Sword-Wielding Bloodletter of Khorne

Always wanted to make an army of World Eaters, and I've always liked Daemon Engines since the days of Epic. So lets go!

My Chaos Marines will be made using the true scale 'cheat', with Chaos Warriors bits. Here's a WIP of my version of Kharn, one of my fave characters, and one of the few characters made better by the Horus Heresy novels, IMO.

And a World Eaters Dreadnought (or Helbrute *sigh*)

Off to. Great start, looking forward to more.

A WIP on some Chaos Marines, started painting one just to test colours. Turns out the GW bronzes are far too dark, I'll have to use various golds for the trims. The basing for the army is going to look like city ruins with cracked concrete, but I'm wondering whether to leave the cracks dark, or make them like lava. Thoughts?

Size comparison with one of my guardsmen

As well as the Berzerkers I'm going to have a unit of these Khorne CSM as objective campers and general distraction.

So no painted guys yet, but I built a unit of Berzerkers who will accompany Kharn into battle. Brave or foolish? Maybe just crazy.

I'm crazy about these FW Berzerker bits, holy crapola are they better than the GW ones.

Lookig good!

The only critique I'd give, as I've done a bunch of kitbashing with the chaos warrior bits myself is, cut off the belt completely while leaving the thigh plates. If you leave the belt on, plus the belt from the CSM torso you end up with over elongated waists.

Those FW bitz do look pretty amazing. Must acquire.

Now that another attempt to live without angry little men has failed, I'm going to restart this plog. I'm yet another Warseer refugee, so be nice

Anyway I did eventually paint those Berzerkers

This is the last of the backlog of unposted photos I had.

Test model for my idea of Bloodletters. I want a biomechanical feel to my daemons. The flesh around the chainblade will be painted as though it is being torn by the teeth, and I'm considering giving them severed stumps of arms.

Cap'n Facebeard,

Well another familiar face.

Nice take on the World Eaters.

I would leave the cracks black as you will very rarely play on a lava board and the black will keep the bases contrasting the red and gold.

My two cents,

CB

Thanks Captain Brown, black is what I've gone with.
Here's some cultists I painted a little while ago but hadn't photographed.

Very demonic looking troops with those helmets.

Thanks Captain Brown, they're Dark Elf Executioner heads.

Another group of cultists

Well a fine use of parts to make the models unique.

Nice to see the unit growing.

Love those cultists, may be temped to steal the use of the Dark Elf heads

Juggerlord looks wicked too, what do you run him armed with?

Interesting take on the blood letters, looking forward to seeing them done.

Thanks again Captain - as you know, its a pleasure to fiddle the details of plastic models.

Thanks EDC, steal away, I prob stole it from somewhere myself.
Regarding the Juggernaut, I really don't play at all right now, but he'd prob get an Axe of Khorne and Aura of Dark Glory.
Painting has started on the Bloodletters, which I've made 10 of, and I'm curious bout the finished product too.

So, even more cultists:

And after receiving this in the post I couldn't stop myself from cleaning it up and gluing away

So the Bloodletters turned out alright, though the photos have washed out the gore which I swear is much redder IRL

The bloodletters look like they came out of a video game like The Suffering.

Thanks guys, had to Google that game but I can see what you mean.
Made up some World Eaters Raptors, including a Champ with a power lance just cos I like the Skullcrusher bits

I did take a pic of the third guy but it turned out all fuzzy.
I’ve also made some cultists out of Frostgrave ... er, cultists, but I undercoated them before I took any photos, so they’ll have to wait til later.

Looks awesome. There are some really cool bits in the blood crushers box.

Bloodletters look truly gruesome...which is what you were looking for.

I know how dangerous the cat can be to models...especially the "flick manoeuvre" where they decide they want to clean off the table. ;(

Thanks EDC, it is a great box for bits, though I have plans for the Juggers as well. I've got to remember to use some of the heads for Zerks too.

Cheers Captain, quite happy with the letters Yes, the cat - I can barely remember the days when I could leave models, paints and knives out all the time.
Off topic, do you think you'll go back to Warseer completely when its fixed?

On topic, here's the Cultists I made from the Frostgrave set and my bits boxes

Cap'n Facebeard,

Great use of the kits and your bits to make a coherent and themed Cultist unit.

Ace job there.

Thanks mate, they are quite a good kit really.

Thanks CB, actually had a time making guns for these guys as the Frostgrave kit only comes with 4 crossbows, the rest is hand weapons.

Here's a WIP on a second unit of Berzerkers, this time using some Bloodbound parts

Cap'n Facebeard,

Well the weapons look like they belong on the models.

As to the WarSeer question, I will probably post on both. I did some posting here before WarSeer's crash, just not very much as I was moderating Modelling, Painting & Terrain and that took a lot of time and posting. Experiencing the loss of PLOGs and work it makes sense. In fact I have been a member of Dakka almost as long as WarSeer.

Cheers,

CB
