Wow, had not visited the thread for a day or so, it is nice to see some new faces in here. Thank you for all the kind comments.
@Master Azalle: It is simply
Sotek Green: Runefang Steel 2:1 base coat
Drakenhof nightshade wash.
Same basecoat mix highlights.
Drakenhof nightshade: Water 1:1 wash to knock it back a little.
Apply weathering where desired.
Am rattling along well with the Tactical Marines, I should have more pictures later after I have had some sleep.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Got the Sergeant for the Tactical Squad done, am really enjoying the start to my Alpha Legion army:
Thanks for looking.

Against my better judgement I bought another Calth boxed set...so what does one do with 60 odd Mark IV Tactical Marines? Well my planned list is this, and many thanks to Paradigm for his advice and guidance on the list via PM.
15 Man Tactical Squad.
15 Man Tactical Squad.
5 Man Meltagun Support Squad.
5 Man Flamer Support Squad.
10 Man Veteran Squad
5 Man Heavy Support Squad (Missile launchers)
5 Man Heavy Support Squad (Heavy Bolters).
I have made 40 of the Tactical Marines so here is some progress:
Veterans with Forge World Alpha Legion Heads:
Heavy support squad:
Meltagun Support Squad:
And finally a further treat that will help in painting the army:
Today I plan on more construction and hopefully a little more painting, thanks for looking.
Some great stuff going off in here. Sadly I haven't even put any paint on mine yet, as I've no idea how Legion Dark Angels are structured. I know they're black and silver with a bit of red but that's as far as I know.
I may nab the paint scheme for your Alpha Legion guys for my 40k traitor astartes. Much better than the blue with a green highlight look!

Legion Terminator Squad (205pts) [Cataphractii Terminator Armour with Combi-bolter and Power Weapon, Heavy Flamer, 4x Legion Terminators, 4x Power Fist]
Legion Veteran Tactical Squad (265pts) [9x Legion Veteran Space Marines, 2x Plasma Gun, Tank Hunters]
Legion Veteran Sergeant [Artificer Armour, Plasma Pistol, Power Weapon]
+ Heavy Support (295pts) +
Legion Heavy Support Squad (135pts)
Legion Heavy Support Squad (160pts)
+ Legion +
Legion Astartes [XX: Alpha Legion]
Gives you a few points to play with at 2000. Add the other Dread and the Termies (in the form of a Command Squad) and you should hit 2500-ish.

Sweet, thank you so much Para. I certainly have another Contemptor to add...I may start getting stupid and looking at tanks after having painted what I have.
Fantastic scheme! They look great! What's your method for highlighting? Is it dry brushing? Edge highlights? With your washing, do you wash all of the armor or just certain areas? Thanks!
Thank you very much. Just edge highlighting with metals for battle damage really. And wash wise I cover the whole miniature but make sure there is no pooling on areas such as the shoulder pads. It is quite simple to do all told.
Hah, he's putting me to shame right now! Here I am, sitting here with a dozen marines on sprue and no idea how I'm going to put them together, and Thraxas has gone and built 60 Marines in a week!

Space Marines are not my thing usually, but the shade you've achieved on those alphas is gorgeous.
The Antares stuff in here is some of the best advertisement for the game I've seen. I was eyeing the stuff in the local shop due to the enthusiasm you've shown here.
I tried your mix a little bit last night. I was a bit off on my mix and my wash needs to watered down a bit. Should I go back over it with the same 2:1 basecoat mix, leaving the recesses, and then do a light wash again with the nightshade?

Hmmmm...difficult to say without seeing your miniature, but it sounds like you have the right idea. It did take me a few test miniatures before I was happy with the scheme, let us know how you get on.
In other news I am just waiting on a delivery before I do a thing that I should have done ages ago...drill out my barrels.
@Da Boss: Thank you, glad to hear that you have had a look at BTGOA. I was actually lucky enough to be included in two of the Warlord Community Showcases:
Thraxas, is it alright if I pm you a pic of one the models I'm working on later tonight? That way I don't derail your thread anymore than I already have. Lol

Of course, or you could post it here. I have no problem with either.
So with the gak about to hit the fan I am about done painting for 2015...so what did I achieve during the year? All told over 250 miniatures painted, so I am happy with that...and too many armies:
Some Iron Warriors:
Some more Chaos:
Some Blood Angels:
Some Skitarii/Ad Mech:
I also started working on some things for other games systems:
And a few of my favourites:
Thank you for looking!

A fantastic year's work, huge amounts of progress and also a definite improvement and greater variety of techniques and methods on show! Splendid stuff!
Thank you everyone, have not managed any more painting due to work and attending a wedding up in York, but I have drilled out the barrels of 60 odd Marines...oh the fun.
