I missed seeing it in the first episode.
I also missed Skye doing that...what can I say...3 kids sometimes get a bit distracting :p

Inhumans and Kree? I can see that. I thought I rwad somewhere that the Inhumans may be worked into an upcoming movie.
If that is the case....do you think the "main" ones like Black Bolt and Medusa will make an appearance? The thing is, the Inhumans are being massively pushed in comics at the moment, and there are pretty heavy rumours of an Inhumans movie at some point, but Marvel has also said that they won't be doing any more origin stories in films, so I don't think they'll try to explain who the Inhumans are all in one film. it's leaves the only other medium in which the Inhumans can be introduced to be Agents of Shield; there's no reason to do it in a comic, as the only people who'd read the comic already know who the Inhumans are, and they're not the people that they need to be introduced to.
So yeah, I reckon they're going to use Agents of Shield to lead in to and introduce the Inhumans, possibly with Attilan being on the far side of the moon (explaining why it hasn't previously been referenced) that turns up to reclaim the Terrigen crystal (obelisk) or to contain those that undergo Terrigenesis due to it.

Yup, Inhumans are the result of Kree meddling with human DNA. Which is why I think the connection to the blue alien, and therefore likely the Kree, is important.
Technically all we know so far is that it has a connection to the blue alien from Tahiti, but the aforementioned blue alien looked like a Kree, and the number of coincidences with the storytelling seem to point towards it being a slight rebelling of the Kree/inhuman origin, rather than anything new written specifically for the show.

Inhuman movie? I could see that. Tie it into GOTG somehow. They can make a whole cosmic side universe if they wanted now with the success of GOTG.

I can't help feel like SHIELD is back in "spinning our wheels" mode. Okay, it is a better show now than in season one, not nearly as boring, but the plot is once again moving at a sluggish pace. I don't really care about Hydra as villians nor SHIELD as heroes and the missions still seem like there is never any real risk to the team. There's nothing for the audience to become emotionally invested in. Whedon is using a larger pallet but it's still paint by numbers.

I'm worried that we're in a place where the audience knows the blue alien is a Kree, but AoS can't say so until Marvel uses them in another movie. Plus the show does the same thing Lost did, only having the dramatic mythology-forwarding moments in the last few moments of an episode. It's frustrating.
But next week we get Mockingbird, and I'm convinced she's going to end up being Hunter's ex-wife.

I haven't read any of the thread because I just started watching the show.
I watched the Pilot. I can see why the pilot sort of worked. The main antagnoist/conflict is centered around very timely cocerns around Blue Collar values. The main "villain" isn't a villain but a guy who got juiced up on Extremis so that he could heal from a work injury that cost him his job, his wife, and his house. He just wants to do what is right, and feels a bit betrayed by the system. He did what he was suppose to do all his life, and it got him in a worse position. This narrative arc seemed really relevant to today's modern network viewers.
Sadly, the conclusion of this narrative arc is not comforting. Basically, "the man" represented by S.H.I.E.L.D. will empathize with your plight and then put you down. Why would they have the good guys do that? Because the Blue Collar Worker was about to explode and endager everyone? Huh, is this a subtext about the danger of class conflict? For a pilot, the subtext was pretty interesting. Then again, I may just be putting on my pretencious hat again.
As a pilot, it introduces the characters we will need to know, has the Whedon-esque snappy and too-knowing way, and Agent Coulson. However, he seems a bit less Nebbish and more ironic cool post-death than pre-death. The others.... well.... they are only archtypes at this point. They still need to grow into real characters.

My vote is for the 'pretentious hat' I'm afraid.
So my bet would be the subtext is. "Sometimes gak happens and there's no good solution so try to save the most people possible."
But it's been a year since I saw it.
I just saw the 'mid-season' finale of season 2. I've got to say, I'm more read-up than your normal TV watcher person on comics stuff (being the geeky type, obviously). However, I've never read the actual comics (I think I've mentioned before, in a small town in Scotland, comics didn't exactly exist much in the 80's and 90's except for the occasional annual, which I'm pretty sure weren't even 'proper' storylines...)
Anyhow. Long story, short question...
WTF was that on about then?
And, on a side not. Time really hasn't made Kyle McLaughlin any less rubbish as an actor.

Amusingly, this comment was made two days after the release of the first issue of the new Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. comic series So yeah, there is a comic, but it's not based on one another, it's merely using the characters in the main 616 universe.

Ya think? Anyway, chug through the next however many episodes - 17 or so - until you finally hit the end of the Season and things stop sucking (that said, the one on the train was pretty cool). It'll all be worthwhile for Season 2. Compel wrote:I was more referring to 'The Comics' in general, anyhows.
The doctor is actually Mr. Hyde, a villain from the comics. His daughter in the comics is Daisy Johnson, aka Quake, who can create earthquakes. In the episode of Agents of SHIELD, he calls Skye "Daisy", and after she undergoes terragenisis (the whole crystal/mist/cocoon thing), she gains her powers, which appear to be shockwaves (like earthquakes!). So Skye is the MCU's Quake.

There have been SHIELD comics in the past too but they have nothing to do with this show. This show is its own thing. Pretty much everything in it will be different than the comic book universe.

So, on Arrow they have introduced screenshots of Brandon Routh suited up as the Atom.
Now compare that to what Agents of SHIELD did for Deathlok.
Marvel/Disney/ABC clearly doesn't give a crap about this show other than its utility in servicing the movies somehow.

Well that is how Deathlok started in the show but as his skin and cloth gets degraded he is moving closer to the comic version. I think there was an X-ray showing that his skull looked like the comics version underneath. Still, it is pretty rough to see there and the ATOM suit isn't to shabby.

Eh, to me at least it's not about how it looks, it's about the story. While I'll agree that, all things told, Arrow beats AoS pretty squarely (series 1 and 2 at least, I have yet to see 3 but I can't see it being any different), AoS still has, by and large, a very interesting plot and good characters. While parts of the show are starting to get wearing (Simmons, please just leave! NOW!), Clark Gregg remains excellent in the lead, and the introduction of Whitehall, Hyde, Hunter and Mockingbird in series 2, along with Skye's sub-plot (which now seems to be the main plot) has changed things up enough to keep it interesting.
The writing and acting (for the most part) is plenty good enough that the special effects (or lack thereof) don't bother me as much as they might, so I'm sill eagerly awaiting series 2.2.
I'd still happily put it in the top 3 TV shows on at the moment (1 and 2 being Arrow and Musketeers respectively).

And bear in mind that CW is considering a spin off for the Atom. So it makes far more sense to spend the money on the costume because it might need to carry a show. A much fairer comparison would be Deathlok with Firestorm in Flash (or whatever his name is) that is basically a sweatshirt with a couple of wires attached to it.

Firestorm doesn't really have a costume (yet). He just has a jacket... although I think I remember some previews of his "suit" that weren't all that impressive.
Still, I'm worried about the Iron Man/Atom comparisons. "Super rich super genius builds a robo-suit to fight crime" just comes across as too much of a copy (I know The Atom isn't a copy of Stark or vice versa, and that in the comics Atom's powers are very different).
