I agree, I think the current Naffatun sculpts are just fine. Really good even !

Will definitely be interesting to see what direction they decide to take with the new ones.

An update on AG's facebook page with a few interesting titbits

Hello everyone
I'm a little tired, and I would like to apologize. April was a tough month. I painted many miniatures, and I have many new projects and ideas running around in my head. But as all you know, there are only so many hours in the day, and I try to make sure I have some time for all of you.
In May, I have many more miniatures to paint. I still cannot show anything yet, but these miniatures are amazing. This year Gencon will be great... wink emoticon
In July I'll publish a great tutorial on Facebook. It will have many pictures and I hope you will like it.
I have not forgotten that I have to paint a Joan of Arc and, when finished, raffle it off among the followers of this page. I think that I could start painting in early June.
Finally on Friday there will be a big surprise in the website Customeeple , do not miss it
See you,
Angel Giraldez

Huh, I hadn't noticed. I haven't been able to stay up as late since work picked up for the year, so I've just been reluctantly checking in the morning. After the Imperial Assault fiasco, I had decided to stop checking... but, but... Bolts!

I knew that if I waited, I'd eventually get those Bolts for a decent price. Luckily, their updates happen around 10pm PST, so I've got no problem grabbing them.

Ángel Giraldez has published in Facebook his masterclasses schedule for Gen-Con. I'm trying to copypaste it here but I'm unable to do it in my not-so-smartphone. The point is, a couple of classes are named "How to paint USAriadna". So...

This has been getting pushed elsewhere as a sign that we're going to get the USAriadna Sectorial box or the Grunts SWC box as an "early GenCon release exclusive!", since Fusiliers were used in a similar fashion last year with Icestorm having an early release at GenCon and then releasing the individual starters towards Christmas.

Personally? I'm thinking this supports the rumor of another "Icestorm" styled box, with Ariadna and Yu Jing as the armies focused on. It would let them redo the starter sets for both factions, and I would be very surprised to not see Grunts make an appearance in any future Ariadna starter set.

It also would make more sense than Grunts or the USAriadna Sectorial box as a GenCon exclusive, since they traditionally do something 'big' like a TAG.

I hope so. Those kinds of boxed sets are the way to go. Helps generate lots of interest and disseminate the basic models. As long as they use the opportunity to replace outdated models in the range I'm all for it.

Is that a natural 21?

Scale creep? Not really. He just has thicker legs is all. This update pleases me greatly. I love the newer Intruder design and the simple shooting pose is very nice to see. We haven't had a plain shooting pose in a long time.

Yeaahh...until you actually have one of the two existing Intruders in hand, it's hard to impress upon you how small they actually are when compared to the stuff that was in Icestorm(and by extension the new Nomad starter).

The new Intruder HMG is, from the looks of things, a CAD using the firing Alguacil as a base.

Except he doesn't look much bigger than the CJC box one at all. His shoulders look wider and his legs thicker, but he's not ridiculous next to the others.

I think he looks awesome.

They've been a bit sneaky with that middle picture.
He's substantially bulkier than the other two.

I'm mostly ok with the shift as long as it has it's own consistency. It's mostly upsetting because some of the most dramatic examples of the change are quite recent models that now look super tiny.

It's really upsetting to me, personally, because I invested very heavily into Corregidor(three starter sets, a pair of Geckos, an Iguana, a Tsyklon Sputnik box, a Spitfire Wildcat blister, Hellcat Hacker/HMG blister, 2x Tomcats with DEPs, and a Tomcat Engineer) --only to have my entire "redesigned" line become waifs when compared to Juan the Alguacil from the Icestorm Nomad box, which was undergoing computer assisted design at the same time.

The whole selling point of CAD was supposed to be that it would make designing easier and to ensure that things remained in a consistent scale...yet, they could not deliver on that with an entire redesign on the Corregidor range.

My two cents on this:
Corvus Belli is now releasing better models than ever and they are also more scale coherent than ever.

Back in the old days, 2005-2010 when different Infinity sculptors were making manually their figures there was a lack of consistency due to different styles and artistic visions working for the same range. In the same year you could have Yannick Hennebo releasing figures fro Yu Jing and Jose Roig making the PanO figures. It was back then when scale creepyness was happening.

Now we have a new wave of people pointing at scale issues in INFINITY, but this is happening when Corvus Belli is making all their their models digitally. Now all sculptors are delivering more coherent figures than ever.
I can understand that the differences between new modles and old models, specially in a range with 10 years in the market, it becomes more obvious to everyone who looks at the gallery that the newest models and old models have scale issues.
Those issues have been always there, the quality gap is more obvious now because CB is delivering better miniatures.

Incorrect.
The Corregidor Starter Pack was traditionally sculpted by Pedro Fernandez.

The Icestorm New Nomads Starter Pack was digitally sculpted by Javier Urena.

If everything was sculpted digitally then the whole thing would be coherent. Corregidor is suffering from the digital step forward that CB has executed during 2014.

The "digital step forward" was underway long before 2014.

You understand that this wasn't a one and done thing, right? We had the dossier and concept art for Alguaciles circa early/mid 2013--and were told that the standard Nomad starter set was going to be resculpted at that same timeframe?

And that they flat-out said that "We are redesigning the entire Corregidor range all at once, with the intention of the CJC starter being the keystone of the range"?

So please. Stop misrepresenting the issue as though it's "Oops, they messed up". The CJC starter was out for almost a year by the time that they finished the Nomad starter pack.

They had plenty of time to stop and check things in comparison to the CJC starter, but plowed on ahead anyways. It's not like it would have hurt their schedule any to print out some test sculpts and check them versus the existing range.

OK, if that is the case, WHY did CB do this then?

And I'll say that there are 'scale issues' here, and it is probably because CB wants to 'up' the size of things to a 'friendlier' painting and gaming scale, without going 'full heroic'.

Are you suggesting that all Intruders have the same diet and fitness regimens and are chosen for duty based on their ability to fit into a 'one size fits all' suit?

C'mon, a little variety in body shape is fine.

So many games, so little time.

So many models, even less time.

Yeah that probably is the reason. I mean some of the older models (and ones like the CJC) really are tiny. I haven't painted any of my Infinity yet because it's just so small and detailed haha. But I definitely see the point that, especially in the CJC case, they should have been in the same scale, because they completely overhauled the sectorial and then halfway through changed the scale, when they could have easily controlled it. The models are still gorgeous, but they are dwarfed by newer models.
