I want to know, what board game would you say is your favorite? Which had you played and what would you recommend?

Chess. Easy to learn, hard to master.

On a more serious note, Dominant Species is a very fun game I enjoy, although it takes a very long time to play. It's hard to get anybody to enjoy it with me!
Arkham Horror is a big contender, as is Forbidden Island(very family friendly), and Pandemic is fun too.

Black Bases and Grey Plastic Forever:My quaint little hobby blog.

40k- The Kumunga Swarm (more)
Count Mortimer’s Private Security Force/Excavation Team (building)
Kabal of the Grieving Widow (less)

Plus other games- miniature and cardboard both.

Axis and Allies: Europe. Despite crazy balance (1 vs 3 where three Allied nations surround Germany and the US and Germany REALLY outclass Britain and the Soviets economically) as well as a rather large amount of tank spam, I still find it an enjoyable game

My fiance and I prefer cooperative games when we're both playing, so we enjoy the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game (Bought the Skull and Shackles from our FLGS last night), Pandemic, Arkham Horror, and Castle Panic.

From my old gaming group, board game night often included Battle Star Galactica, Dominion, Arkham Horror, Elder Sign, talisman, Flux, Zombee Dice, and a few others. All of them are great games.

It’s hard to pin down a favorite. Different games scratch a different itch.

I did have a blast playing King of Tokyo last weekend, but also enjoyed a few games to Ticket to Ride (both the classic US map and Europe) and Pandemic.

But Risk and it’s variants are fun, as well as Small World, Puerto Rico, and Agricola.

I always loved those obscure board games that had little rube goldberg machines as part of their play. Sadly, they never lasted beyond a month of play, but they were fun to put together and watch them work.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Yesss! That was one of the ones I remember most fonly.

It was by no means alone, but it was probably the best.

I don't know if I have a favorite. I have played a lot of board games and they all have their strengths and weaknesses. I've been playing a lot of Suburbia in recent months, and a fair amount of Shogun too. Ascension is always popular in my game group if you count deck builders.

It really depends what kind of mood I'm in I guess.

There are so, so many, but if I had to pick my go-to-game that I will likely always fall back on, nothing hits the spot quite like Lords of Waterdeep.

Pandemic is awesome, as is Betrayal at House on the Hill.

My all time favorite has to go to Resistance though. Seriously guys, play Resistance.

Too many to choose, but I do enjoy a rousing game of Kill/Save Dr. Lucky.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Top few at the moment are:

Descent - rules can be a bit involved, but 2nd edition is an improvement. Really fun 'dungeon crawl' game, good with 3 or 4 players.

Spartacus: Blood on the Sand - this won awards and it is easy to see why. This is the best boardgame I have ever played - it's more Machiavellian than Monopoly, with elements of wargaming involved and levelling up your gladiators (and giving the 'thumbs down' to your friend's favourite!) is tremendous fun. If you have 3 mates who want to play, i guarantee that you won't have more fun with a board game. I've actually had fancy-dress themed events with my friends centred around playing this game, it's one that girls will enjoy playing too!

Doom - This doesn't get much publicity but it's a great deal of fun, good one again with 3-4 players, and you can get to use a BFG against a cyber-demon

I've still got that in the wrapping, must give it a go!

Ninjato, 7 Wonders, Mutant Chronicles Seige of the Citadel, or the classic Parker Brothers version of Survive. I'll also recommend Sparticus as long as you're playing with folks who understand that the whole point of the game is to do the best job of shafting your opponent at just the right time and NOT about being nice.

A Touch of Evil - by Flying Frog.

It's Sleepy Hollow the boardgame. And based on how many/few expansions you use and the player set up (co-op, team, solo or competitive) along with customizable extra rules and whatnot you can drastically change the playtime and complexity. Flying Frog is huge into theme, which I really dig in a boardgame.

Fortune and Glory is also really good, as is Betrayal at House on the Hill.

There is not this idea.

Settlers of Cataan, if only because it's an excellent game for proving the lengths my sister will go to to get longest road. All will fall. All will burn.

Also my real genuine favorite board game is Trivial Pursuit, because I just don't have much time for board games that take an entire evening just to open the box. It is my shame.

I'd have to say my favorites are the ones best played with "adult beverages" handy.

So, that includes Smart Ass, What's Yours Like, Loaded Question, The Game of Things, etc.

If none of those are being played, a good game of Axis and Allies is always quite fun.
