Who knows at this point?
There's some speculation that they just wanted to push the CJC starter out the door as quickly as possible so that there would be Wildcats available for Paradiso since the Wildcats were supposed to 'fix' the CJC Sectorial and its performance in ITS.
Personally, I'm of the opinion that it really is just the case that they did not bother to stop and check things during the CAD process. There were some claims by CB fans that it would have cost the company a 'significant amount of money' to stop and print test models, but they were pretty thoroughly debunked during the godknowshowmany arguments surrounding ScaleGate.
And I'll say that there are 'scale issues' here, and it is probably because CB wants to 'up' the size of things to a 'friendlier' painting and gaming scale, without going 'full heroic'.
Which is certainly something they have expressed, but it really doesn't take the edge off for people like myself who are now stuck with hundreds of dollars of models that have had their scale completely boned because of the fact that someone got the CAD bee in their bonnet.
Also worth noting that the idea of making things 'friendlier' for painting and gaming is why we keep getting models with ragefists or 'open' poses.

The thing is even before Icestorm the whole CB crew went into digital and that has increased the general quality of the range substantially: the new Kum Bikers, the Icestorm Box, the new Combined Army look, the new Morats...
The range is now better than 90% of the sci fi miniatures out there. The issue of the scale is now being corrected into a coherent digital canon of human figure.
Ok, Corregidor suffered from this change, Corregidor SP and Nomad SP have scale issues.
But..... the whole Infinity thing is now better than ever and getting the ugly old stuff resculpted into this new standard.
From your words I seem to understand that you would prefer INFINITY not to take this new "artistic path" and stick to the look & proportions of the Corregidor SP.
If that is the point, then, I'm not agree.
I cannot reject the Kum bikers, Morats, Icestorm models... this stuff is top notch.

Are you suggesting that all Intruders have the same diet and fitness regimens and are chosen for duty based on their ability to fit into a 'one size fits all' suit?
C'mon, a little variety in body shape is fine.
That's exactly how I feel. I have original, first edition miniatures which are perfectly fine alongside the current releases, it's only when you blow them up to screen-size with side on profile shots some can look a little out.. and even then, as said you just put that down to variations in the size of the human body.
Some of the miniatures CB are releasing these days are fething incredible. Honestly, I don't know who you would look at in the industry that is matching them for consistent quality. This feels to me like bitching about the Victoria's Secret model you are dating because she has a pimple on an ass cheek.

Except with digital modelling, they could've made the exact same models we have, in a scale that is consistent. That's one of the pluses of digital modelling, that you can easily keep the size consistent. We could've had a correctly scaled line and the same awesome aesthetic, they're not really mutually exclusive.

Yeah, except we know that's not what they were going for.
The Intruder isn't an egregious example, Wildcats are really the worst, being medium infantry that are dwarfed by light infantry now.

I'm mostly ok with the shift as long as it has it's own consistency. It's mostly upsetting because some of the most dramatic examples of the change are quite recent models that now look super tiny.
My two cents on this:
Corvus Belli is now releasing better models than ever and they are also more scale coherent than ever.
Back in the old days, 2005-2010 when different Infinity sculptors were making manually their figures there was a lack of consistency due to different styles and artistic visions working for the same range. In the same year you could have Yannick Hennebo releasing figures fro Yu Jing and Jose Roig making the PanO figures. It was back then when scale creepyness was happening.
Now we have a new wave of people pointing at scale issues in INFINITY, but this is happening when Corvus Belli is making all their their models digitally. Now all sculptors are delivering more coherent figures than ever.
I can understand that the differences between new modles and old models, specially in a range with 10 years in the market, it becomes more obvious to everyone who looks at the gallery that the newest models and old models have scale issues.
Those issues have been always there, the quality gap is more obvious now because CB is delivering better miniatures.
-only to have my entire "redesigned" line become waifs when compared to Juan the Alguacil from the Icestorm Nomad box, which was undergoing computer assisted design at the same time.
The whole selling point of CAD was supposed to be that it would make designing easier and to ensure that things remained in a consistent scale...yet, they could not deliver on that with an entire redesign on the Corregidor range.
Incorrect.
The Corregidor Starter Pack was traditionally sculpted by Pedro Fernandez.
The Icestorm New Nomads Starter Pack was digitally sculpted by Javier Urena.
If everything was sculpted digitally then the whole thing would be coherent. Corregidor is suffering from the digital step forward that CB has executed during 2014.
We should just agree that Keisotsu are tiny & need a proper resculpt

