They really are astonishing!
And yeah, unfortunately my home-office/man cave/place where I store my geek toys is at the back of the house, and with three seasons of Zombicide, Rum and Bones with all the add-ons, Blood Rage and soon to be truck load of Dungeon Saga Stuff, in addition to the usual tonnage of models and systems, I'm stuggling with hiding/storage space!

Is that an option? I don't see a $1 option on the KS, only the $100 option (and $90 early bird). Or is it one of those things where I'd have to contact Cmon and ask them to do it?
Yeah, just pledge a buck and select "no reward". You'll get an invite to the pledge manager. It's in the project FAQ Automatically Appended Next Post: Alex C wrote: Alpharius wrote: Alex C wrote:I bowed out, and this won't get me back in, but I must say those models are really nice!
Why'd you bow out?
And if the Apocalypse 5 can't get you back in, what would?!?
Budget directed to Dark Age Outpost, Warpath, Battletech and soon Dropfleet Commander. Can't have everything
I'd still pledge a buck in case you change your mind. You still get access to the pledge manager later on.

I did.
The Others Pride model is a bit stiffer IIRC. The Journey models are certainly gorgeous though, thats for darn sure.
I'll take some comparison photos tonight and give some thoughts.

To me the material seems very similar the only difference is the colour of the PVC Journey being a lighter grey the thinner parts are about as bendy on both models, the mold lines are about the same as well.
Best picture I could get for now using a similar sized miniature

Well how many of us have both a Pride mini and Journey to make a comparison . Work away with more pictures I can't get a decent one at the moment as it's night and I only have 1 light source as my other lamp is broken.

The one (slight) issue I have with the newer CMON boardgame stuff like blood rage is some of the bases are distorted and don't sit flat and are proving a bit tricky to get to stay flat even after heat treatment
(you can see a bit on that pride figure )
but not enough of a problem to stop me picking stuff up if I like the sculpts

Every miniature works perfectly as a gaming piece and does fit into the coloured rings, and the details will quickly be forgotten during a game. The issues I talk about is from a painters point of view. I suspect the same will be the case with heroes and some monster arms/claws in The Others.

This was certainly the case with some of the Kickstarter-exclusive models from Rum & Bones as well - details missing along certain planes, the models being "flat", relatively shallow detail. I was actually a bit upset with some of their Zombicide wave 3 stuff as well, although that wasn't advertised as being so high quality.
Still, most of this stuff is still perfectly adequate for my painting level, and doesn't take hours to assemble and prep, so wins in those areas!
For what its worth, having seen the production models for Mantic's Dungeon Saga, I reckon that those are of a comparable if not higher level. If you can thank Kickstarter for one thing, its giving companies the budget to properly investigate materials like this. Zombicide 1 was in late 2012!

Use hot water and your spears will magically morph straight. Took me about 10 minutes.
All my bases are 100% flat and even. I have zero problems with that.
I honestly cannot understand how you can describe any of these figures as flat. Every single one of them has a realistic pose. Not every miniature needs to have the weapon pointing forward.
My detail is like super sharp, like really. Most plastic miniatures are not even close to it.

I really wish that there was a way to pledge for just mini's. I really like the monster miniatures in this, especially the Apocalypse expansion. But I'm never really going to get any mileage out of the board game and hero miniatures, so dropping the $155 to use maybe 20 miniatures isn't for me.

You'll be able to pick up, at the very least, the shamans box and gods box later on.
Most of the monsters are KS/Convention exclusives, so you'll have more trouble there.

THe dollar will get you in the door, but you cannot order just the add ons. They will require you to buy the minimum pledge level and then the add ons. CMON has never allowed JUST add ons, and there are very few other campaigns that have allowed that.

I think people expect too much from these types of games. At the end of the day, these aren't really what we in the wargaming community would really consider miniatures, they are game pieces. As miniatures they're kind of a mixed bag, as game pieces they are phenomenal. If you keep in mind the difference between the two, you'll probably be happier... also, less likely to feel the need to paint them, just because you can, doesn't necessarily mean you should.

To be honest - my two big Kickstarters so far were Deadzone and Blood Rage, and comparing the models from both games side by side, I'd say that I take high-quality Boardgame plastics over rather middling-to-low-quality wargaming models any time (and that's not even talking about the quality of the designs themselves)... even for a full-on tabletop/skirmish game.
The biggest problem might be lack of variety, but I can see myself taking them out whenever I might want to play Norse in Darklands. I'll probably try one of the stretch goal sets first to see how well they paint.
That said, with the Infinity RPG KS currently going I'm more or less tapped out for KIckstarters till text year. i would have liked to add the Apocalypse set from the Others - I've sent a PM to CMON to get an official statement... but if that's not an option I'll live with waiting for the retail version.

I agree. Blood Rage's miniatures can easily be used as CENTER PIECES for Warhammer or whatever. They are gorgous in design and casting. KoW is loads of models.
I'll use my "common" troopers from Blood Rages as KoW Barbarian units and "most" of the monsters as monsters.
