ? And why do you hate her car ? Her car is innocent ! If you are planning to put her innocent car in a microwave, you are as much a monster as she is !

Obviously, it was because you wanted to eat only things that tasted at least okay, rather than eating food that would fatten your liver in morbid proportions !

It is pretty disturbing. But it's the fact that it's a cute ickle kitten that makes the headlines. Had it been a turtle or a rat, less of an issue might have been made.

Yeah, this is more or less analogous to the "hot teacher" thread in that respect. And reminds me of the Joker's speech to Harvey Dent in the hospital.

Human beings die in horrible, tragic ways every day and we YAWN through those articles. One poor little kitten dies and everyone falls over one another to be the most righteous and outraged. *shrug*

I do think it's sad and terrible. But there's also a fethton of that in the world, and I'd rather save the bulk of my tears and outrage for the cases involving my species. Especially considering that I (like many people) EAT cute little animals on a daily basis that haven't always been killed in the most humane ways. As others have said, check out a slaughterhouse sometime.

I just want to know ... was the cat prepared extra crispy or original recipe?

Bad Joke but I could not help it.

On a side note speaking as a person who has eaten dog, horse and snake before people in America freak out when I tell them I have eaten them before. Now what this woman done was appalling to my mind, but I would have to think that there was some sort of mental defect there. Squirrels are cute little things but people do not freak out about eating them.

So it is OK to torture and kill living things you do not like, and maybe even hate?
