Thunderwolves are, in fact, what confers rending. Space wolf codex, in the wargear listings after the unit descriptions.

That's why I tend not to bother with wolf claws since rending isn't stackable but thunder hammers and power fists with rending can be quite fun indeed.

Is the Wulfen stone worth the 40 points? It also confers rending but because I get it from the Wolf is it a waste?

I’m sure glad GW is going to all plastic, so the ever-rising cost of white metal won’t impact the cost of their miniatures. |

It depends, if you Thunderlord is leading a Pack of Thunderwolves + a Character or two it could be very worth it for the Rage.

It depends, if you Thunderlord is leading a Pack of Thunderwolves + a Character or two it could be very worth it for the Rage.
If you're going for a heavy deathstar like this then I'd say use it but I'd personally have two separate TWC units so I will probably be passing up on this Relic.

If you're going for a heavy deathstar like this then I'd say use it but I'd personally have two separate TWC units so I will probably be passing up on this Relic.
I will probably give it a try a few times and see how it does, but I am weird, things like that work for me.

Actually it's the opposite. Wolf claws have shred which does stack. Power fists and thunder hammers on the other hand get absolutely nothing from rend on twc since they are S10 ap2. Obviously though, S10 is amazing on it's own.

But yeah, I'd leave TWC with a combination of storm shields, melta bombs, and either frost weapons or claws on a handful.

Personally Ive found that wolf claws (2 riders with 1 claw and 1 shield; and a third rider with 2 claws) work best for all around combat. Add the character Herald Deathwolf to the squad. Herald gives the unit outflank (utilizing your AS and allows you to get into combat faster in most cases). On top of outflank he gives your unit furious charge, which means on the charge your unit hits with 16 S7 AP3, Shred, Rending hits in addition to Herald's 6 hits @ S8 AP2 Rending. If you come across a unit with flamers put Herald up front as he is IMMUNE to all flamer attacks (including magic). If flamers are not likely keep the 2 SS regulars up front with Herald & 2-claws in the rear. On average you'll get 2 glances/pens on AV14; and any infantry get decimated! So all-around great combat group!

You're correct, I think I'm still stuck on the old codex train of thought when it comes to equipping certain weapons. Not to disagree though, I've yet to find any complaints about using a hammer or fist against MC and getting a rending in there

Pretty sure tongue in cheek, rending wont help if you are S10.
Random thought that would never matter. Rending makes your wound ap2 right? What if you have an iron priest attacking with his servo harness. He is then S10 AP1, but he gets a rend, would it then be AP2? I know it doesn't matter, as ap1 only hits vehicles, and rend doesn't make it ap2 vs vehicles anymore.

Very tongue in cheek, I'd suggest an Ork smilie that has his tongue in cheek but I think it'd be inappropriate since we all know what it looks like when you stick your tongue in your cheek.
As someone else mentioned before I won't be taking the fist on the pack leader just to avoid combat but I'm wondering if a Frost Blade wouldn't be a terrible idea to throw in. Thoughts?

So to be clear giving TWC either a fist or a hammer is a waste then? My main opponent is going to be Orks. What would be the best choice for my TWC against mobs? He is also running a Morkanaught. So would a fist and a hammer be wise to field in this instance?

Hammer is kind of a waste, but Fist is absolutely not(and hammer only a waste because fist is cheaper). It becomes S10 on TWC. Insta death to T4 and 5, can wreck vehicles without needing "good" rolls.

It does depend, I have a few floating around for the Concussion Effect, but that number will be going down.
I have been using a Thunderlord with a Wolf Claw/Power Fist combo with great effect.

I'm planning on running a squad of 6 plus harald with 4xSS & WC and 2xPF & bolt pistol (for the extra attacks).
I'll be testing it out tomorrow against a tyranid horde army so we'll see how it goes butt I feel like it should do well. Is outflank worth it though? That would mean the earliest they could get into combat would be turn 3. Whereas I feel like turn two or possibly even turn one (if I go second) might be possible if I field them from the front. I'm thinking of using a void soled to protect them as they head into the center field. Automatically Appended Next Post:
Two WC will get you the extra attack for ten points but I think the 3++ is better option for just five point more than the extra claw
