Keep those Dusk Raiders coming! Looks like you are making some hard core bases too.

That is what I meant by it.

Oh nice! Well I am glad to have been on it!

I will do sir! I am really liking this project, haven't felt this motivated in a while. But yeah I love the bases they are done by a company called dragon forge design, you should check them out as they are fairly cheap and have lots of great options.

Small update, I put the layer coat down on the dusk raiders and my thudd gun crew came in and I posed them for their hydra. They are just balancing on right now, I will glue them on after everything is painted.

Hey all I got a new lightbox, well I actually bought one instead of using printer paper, and I re took my dusk raider pictures. I have noticed a distinct difference in picture quality but was wondering what everyone's opinion on the pictures was? Better, about the same? Worse ?

That pic is much better! Some General tips on photography, if you're interested;

If your camera has a setting called ISO, turn it to minimum, this will make the colours sharper and reduce blurring/glare on bright days.

With the setup you have there, up the exposure time; this lets much more light in, and therefore give a more accurate representation of the colours. This is the best thing to do when using a white background, I've found.

If you are holding the camera close, try instead moving away and zooming in, this will reduce the chance you or the camera cast a shadow.

You may already be doing some of that, but it might help if not.

Thanks for the advice man, I was able to lower to ISO to a minimum and set exposure to maximum on my s3 and I think the pictures came out better, but do you think I should lower the exposure a tad, like instead of 2.0+ maybe 1.75+?

Here are some of the pictures I re took

Woah, loads better! I'd just say try it at +1.75 or even 1.5, and don't be afraid to vary it depending on the results each time. Presumably it's not a massively difficult process to change it on your camera, so it is worth taking the time to play around and find the best setup!

Yeah it is a phone camera, albeit a galaxy one, so it is easy to make changes on the fly.

Hopefully everyone had a good easter weekend, I didn't get a whole lot of painting done due to a 8 hour warhammer fantasy game on saturday and family stuff on sunday. But I did get some paint on my Dusk Raiders praetor aka Praetor Hengist. I'll hopefully have him close to done or done by next week.

I was able to get the three tactical marines almost finished minus the bases, the guy on the far lefts arm would not reach up to the bolter and none of the other arms would either. Honestly I should of blue tacked the arms in to get the poses but I didn't. So I found an auspex in my bitz box and will be placing that in his hand instead.

So I finished the three marines and got some more work on praetor hengist done. It was my first time painting leather so tell me what you all think!

Today was a fairly productive day, went down to the local store and played a few games and almost finished up my praetor. What does everyone think of the leather? It is my first time trying it and am looking for some tips and pointers.

The leather is good looking. Perhaps a highlight on the studs and edges?

Yeah the studs are next I am just afraid of running over them and having the repaint the leather, I probably should of done the studs first then the actual leather but I didn't.

So I finally finished my praetor for my dusk raiders, it was a lot of firsts for me specifically skin tones, and leather but I am very happy with the way it came out.

Thanks man! The skin tone was much easier to learn than I thought so I will be using it a lot more in the future.

Been pretty busy this past week, but after talking to a friend who's painting skills I greatly respect I made a few more tweaks to the praetor and am finally calling it finished.

So I got my adepticon order a few days ago and I finally got around to putting the terminators and rhino together, still waiting on the bases from dragonforge. I still have five terminators to left to go.

I also have put together some dumpsters for my urban terrain table and made a test base for my upcoming necrons. Tell me what you all think of the base, I am trying to go for a sorta mars feel to it.

Man, been a while since I commented. I don't know where to start. I'm glad you are sticking with the DKoK, nothing quite matches up with them aestheticly. The Dusk Raiders look great too. I particularly like the chainsaw bayonets. Very grim darkish.

Ah, Cataphractii. Without a doubt the best Terminator armour in 40k. This should be awesome!

Love the base, very nice without being distracting!

I love the chainsaw bayonets ever since they used them in gears of war. But I will be switching back to krieg once I finish up these marines, told myself I can't start the krieg until I finish them first.

Honestly they are the best looking terminators, and their armor actually protects their necks! I am glad the base looks good to others, I was a bit worried it would be too little.
