On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

I actually saw the Scarface model in the flesh at Wayland Games a year or so ago, it's absolutely stunning and even more so when you see the actual size of the thing.

Not sure he would deface the existing studio mini, especially as this one has had some physical damage effect applied to it - I spoke to one of the CB guys, apparently Angel has an unbelievable painting speed and knocks out miniatures of this quality at the speed most people paint regiment-type minis (while he is sat chatting and looking over his shoulder - it makes you sick! ). He's done multiple versions of the same mini before, both for CB and for commission works, wouldn't be at all surprised if he did the same with Scarface.

I'm guessing it's a bootleg scarface/scarface combo to promo Angel's new book.

He did the same thing actually to the components of the Neoterra Starter that had been previously painted. The Swiss Guard with ML was the one which saw the most work done.

Do you mean actually amended the miniature he had already painted into a different style, or painted a new one?

He amended the miniature he had already painted.

He's mentioned before that they only give him one of each model; so he does not have room to screw up.

Well, it was always going to be 2016--but I should have clarified a bit better.

The initial timeframe before N3 was looking like October/November of 2015. Now it looks like we're not going to see it, period, until 2016.

Its a shame, but it gives me time to finish Bakunin/Corregidor before Tunguska hit game.

Every Nomad kid want to be a Tomcat when they grow up.

Have to be honest, I'm not sold at all on parts of the new website.

Specifically, not having the whole miniature ranges in the general 'gallery' section is a massive minus - was great before, just being able to look through the whole miniature range for each faction, and then being able to view some of the background at the same time.

Pretty sure that's temporary. It's been said the website is still in progress.

Hey do we know if CB will be involved in creating a mobile app or iPad app for the new army builder?
No biggie if there isn't. I'm sure MayaNet or one of the other few will get a N3 update when there are new profiles to look at.

They planned to use HTML5, which is a cross platform standard that does away with the need for flash or native apps. You'll be able to just use the site with any browser that supports the HTML5 standard, and it should do away with that annoying loading every other time you try to access ARMY4.

The only problem is that HTML5, when used as such, is still in its infancy as a fully cross platform app platform. Many big name companies have expressed frustration at HTML5 implementations in platforms, preferring to go with natively developed apps (coded in a dedicated programming language for one platform specifically).

Thing is, natively developed apps are expensive to develop, so that's why CB is using HTML5.

Yah this is why I wish they'd drop the complete army list PDF.
Updating their army builder isn't necessary right this instant, it's more of a bonus for those of us too lazy to open an excel spreadsheet.
All the existing 3rd party tools out there will be diligently updated by us CB cultists.

We already know that, he just wants it soon.

Army building programs are important nowadays, well, they've always been important. It's just that they've been hard to make and use up until now.

I would argue that some of the most successful games out there are successful because they either made army building easy, or had software that made it easy.

Thing is, with games like 40k or wm/h you'd use much more standard lists repeatedly than with infinity. The reason those AB etc apps are so popular is that outside of tournaments, many of us write lists <5m prior to deployment. In games where pulling up a couple of books is AOK, that's usually not really a thing...

And believe me, we already know that too!

I'm also pretty sure that within minutes of either the updated army profile PDFs and/or the updated army builder getting released, we'll hear about it here.

A new little snippet is up on their homepage. It's nothing new, just a little text about how they reacted when they proposed shooting from camo would be a ftf roll.

Have any of you out there tried a game using the few units in the N3 rule book?

I'm curious to see how it would be. The choice of units doesn't vary all that much between the factions, but I don't see why we should wait to start getting a feel for things with the new rules.

In other news and rumors.... Any speculation on Gencon releases for next year?
New sectorial boxes? I figure they will want to push out boxes and models from the core books, as well as start releasing models that will be found in the upcoming new sectorials.

At this point, I'd expect them to do a Krampus figure for either the Combined Army or the Tohaa.

What ever happened to that special Joan of Arc if you preorder the paint book? I cant find any art on it and want to know if its worth waiting or grabbing one of her already out versions.

Spoiler:

Note that it's been confirmed that Joan will have a normal release. The Giraldez book mini will simply be a unique pose only. Due to digital sculpting, both the special and normal releases will essentially be the same scupt but in different poses.

Have got high, high hopes for the Joan of Arc mini!

In fact, probably the one thing that will then tip me into get the Military Order faction, along with the Seraph being released for it..

(Puts Trolling hat on, but only partly)

I got the N3 books from my local FLGS and he was pretty pissed as many had pre ordered the book but were cancelling after he had received stock because they got the free PDF instead, he was out of pocket by a fair amount as retailers had been told that the PDF wouldn't be available for 3 months so foilk could buy the book. A fair few of us bought the book anyway but one guy just came up to him with the pdf on an ipad and said "Oh I don't need the book as I can get it free" I had to hold him back lol.

However the books, while very nice printing are packed in cheap card and it crumples easily (almost all sets received have some crumpling, and the book dotn fit in the case, which is annoying as they will dog ear quicker.

At £50 I was shocked, as the 40K 7Th ed boom is hard bound, 3 books and in a sturdier slipcase for the same money, I thought the N3 books were going to be hardbound like the N2 book in a slipcase, so when I saw they were softback I was surprised, especially given the cost.

Did make me laugh a bit that I felt that the infinithy product was too expensive for what you got, when seen against the 7th ed rulebook from GW.

However, its only a observation.

One thing most of us in our club we run agree on, the fact that Tohaa and Aleph and some rules from human sphere weren't in the N3 book (and we know the reasons why) was a poor decision as a lot of people are asking us older players why they have to buy old books to play a new edition.

Also the PDF's not being ready at the same time was a missed goal too, again we know why and we aren't whining, it just made the release seem very hap hazard and not joined up.

It will all sort itself out by Feb, but a lot of people are put off the game because of the faffing about at release.

They have said since N3's announcment that Aleph and Tohaa would not factor into the book, for one simple reason. The books form a storyline, and this book replaces the core rulebook. Aleph and Tohaa haven't been introduced yet.

Since you put your trolling hat on, let me put mine on?

It's not CB's fault you didn't do any research into the product and set false expectations to let yourself down.

Not many would disagree, but I can definitely see the difference. The PDF for the rules is just the same PDF that was sent to the printers for the Rulebook part of the set, just with some lower quality imagery to bring the size down.

The overall army list PDFs are the complete rebalancing of the game. I'd much prefer they take their time on that.

In regards to your trolling parry, I repost!

I actually knew they wouldn't be in the book, but a LOT of people at the club had no idea, they just knew CB was releasing a 'New edition'.

It has also been mentioned on here and a couple of other forums, while it was more common knowledge that it was basically a reprint, the official Infinity website didn't make it very clear at all.

Not everyone scours forums for news, they expect it from the company itself or Social media updates etc.

Its not beyond the realms of possibility to expect that not everyone reads forums but does play wargames.
