That was all I could think of during the fight, unfortunately it seems that most of the internet thought the same and had already made that joke a million times over by the time I saw the episode.

I think you guys actually needed the Star Wars version:
Oberyn strapped to table: "And my sister, is she alright?"
The Mountain: "I am afraid in your anger, you killed her."
Oberyn: "No, that's not...I loved her. Nnnnnnnooooooooooooooooo!" *stabs Mountain with poison and pops his own eyes out. *

Just finished episode 8 and I'm starting to get a little tired of the whole, killing of all the cool characters thing.
I know I know, its game of thrones, but stuff like the red wedding and that was ok, I could deal with it. But this was the first time I was actually left feeling a bit disappointed. Killing off all the (I guess you could say "good guys") is getting real old real quick, and I'm loosing much interest in the series now compared to the start. This is all my opinion of course

I don't think it's that unfair a thing to say, Tuiman. I certainly felt the same way come the end of the first half of the latest Walking Dead series. It was very much a case of, "ok, so why should I have any sort of emotional investment in these characters, they're all gonna be killed off anyway."
However, the second half of The Walking Dead season did end up being a lot more enjoyable.
I kinda don't want to spoil anything for you about Game of Thrones however, suffice to say, don't give up on the show yet.

Joffrey

All the donkey-caves in the Slavers cities.

Karl Tanner
Tons of bad guys die. You just don't like it because characters that you "like" die.

eh. I was disappointed they went the path that george RR Martin went down that... I actually disliked it completely, After the episode I knew they weren't going to go down a different path. Which actually made me think now they have to improve the source material, because parts of the book I hated and reading then we have certains scenes and characters that I felt like murdering martin after a bit, not because he killed off characters, because I was so bored, and all the characters were boring, there was no progression in some characters, and some characters I wanted to strangle for doing out of character things.

Drogo was an evil bastard. Guy slaughtered countless people. Raped his teenage wife multiple times. Planned on destroying the Seven Kingdoms.
Viserys was no different.
Everyone on that list was truly "evil". Oberyn Martell was hardly a good guy anyways. He was just taking up the cause of the good guy at that moment, for his own selfish reasons.

I think what he was trying to say was that except for Joffrey and *maybe* Drogo, all the evil characters that die are just bit players, while of the good guys it's the big players that are constantly getting killed off - and I'm not even talking about Oberyn here, he's only been there for a few episodes.

Drogo raped his wife? Not so much the way I remember...he took his wife to bed in the customs of his people. That was the only way he ever knew. He was a conqueror and killed people, yeah, but his matrimonial actions aren't cause to call him evil.

Hurr! Ogryn Bone 'Ead!

To all those "Oh Bad Guys always die" Thing, remember this:
George RR Martin was aiming for a partial reality fantasy. Sure you may disagree with me, but George was aiming to show the human spirit and what Power, Prejudice and class do to twist their views upon reality as well as shaping customs and religions.
He aimed for real life and in real life GOOD GUYS DIE.
You guys didn't really think another Lord of the Rings rip off as a TV Show and books was going to be interesting. IMHO, (And some of you may hate me for it but idc) Lord of the Rings was boring as feth! It was so predictable and horribly boring. Oh look Frodos going to die, ah nope, he miraculously survives; seriously I was hoping for the Orcs to win and absolutely destroy the Fellowship and slaughter Rohan and Gondor at least that would be interesting.
With Game of Thrones George makes it interesting by making the characters believable and realistic; three d'ing them and giving them a personality and no real goal except to climb the ladder. When Ned Stark lost his head two things; you could see it coming his honour blinded him and two that he was outnumbered and without a friend in the capital. REAL LIFE
Tyrion survives each battle because of his wit, but now is in a perilous position to end up as the same fate as Ned because he wanted justice.
Each character has its flaws and fatalities, and this gives them personality and I would rather watch that then the LoTR.

Wait. Let me tell you something.... Lord of the Rings and all the ideas from it have rehashed and rehashed over and over again by other fantasy writers. People steal the ideas from Lord of the Rings, where it has a clear good and evil. It is boring to you but to me I still love it, I judge it on its own merits and I see that LOTR has really good things about it and GOT has its own things I like, but somethings I dislike, the thing I dislike is that sometimes people do fall into that LOTR binge of being evil (mainly the others.)
But eh oh well.

Well, you can argue multiculturalism. Certainly you will be able to find a sharia court saying if a husband has sex with his wife, it cannot be rape because they are married . About one hundred years ago, I guess, almost everyone had that mentality.
I agree about you that this is rape, after forced marriage, from a character that is also a bloodthirsty warlord who let his forces commit war crime, and took actual part in some of them. Funny thing is that by this line of thinking, really most people in the book are villains. But yeah, Drogo behaved in a very, very immoral way. People can argue that it was not considered immoral at all by his culture, but what do you want, cardbox villains that are evil for evil's sake?

Drogo raped his wife.

Actually someone did. And won, but it was because the man didn't know what rape was, and it was apart of his custom to do so. And oddly enough the victim actually said it was fine, and got the man reeducated properly, it wasn't his fault for the rape, was it the countries fault for not educating him because psychologically and socially he had no idea what rape was, if there is an absence of emotion and lust, and just 'breeding' it is a different thing entirely.
I am no way defending rape, but maybe they don't know what rape is and is it their fault for what is a social norm and for the woman they accept it and are always ready for that?
Its just food for thought and it happens sometimes where both parties are neither responsible and are just victims of not being educated. This is kind of the case in this world.