ImAGeek wrote: Yeah that probably is the reason. I mean some of the older models (and ones like the CJC) really are tiny. I haven't painted any of my Infinity yet because it's just so small and detailed haha. But I definitely see the point that, especially in the CJC case, they should have been in the same scale, because they completely overhauled the sectorial and then halfway through changed the scale, when they could have easily controlled it. The models are still gorgeous, but they are dwarfed by newer models.
The Hacker Alguacil in the CJC box is so fine. Like a little sparrow. The Icestorm Alguacils & the box set by comparison are beefy & come wearing substantial backpack dealies.
Bottom line needs to be. No more size creep. Period.
You can correct existing inconsistencies... Like the old Hsien have tiny bird-like proportions for HI.
But no bigger than the current standard for the love of god please.

I am so angry with Corvus Belli! They changed something... without getting my permission!
All my miniatures are worthless now because when I place them next to a ruler they look all wrong! As if they were representing humans who don't share the exact same stature. We all know that's how nature did it after all... Oh wait:

It isn't just a case of different builds/statures. It's a scale issue. But yeah let's just be condescending because it isn't a big deal to you personally.

Well, with genetics being quite fun fpr Noamds you could always explain small Wildcats as an experiment to improve droptroops.
Else, he is quite right, size-discussion is getting stale in the news-section and should be in its own thread. The newer units don´t have much size-problems. And with regard to the Intruder... even a modern HMG profits from a shooter with a heavier build.
Oh, it is an issue to me too. I just think that it's being blown out of proportion (hehe).
If we're talking about morats old and new I totally get it, but I still rather see some models from a decade ago become scalewise obsolete than CB not being able to change their artistic direction.
I know, between the CJC starter and the new nomad starter has been a relatively short time and as always there certainly have been bumps on the road, but I also own them both and while the difference is noticable, I find the extreme opinions are the typical unnecessary overreaction some people have on virtually every topic in here.
Even more so when it comes to the intruders. If those were people, noone would wonder about those differences. They aren't clones, right?

Agreed. The scale issue is always brought up by the same people in this thread and always derails it. We have a discussion subforum for a reason, which also makes the topic nice and easy to ignore for those that don't care.

I would like to take a moment and apologize to those who feel that I might just be bringing this up as an attempt at attention or a time to simply argue semantics or anything of that nature. This shift bothers me exceedingly but I shouldn't force that annoyance on to everyone else.

plastictrees wrote: Hopefully this is On Topic, but are we expecting every starter to be CADd at some point? So we will have new Ghulam's eventually?
I recall Carlos saying they're still very satisfied with the 3 plain Ghulams. However with new Naffs coming & a clear need for Hunzakut outside of the starter it wouldn't be a bad idea to redo it.
Perhaps they can pack in the older models like they did recently with QK?
Remember too they intend to revisit all the basic REM boxes for each faction. That's going to take some time.
Haqq could use a lot of attention. Stuff like Tuaregs, Bazouks & the standing Djanbazans are kind ugly now.
Then again they have some of the best older models in the range. Fiday, Sniper Djanbazan, older Ghulams, Asawira (not so much old as small proportioned by newer standards).
Is that a natural 21?

Interesting titbit on the Beasts of War weekender,
They're doing an Infinity weekend bootcamp thingy (where you pay to go and play with them), and they'll not only have Carlos over there for it too, but they'll have never to be released Infinity minis for the players too
Wonder what they'll be and whether any of them will hit ebay?
