I've been toying with a theory that these new models were originally supposed to be part of a unified faction along with the Imperial Knights. I was thinking it would be sort of like a supplement to the IG codex (like Farsight Enclaves, Sentinels of Terra, etc.) except that it detailed the Knightly Houses instead of some more generic IG force. Then apparently someone made the decision to rework the models into IG, separate out the Knights, and release everything this way.

I'll eat my hat if the blingy lions on the new vehicle aren't optional. If you look on the far side of the vehicle, you can see how much the plate sticks out on the other side, that suggests its an interchangeable piece. I reckon the guard one will have a flat armour plate.

As for the stormtrooper berets, they have bee reading too much commando comics, but its a fun look

Yep that looks much better. Or, some of the vehicles from Antenociti. Actually, I would go far as saying this is the worst miniature I have seen from GW for some years.

But, you already have what is surely one the best of the IA books! (at least story-wise)

Hrm, I have to say that I'm not a fan of the Taurox. But, I do thing its salvagable. I might cut the inner slopes off the fenders and connect them with placticard and give it a one long set of tracks. Also the bush guard has got to go, a dozerblade should look good, taking some attection away from the grille and hood while also lending the model a longer apperance counter act its "stumpyness".

As for the storm troopers I'm loving the look they have now, as I kitbash my guard with brettonian and empire bitz they will fit right in!

I can only hope the taurox is the "big stinker" of the release and that the rest are awesome models with at least "good" rules

please format your questions better - took me a few reads to understand what you were asking.
Answer - yes, it's the back end of a Valk.

Also I think the truck might be heavily influenced by the British Jackal:

It's starting to grow on me. Maybe the design is meant to pay homage to our troops. Plus I know a lot of soldiers play 40K, and as the new British Army vehicles have vastly improved the survivability of soldiers versus IEDs, maybe they're the target purchasers (+ 5 years olds that need a new digger).

Looks like my suspicioons (and those of others) were correct, IG is going Call of Duty/Battlefield. We've already got 40k humvees and new awesome storm troopers, we'll get tons of support options with artillery and air strikes a smaller numbers of elite guardsmen.

Still, those storm troopers are so awesome.

We're watching you... scum.

I also think this highlights a wider (and off topic) issue about enticing new comers into the hobby. When I started, you'd buy the boxed game, and your army codex. Then dark millennium a few months later. Even that, at the time seemed daunting at first. But now, like you say, someone thinking of starting out will have to be shown the Rulebook, then the codex for the army they like. Then told about escalation, then stronghold assault, then told about data slates, minidexes, supplements, etc. Really off putting, I think, for new starters.

Those Stormtroopers are simply amazing. and exactly what I need to build some Skitarii to go with my Knight. However, I don't think the beret really works with the gothic armour, I hope they have enough bits to equip all of them with the masked helmet the leader has.

GW legal found out that the name Wydivgür0iguanübg08zcz8zrnudru6bx is not yet copyrighted (and no location in Wales ), just in time before the new Ork Codex cover goes to print

Also: Imagine posters and recruiters on an Imperial agro-world:

Someone said it made them look commando, well commandos don't wear their berets to battle. .

They do in comics and movies, which is a bigger source of inspiration for GW's design aesthetic than real life military.

40K is about what looks cool, not about what's practical.

Actually the British Commandos during WW2 did and the Royal Marine Commandos also did so during the Falklands, so there is a real life basis in this.

Anyway, not really a fan of the name change or even that box on tracks thing.

The Stormtroopers look interesting, though I'm curious to see what else is in the new Codex.

Agree with this as well. But Flash, I'm guessing you were raised, like me, on a diet of British war films and commando comics! Those new storm troopers are a thing of beauty! GW deserve credit for those models.

That being said, that transport thingy looks a mess. It reminds me to much of the A-team's van. I like the A-team, but those tracks look weird.

I'm conflicted. I have a huge IG army, but I no longer really play. However, just because I haven't played in a year, doesn't mean I don't have an army ready to go, the current codex, and all the models I need to field a modern build.

This new IG book plus supplements is where I'll need to either put up or shut up. I"m looking at A hundred bucks just to get the new rules, far more to add the new models.

Do I cheap out, and only pick up the basic codex? Do I shelf the whole thing? It's tough.

I'd like to see the rest of the bits that come with those stormtroopers.
First impressions were meh, they would make decent vostroyans, get rid of the daft berret and add an even more silly fur hat. So they are growing on me. The tank... thing however ... no, just no.

The only thing I like about the new Stormtroopers even is the berets.

The cuirass style armour plates just looks pants, in my view.

I ain't touching that truck. It might be salvageable, but I can either convert or straight up buy a FW replacement at any size.

Once again, the new designers show they don't know how to keep a consistent aesthetic. Pretty much nothing about that vehicle says IG.

The truck looks like it was designed with big wheels and someone said "but the IG don't use wheels"...

Anyone else remember a rumor from a couple years back where someone said IG were getting a non-looted version of the Ork truck?-Was that rumor effectively vindicated?
