From Tabletop Fix (hopefully not old news) via Shieldwolf via Kickstarter (??)
KS-2 is going to have a completely different structure from KS-1. Being more precise
No more gold coins (simple $ USD next to each item)
Five-six pledge levels; one for simple add-ons.
Not all items will be allowed as add-ons
Early birds; two pledge levels will have early birds. Both are going to save backers between 5-10$.
First item to be funded are the Shieldmaiden plastic infantry kit.
we are pushing way more plastics early on
Ruleset "War is Coming" will be ready and downloadable for everyone and for free. Backers however are going to receive an extended version that besides the rules is going to have a lot of background history and artwork. We believe it to be really worthwhile.
Value for money is going to be very evident from day-1.
When does it hit?
We promised that we will first wrap up KS-1, and that will be by late November. Launching KS-2 finds us divided between early December or early January, since we understand the augmented expenses we all have in Christmas. We are very heavily thinking 1st or 2nd week of January (certainly not a day later than that!) so any loose ends if KS-1 may be dealt with, but we would like to hear what you think.Plastic multi-part Shieldmaiden Infantry kit
When we started sculpting, we wanted them to be more "sensibly" clothed, but we didn't want to lose the "fantasy" feeling. We are not doing historical minis, we want a distinct fantasy range.

Okay.. that's pretty cool. I hope the Shield-maiden multi-part features options that would be friendly to people wanting to make various RP options or say.. Mordheim. I am specifically thinking about Sisters of Sigmar when I say that (lots of hammers and whips and bludgeoning weapons) but the options for clerics would probably be similar.

Thanks @MLaw, we are first waiting for impressions on our KS-1 to spread out but we did officially announce the KS-2 yesterday (Tabletopfix is extra quick to spread the news and we appreciate their contribution in the Community), so more stuff will be revealed in the next update which should conclude our first Kickstarter :-)

My kickstarter mini's turned up to day - beautiful casts, no flash at all, and no mould lines anywhere that I can see.

Awesome level of detail, especially on the lion's hair and armour plates - hope you can pick them out in the pic below.

Captain of the Guard (already converted to 40k for my vaguely conquistador inspired inquisitor crew)
and
Siberias Lion Rider B (only blu tacked together at the moment - I might end up using the other arm option, I think)

Mine arrived as well. Casts are good as you say! The ogre halfbreed is a lot bigger than I expected, but looks good.

My one quibble would be there's not a lot of fine detail sculpted on some of the models - but I think that is also just a style choice.

Are these "standard" resin?

@Nicky
Seems you chose the 2nd head version on the Captain of the Guard, we thought not many people would have liked it, lol :-)

@RiTides
What does "standard" resin stand for? If I have understood the question correctly, for anything besides the regiments we use the same resin mixture (from the smallest of Goblins till Dragons).

I just saw one of/the Shieldmaiden render. Umm. Can you build some fully clothed girls, too? No midriff showing? My girlfriend just asked me to build a squad of valkyries with swan masks and the shieldmaiden box seems the only way to get a good chunk of females, but they need be practically clothed.

Near-naked berserkeresses would be cool for other projects, but I need some girls that can stand the cold and fight without fighting their breasts

I presume you are reffering to this one? :-)

This is a WiP image we were first presented with back at early June (IIRC). Little by little we will show off how it evolved till the day we launch KS-2.
We know we will not be able to please everyone.
Now I don't want to re-open the discussion on what should be produced since the decisions have been taken and we have already put the work behind it, but in order to explain the reasoning (besides the poll we took under serious consideration) bear with me for a second. Some people will want more flesh showing, others will cry out more armor, others will say it's impractical. It's funny how that works, it's a fantasy army, as long as it's *possible* we don't know why it shouldn't be that way. When we revealed/released our Light Barbarian Infantry regiment, I don't recall a single person saying "why don't they have any armor on, it's freezing and it would be impractical to march into battle like that!" I mean even in real history it was a known fact. Most Celts scorned the use of armour and before about 300 B.C. preferred to fight naked.
Why would women in such dreaded times be ashamed to do the same? And on top of that we have already dismissed the complete naked version, and this goes for all the kits we have designed for this. Shieldmaidens, Warmaidens and all the rest of the plastic lady kits which we cannot reveal atm.

A lot of work has been put into this and a lot more learning on the manufacturing of plastics has occured in the time that has passed ever since KS-1 funded. We will be using CAD technology for these plastics, working with people (both sculptors and manufacturers) who have already collaborated for the largest company in the sector. Our aim is to produce affordable quality fantasy armies* and not only for our plastics to be second to none, we mean to be able one day to produce even better. This will take time, faith and work.

We will be more detailed in the next KS update along with confirmation that shipping wave-2 has finished and KS-1 completed, we will be posting here also to let people know.
In the meanwhile we are not only finishing the development of "War is Coming" but inevitably also submerged in Wyverns and twin-headed dragons!
:-)

*This doesn't mean there will not be some very expensive centerpieces, we spend a lot of money on these and we cannot and will not avoid premium pricing; project Ikia which will hit next year (regular release, not crowdfunding) is also following the same principle. You cannot pretend to have real high quality and affordability for very low prices. If someone says so at the end of the day he will either raise the prices or deliver low(er) quality goods. Bottom line; some stuff is worth spending money on. Period. If someone believes otherwise, we will plainly have to agree that we disagree. :-)
This is the bussiness model of ours and if it fails, we will too. For the time being we see people having pre-ordered the Mammoth and we get messaged continuously for the availability of the wyvern too. Both of which will be available in KS-2, and even if they know about it, they choose to proceed anyway. So we must be doing *something* right... :-)

Didn't you change the Shieldmaidens to have a lot more armor in the first campaign after there was a backlash against the "sexy" versions? I was under the impression that you had settled on a more "Vikings" look with realistic chainmail and armor, and I was pretty interested to buy some. I'm not interested in the usual half-naked fare though, even though I understand that others might be.

