Having everything i own painted.

I have accepeted however that this will never happen.

Even working towards it is something.

I've set clear goals in painting, sold off stuff I don't use or want and tried to focus on games I am realistically going to play going forward

I have made a little progress. Sold off my Malifaux stuff as it was just gathering dust, FoW stuff is next, then hopefully all my old 40K stuff. Its not much of a dent but its getting there,

As others have said before, painting my entire collection.

I'm actually tracking this in my blog and I'm doing pretty well so far. Just need to touch up a few of the older models so that they're all highlighter and based, which is my basic standard going forward.

I have a list of stuff I want to get done for 2015 too, should be good!

1) Finish my custom SM chapter (was going strong but haven't touched it properly n about 2 years).

2) Have it so my CSM force has representatives form all the legions.

3) Build a fantasy army (though looking at the rumors of what GW are going to do with the system this one may never come to fruition).

My gaming Holy Grail has been for many years a fully mechanized 40K Imperial Guard (I don't care what they're called now) Task Force, incorporating all brilliantly painted -

Command Company with Stormlord
3 LR Tank Companies
Baneblade Company
3 Mech Infantry Companies (fully mounted in Chimeras)
3 Artillery Companies
Heavy Artillery Company
Scout Company (lots of Salamanders)

I'm just a single Euro Lottery win away from hiring Golem for several years to accomplish this.

I'm interested in a few figures that ice never been able to find for a reasonable price. I could probably afford them but £25-80 a figure is rather a lot. I want an Ambull, the four Space Zoats, a Dominator and a Piscean Warrior, among a few other weird oddities.

I’d like to get some of the big FW things, like the Eldar SH tanks a/o a thunderhawk. But the price is just ridiculous for something that’s just going to warm the shelf. I can’t even justify the small stuff, due to book cost and shipping. What’s really going to test my resolve/sanity is when FW gets around to doing Ultramarines.

Where you located? I'll have that in Skaven by the middle of the year, end of at the latest, hopefully even fully painted(though probably not based). I'd love to put mine on the table, too.

I did that yesterday, with one of the mini's in the Gremlin Kin box for Malifaux. Horribly fiddly miniatures (3+ part heads on 28mm!), but the quality is immense. The way it's done there are no undercuts, but you do always feel like you're risking your sanity dealing with parts that small.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

To finish off some proper historical armies and run a demo of a massive battle of a massive battle from history - something like the destruction of the Roman legion by the Germanic tribes, the battle of Bosworth, Alexander the Great at Gaugamela or something similar. Have it all fully painted on themed terrain, played over a weekend.

And, one more time.. a full on game of Epic, half a dozen players on each side, 20-30,000pts or so, dozens of titans, entire tank legions and regiments. Done it once as a teenager, remains the high point of my wargaming experiences.

I've tried a couple of times, last time with 6th edition, lulled in by the background and the lovely minis. On both occasions I've found it an experience similar to picking up a video game that you had owned before but then sold, or getting back together with a girlfriend you split up with; despite the good memories and imagination of something good, once you have that thing again you realise straight away "ah, this is why I didn't like it"

Think idea of this thread was for 'most amazing hobby based thing you can ever imagine doing', rather than 'basic plans for 2015'..

Unless that is the most amazing thing you can ever imagine doing in wargaming?

Find a lot of old metal Cadian and Squat models that somebody had stashed away in an attic or something. That'd be the coolest find for me.

That and finish painting all my armies.

Ok here are mine:

Finish my 2nd Company of Ultramarines - am over half way there, have 65 marines painted plus support but that has taken 6 years so far.....

Finish my Macragge PDF - almost there, about 80%

Get one of my armies in White Dwarf magazine - have been on GW website but really would like to get in WD.

Stop buying stuff and just paint up what I have, which right now is probably about ten years worth - this one probably is about as likely as finding the real Holy Grail - haven't managed it in 30 years so far.....

Well it was the Skullz Adeptus Mechanicus unit... and I got that.

Then it was getting a full Deathwatch army... and I did that too.

Then it was getting to write 40K stuff professionally... and I did that too.

Good point (though my post earlier still stands )

In that case - For Our Most Benevolent Gee Dubs to re-release Epic (apart from a Thunderhawk, I missed out on that system) and for my wife to say "I'll pay all the bills, you just go mad with all that stuff"

Having read this...

Mastering basic painting is still it. I love painting, but danged if I don't make a complete mess of it 90% of the time.

For something really amazing though... I want to own the lego black knights castle from the like the early 90's. It was huge and amazing and little kid me wanted it sooo much. But there was never any chance that I would have actually been able to have it. Too expensive by far. But now? That's the dream.

Best one yet, in that for every wargamer and miniature painter it is a shimmering mirage on the horizon, tentatively within reach at times but then fades when you finally get to it..

And certainly less likely than..
