Yeah, that's about where I sit with info. I know Mike isn't coming to CMoN Expo this year, which could mean something, or nothing (since he isn't in the US to begin with).

Digging for that info as well, and will post if I'm able to get it.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Arms of Sorrow is the next project inbound for Sedition Wars.

An additional annoucement regarding Sedition Wars is forthcoming, though I'm not allowed to disclose any information.

Okay, that has me hoping Mike sees sense and goes skirmish/platoon sized TTWG rather than BG at last

I like the board game style personally, and wonder if this might work as one too.

Can't see the videos at work, so that doesn't help much if there's any more info there.

At least with CMON there's a good chance of having a gakton pile of plastic when all is said and done.

You can never have enough big ugly giant bug monsters too.

The soldiers are definitely coming ahead on the cool factor compared to the bugs. I'll be happy to see some sort of mecha (hopefully in scale with the figures this time around)!

Ah that explains it then thanks, I guess most people assumed given that's what CMoN on KS have been known for to date.

Boo urns.

I too assumed with the name Cool MINI they would be giving me miniatures.

Sigh.

Guess I won't be as rabid in my anticipation of it then.

While they have previously focused a lot on miniatures I think they are striving to become more of a game publishing company as opposed to strictly a mini's based company, there's a much broader market for board games and card games then wargaming alone provides. Despite their success with minis Privateer has also started expanding into making card games and they've had the Iron Kingdoms RPG running for years. GW has also found ways to reach huge amounts of new buyers with their partnership in Fantasy Flight making products like the Rogue Trader RPG and Death Angel card game.

Well, at least that saves me from having to decide whether or not to buy tons of alien looking minis from them or not . I've got too many already!

I too am bummed this won't be a minis game, even if it was a board game. I don't need a card game, but a sci-fi board game in the Shadows of Brimstone/Fire Team Zero/Myth or Arcadia Quest style is what I'm after. Mercs Recon looks like the gameplay may be questionable, so that itch still needs scratching. But it's got to have cool looking figures and the gameplay to make it awesome. Too many well branded card games have been terrible.

Looks weird. If it's not a miniatures game, is it a board game with miniatures?

Yes, as in not a miniatures wargame or table top miniatures game. It's a standalone game that's tile or card based.

Tile based with miniatures then?

Card games are a dime a dozen. Cool spacemen soldiers need TOYS dammit!

Yeah, pretty much what I was expecting with "survival horror game" as one of the tag lines.'

If you want turn the horror level of spiders up to 11... imagine spiders that can fly.

Did CMON dump sedition wars? or is there just nothing new lately?

This; I find all this very strange, not in a sinister way, but simply in an "I didn't know this" way. Has there been talk about a problem between McVey and CMON? I was under the impression that the various problems with Sedition Wars were generally considered to be on the McVey end (problems with the rulebook, for example, seem far outside of CMON's area of responsibility).

Several months ago there was a bit of a hurt kerfuffle by McVey's fans over on his boards because CMON was going to a show, or several shows and didn't mention McVey or Sedition Wars at all in their promo materials, nor did they have any SW stuff a the cons. Reading between the lines from Mike's comments around that time seemed to indicate a ..strained relationship. And let's face it, Sedition Wars did neither company any sort of favours in terms of goodwill or reputation.

Not if it's a card game!

Of course, it'd be better if it was a card game ON MOTORCYCLES.

So you're saying since it's nothing that hasn't been done before, it can't be good on it's own merit?

Wouldn't be surprised if this was a board game or "miniatures board game".

Sometime after Zombicide 1 KS and prior to the SedWars kickstarter someone from the company said they wanted to be more active in publishing board games like FFG does.

That seems to be the case, yes?

The art is nice but has a lot to be desired, seems like a theme that has been done to death, but if you like that sort of thing, this looks like more candy for you.

If the rules are a home run I would consider buying. Thematically, it's a meh.

I agree... which is why I was super interested when I thought it was just a preview for miniatures (who cares about perfect art, in that case?). But if the game basically is the art (i.e. a card game or the like) then it's not as impressive to me.

I could see it something akin to Alien Uprising, which was on KS earlier last year.

That started with cardboard components, but had a full set of figures that could replace EVERYTHING on the board.

If we're talking card games though.... uh...

Hell, even Guilds of Cadwallon had tons of minis and bits tossed in. CMON making a pure card game seems an odd choice considering everything they've released so far.

I can see them trying to diversify, but I think going for the card game crowd rather than the Ameritrash board gamers/ mini collectors and painters/ tabletop communities is not going to be bring in anywhere near as much money.

Then again, this is all pure conjecture on my part until we hear any more.

If this game is not a miniatures game or board, I would be interested if it was an enticing group game fulled with screwing people over. Or game that can be converted to a drinking game or strip game.

Zombicide is no longer a team game when you have to strip off clothes.

At first I saw thos pics of space men re-enacting the leech scene from King Kong and I was all ready to throw money at the monitor. Then you said no miniatures, and now my wallet breathes a sigh of relief. No figures, no interest.