I can only speak/reveal for the first two kits (shieldmaidens and warmaidens, their main differences being having chainmail and fur clothing respectfully, along with other head versions). We have added more clothing and chainmail but we have left some parts bare; i.e. there will be a couple of designs that will have a leg wearing only a boot and no additional chainmail/fur or a couple may have the stomach bare/unprotected.
Don't expect anything near Citadel's Sisters of Avelorn which are far away from our design concept but also neither something like Witch Elves clothing versions (being the only female plastic kits that come to my mind atm)

As I said above we will not be able to please everyone, we know. We believe people will still like what we have done and we have promised high quality and value for money from our part.
We'll see how this goes... :-)

I don't mind nakedness per se, which is why *I* hoped for set of almost nude berserkeresses and a set of shieldmaidens looking like the women from Vikings. I would've gotten both, for different projects Or a set that allows for both, full armour and, err, exposed, but belly-free armour doesn't help anyone, at least not me and I'm the only person I know for sure to exist! If they're all.going to rock the bare midriffs and wear skirt armour I can still use them(and I WILL buy at least one box, likely everal if they're done and posed well and cost the same as the Orcs), but clothing some of them up as Valkyries without skin showing will eat up time AND there are no women with little to no clothing.

A reason I wanted the nude variant is that you could basically use them as dollies for all kinds of ladies. Esher gangers. Soldiers. Witch elves. Battle nuns. All would be easier to make with well-posed plastic women you just need to sculpt clothes on and arm instead of full scratch-sculpting. You could've even made them into near-naked viking girls

PS: On the why they'd not fight nude, I'm told that breasts jiggling around are a hinderance when fighting. Sounds reasonable, many tribal or barbarian warriors tuck away their dangly bits away in some sort for fighting, and hunting too.

I am hoping that the combination of Shieldwolf taking a comprehensive poll, reaching out frequently for input from the community, and the topic having been debated/discussed ad-naseaum, we can avoid having this thread turn into another "I want naked warrior women." "No, I want women in fur parkas and chain mail" type discussion again.

Shieldwolf has already paid money to get the sculpts done. They took a lot of input from the community, have been very good natured about the whole thing, and already made a decision on the art direction/level of clothing thing.

To repeat, the sculpts are done. Making suggestions or requests for the type of miniature you want them to make are moot in the context of the upcoming kickstarter.

It sounds like they have gone with a sort of middle of the road way that will hopefully be appealing to many.

(No offense intended to those who have voiced their opinions on what they want out of hypothetical miniatures, I'm just voicing my hope that this thread doesn't mimic the previous exhaustive discussion given where Shieldwolf is in the process)

Well, it's a bet we believe we are going to win; then again, we'll soon find out, we are enjoying the ride for now :-)

TOK this is the first ever all female rank n' file complete army to be created (let alone in hard plastic), so if people like the concept, it should work nicely for everyone. Orcs will have some unique monsters and other goodies but they will follow/blend only after the first couple of kits from the Shieldmaiden faction have funded. We will be showing a lot more stuff and teasers as we progress and come closer, for us it's imperative we conclude KS-1 in the next 13 days max. In the meanhwile all's flowing great and our goblins have been released almost 20 days earlier than scheduled. All pre-orders containing them have shipped.
We hope you enjoy :-)

These goblins were never made available through KS-1, these are retail releases and not at 6$ per piece(!) as we had planned for at 2 gold coins each.
KS-1 never funded these due to our bad lay-out. :-(
And -this may come as a shock to some of you- goblins in our world can be fielded as mercenaries for the Northern Alliance but not the Orcs.

Theoratically we could launch early December but it's going to be 1st or 2nd week of 2016. Not a day after.
We will restrain on commenting on Mantic (for obvious reasons) and instead state that should we ever need thank anyoone that would be Citadel's WHFB whom we feel has offered more than anyone else on the fantasy wargaming scene.
From our point of view we are looking into chimming in our part to the Community and give a new diverse aspect (please note I didn't use 'innovative', lol) in what we feel is a combination of deep fluff, really high quality (in both product and service) and competitive pricing and gaming experience though our War is Coming.

I believe he meant he plans on using the Shieldwolf models to play KoW instead of WHFB since that was replaced by total gak.. err.. Age of Sigmar.
I'm sure you are aware but a lot of people will be buying your range specifically for other games and many won't give your rules a fair shake simply because of their gaming climate. I game at home so I'll give it a shot but I know a lot of groups are resistant to new fantasy rules.. so.. just keep it in mind

Yup, if the shieldmaidens are any good (ie properly armoured) then I'll be buying a load for KoW and Frostgrave.

Here are two more models funded from that Kickstarter, hope you like them as much as we do, their 360's are being processed as we speak
