I'm wondering if the 'Tempestus' tag suggests they're looking at different books for the military forces from different parts of the Imperium... One for each segmentum.

I think the "soldiers of storm" translation is probably more accurate. If you call them storm troopers you can't sue anyone who tries to use the name, if you put the name into google translate and claim ownership of it your legal department will be a lot happier. And so what if it sounds stupid, BUY GW PRODUCTS.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

The naming is also stupid. Astra Militarium was bad enough but Militarium Tempestus is just ridiculous. It basically translates as 'soldiers of storm', which is just beyond stupid, only a way to avoid Star Wars analogies.

Isn't it likely that the name Militarium Tempestus stems from the fact that it the military force of Segmentum Tempestus? I am half expecting them to have split up the Guard into different parts for different Segmentums, or maybe some sort of seccession has happened and they are going to bring non-Imperial humans more in to the spotlight.

Edit: Actually, it makes sense that it could just be the new name for Stormtroopers. GW love messing around with their fluff and having confusing similarities.

And while the picture so far isn't a lot to go on, I'll jump on the 'actually quite like the Taurox' wagon. Sure, it's a little clunky and impractical... Which would seem to make it fit well with Ogryn

Although if this is an Ogryn transport as rumored, it's a little odd that they would release it before announcing the new Ogryn.

It's possible, but I doubt it. It would require an almost-complete rework of the fluff of the IG. I'm pretty sure they're just trying to get rid of the name 'stormtroopers' to avoid any legal issues.

Storm Trooper Codex. Ace!

I also like the vehicle.

Just like to note that in the Imperial Knight Dex there is a strange looking IG vehicle with 2 missiles on it.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

1.) Stupid to ask the customers to learn complicated wrong Latin. Star of the Soldier-like and Weather of the Soldier-Like (tempestas=storm, tempestus=weather) are not something, you should call a common human army, esp. as the established names Imperial Guard and even Hammer of the Emperor are much better.
2.) No IG Codex in first week seems standard procedure now.
3.) A 10-man-squad of veterans goes up from 42.25$ to 70$ because of cheaper material? Impressive, most impressive. Grab the Kaskin while you still can!
4.) Tonka tank looks stupid, esp. as the turret is crashing the driver with every move. GW designers seem to know tanks only from their Toys-R-Us visits.
5.) Seems Larry Vela got half of it right: Must be shocking to some of you!

The plastic kit will have way more options than th metal cast Kasrkin - which they, by the way, aren't. They're Stormtroopers.

Kasrkin are officially classified by the Departmento Munitorum as the type of Storm Troopers known as Grenadiers because of their heavy weapons and elite tactical training.

Actually, the box is Weather Boy Command

It looks like they tried to Gee dub up Mark's Eisenkern APC.

And made it ugly as hell in the process.

I'll be buying yet more Dreamforge.

That Ork truck cannot be the new, rumoured large tank, not at that price. It is probably quite small (and I hope it is much smaller than Chimera, the aesthetics may work at that size.)

Price point is on par with a Leman Russ kit or the Manticore/Deathstrike or Basilisk kits, at least in USD.

Should give a rough guesstimate of size.

If the rules for the Taurox (it's actually painful to type that, it's such a stupid word) are any good, and with the Knights last month, GW are basically throwing money to Dreamforge. All they'd need to do now is make carapace-armoured troops the best in the codex, giving people an excuse to use Eisenkern en masse, and they might as well cancel the entire IG line

Funny thing is, Dreamforge can now call them Imperial Guard. Who will remember Astariorum Militensiatis?

Well, if the book and new units get me excited enough to embark on a Guard detachment for my Marines, my plan has always been to go "near future" as a theme for my regiment, and use appropriately scaled real world vehicle kits (Blackhawks as Valks/Vendettas for instance) and I always figured on using these..

Spoiler:

As Chimeras, but I guess they've got a new slot to fit. I mention this now, because I suspect, on first impressions, lots of people are going to be looking for alternate kits if the rules are decent.

I have been pondering the DFG APC all morning, as it seems it'll be pretty big...like LR sized.

But more expensive! LOL

Also just realised the Codex is a full priced Codex. I thought maybe that meant it wasn't just a half arsed and/or expansion 'dex, but then I noticed that the Imperial Fists 'dex is a full priced one too, so not sure if that's significant at all.

Vehicle looks to be about the footprint of an ork truck, only far higher and enclosed.

I shall loot the shiz out of it. No idea about the rest though, if this is the 'new imperial guard' then why have just a couple of boxes and a new codex for them listed? These waters are still very muddy.
