I hope the necron book has some strong internal balancing coming up, because as it is you can run a barge lord for 335 points with:

Edge of eternity, solar thermasite, phase, weave, orb, phylactery, AND mss (overlord on a barge)

That's a 2+/3++ rerolling ones on failed saves. You can also get IWND, or eternal warrior.

That's 4 str 8 ap 1 attacks on the charge, with precision and armorbane as well as d6 str 6 hammer of wrath attacks. Oh and mind shackle scarabs just in case.

Now 335 points is a lot, but the space marine commander on bike with all the meelee goodies clocks in at 250, and this guy beats him 9/10 times math wise.

I hope they at least tone down mindshacke scarabs to a fear check or something instead, because if not you have the baddest meelee guy in the game in necrons, whom typically are supposed to be countered by meelee.

I would hope he beat the Chapter Master up for that price tag.

Sure, he's durable. But the first IK that comes along is going to slag his ride. And if he gets hit by ranged Str D he's taking an awful risk taking the hit himself. One failed save and you hope he stands back up.

He's pretty nasty as a solo dude, but remember to stay away from Knight Titans, the D makes EW and Invul saves sad. Just ask my trusty Draigo.

The problem is that in CC this guy takes a major hit in durability because, Wolf Lords exist with str10 attacks. Quite frankly I wish there was a way to make him fast, but not a vehicle.
And be careful for Remove from play.

Too much? Apparently it's not enough if you can actually beat a Marine HQ.

If you're paying enough that someone could get a Knight for near that price you're doing something wrong.

This thing will kill a knight easily. Unless they get a 6 on their D. If you get the charge, he only gets 3 attacks with 4+ to hit.

I tend to put too little points into my HQ if I am brutally honest.

Playing IF tactics I don't get any bonus on assault and tend to play with blobs of bolters in a gunline. With there being no heavy weapons choices for captain (we need a captain of the 9th company in the codex who can take heavy weapons and buff devs but thats another gripe!) I generally take a Chaplain with jump pack and melta bomb (110 pts) or a Captain with jump pack, artificer, relic blade and melta bomb (155 pts) and then put them in with 10 assault marines with a vet sgt and a flamer as an advanced unit. I would say 60% of games I lose my warlord and the VP, 40% of the time he survives long enough to at least make a dent in the opponent.

Generally I pick the chaplain just for zealot, the re-rolling misses in the first round with a WS of 4 can make a difference.

If it comes down to 110 and another tac squad or tank or 250 for something that will last, can tank damage but doesn't fit with my style at all I go for the cheap choice, although I will admit often not to a great success.

I don't think comparing a game not meant to be played with 40k is a very good judge frankly. Next you will say he isn't as powerful as say angron for 400 points, and is thus just fine, when things like primarchs are never meant to be on a 40k tabletop and if you play that way I feel bad for the 40k player on the other side.

Definitely don't take the Edge of Eternity. It's ten points more than a regular Warscythe for precision strikes and worse AP. You already get precision when doing your sweeps, and in combat you'll normally be challenging.

No he won't.

He may strip a couple Hull Points, but then the Knight just attacks the vehicle and puts him in the dirt. If the knight only hits once, its a 1/3 chance of not stripping all the HP. If 2 attacks hit he's down.

Also, the Knight hits him first. The Lord may not get a chance to swing.

true, 335 points is about what you'll pay for a "fully kitted out with a artifact weapon" deamon prince.
