Subject: How does everybody deal with Lords of war without having one?

as the topic says how does everybody deal with lord of war without owning one? I play Eldar, and AM but do not have any Lord of War yet. I have stormsword and Rev Titan on order but they wont be ready before this next tourny.
Any advice would be great as I know there will be a lot of Lord of War but I still want a chance to win vs the none lord of war lists.
Please help?

Shoot them with melta until they go down. Loading up on AP1 seems like a good choice against any opponent, LoW or not, because of the vehicle damage table changes.
For AM, conscripts with a comissar could do well against a super-heavy walker, if they can sneak in a charge. That'll tie it up for the rest of the game.
For Eldar, drive around in Wave Serpents, kill the other stuff and grab objectives.

Every army has the ability to mass melta shots of high strength low AP tank weapons. Realize that LoW are expensive and you'll often need to concentrate points and units on killing them.

Not every army.
Orks (at present) can't mass anything melta, and have a hard time massing anything with a str higher than 8 and an ap lower than 3. New codex may fix this, and the new (gruesomely expensive) Mek Gunz may help a bit.
Daemons are light on ranged AT also.
That said, if you have melta or lance weapons, go for it

Never played against one, but I'd go melta vets, tank busta boyz, fire dragons, wyches w haywire, etc. Every army has some pure anti tank unit that's rarely worth it. But I'd definitely put my 100 points of vets armed with 10 melta bombs against some 600 points LOW.

The Gargantuan Creatures are a much bigger problem than the Super Heavy Vehicles, since you can overwhelm the SHVs with cheap melta.
For the GC, I'm leaning towards things like Psychic Shriek.

Haywire, Gauss and Focussed Deathrays. Especially the latter. Hit the super-heavy and 2 other models = 6 S10 AP1 hits for the super heavy. Derp.

Super-heavy walkers can Stomp, i.e. a bunch of CC pie plates. Conscripts won't last long.

if it's a walker: Deffrolla, followed by boarding plank.
If it's a normal vehicle, Deffrolla, followed by boarding plank.
D6 S10 hits, plus (assuming powerklaw nob) 4 S9 AP2 attacks or (for warboss with squig) 6 S10 AP2 attacks.
maximum of 12 S10 attacks, half of which have +1 to damage chart. watch them crumple. and that's a minimum of 215 points (BW, rolla, plank and PK AS warboss inside) which will wreck face.
cheaper is trukks of boys. no rolla, but faster, more targets and if the rear armour's 10, the boys will rip it apart.
for eldar use wraithknights, AM would work best with melta.

Depends on the list. If you built your army to fight titans and super heavy tanks and run up against a mechanized infantry army, you'll do great. If you built a list to hunt titans and super heavies and run into Green Tide, you're probably screwed.

meltagun As one of my friendly local gamers put it, they suffer from Meltagun syndrome. "Oh I have a 280 point land raider that's gonna roll forward and smash your front line." "OK, here's my 5 point meltagun " Case in point, I saw a baneblade die to a meltagun, blow up, destroy about 40% of the guard platoons that were supporting it with its apocalyptic explosion.
There's a few other great ways to deal with them, Meltabombs, haywire, certain psychic powers, and you can simply outmaneuver it. The lords of war that can't fly are typically VERY slow, so if you can force them to keep turning around (possibly exposing a vulnerable armor facing to something else) you can cut down their effectiveness.

Pretty sure that it's less than a 5% chance for a single BS3 Melta shot within range to explode a Land Raider. If you're lucky with your dice rolls, then sure you'll see instances of that. But statistically...No. If you go with what ionusx said, an LR Achielles with a powerfield generator (Matt - that's what PFG means) giving a 4++ and AV15, plus re-roll pen results... Yeah.....
Furthermore, Superheavies ignore Explodes! results and instead I believe only subtract d3 hullpoints... unless that Baneblade was damaged, it has 9 HPs, so I'm not sure how that meltagun killed it.

Its d3+1 and thank you for explaining pfg.
I just want to have a chance of winning vs low. I think they should have stayed in apoc where they belong. Looks like the touny circuit here is not going to ban them and it will be common place. So I guess brightlance spam it is amd kill them by stripping hull points. Not sure what I can do vs horde armies tho.

I don't think any legitimate tournament would allow a Transcendent C'Tan. I know they won't be seen at the BAO or NOVA.

My only recommendation is let the TOs know exactly why you are not attending and that you would have had something like the Transcendant C'Tan not be allowed. I highly doubt any GT will allow one, I know the really big tournaments won't. That will filter down to the smaller tournaments shortly. 7th and LOW in tournaments are still new. Most are just tough vehicles or walkers, which are manageable, some just break the game over their collective star god knees.

I used my standard mechanized Eldar army against an IG + Warhound Titan army. The Titan blew up in 2 turns. Serpent shields brought down void shields, lances and fire prisms did the rest. Now, I'm not so sure that I can handle 3 Knights in the same way though
