They stepped up the drama, politics and world building.
There's another season of Gate? That was quick.
Has the UN gotten involved yet? You'd think they would be all over a portal into another world, due to pressure from its members.
I was pretty surprised too.
They are up to episode 6.
And no UN yet from what I could see. But hey more animal people and dark elves! That is just as good as the UN right?
Sir Isaac Newton may be the deadliest son-of-a-bitch in space, but John von Neumann is the logistics officer that eats your problems and turns them into kit.
Gate is practically a lengthy recruitment video for the Restoration Party, but it has its moments.
Outbreak Company is in a similar genre, but less serious, though still well done, imo.
Konosuba's probably my favorite this season, probably because I have a thing for comedies that refuse to take themselves seriously. It's the only show this season (not counting Snow White) that I'd be willing to buy if it gets a disc release.

Big Mek Sparkz and his Band of Sparky Ting Huntas: 4,000 points
Our Lady of the Generous Heart: 2,000 points
Thousand Sons: One unbuilt Daemon Prince
The second season appears to be better, at least. I'm enjoying it more than its predecessor. The dragon killing was pretty overkill, but considering how they were expecting a bigger target, I guess that's understandable.

So...finished watching guilty crown. Its fine I guess. Enjoyable, anyway. Cool music. Characters were passable. Very pretty. Plot is...odd. Like, the virus is clearly a big evil magical macguffin that somehow gives people the ability to materialize their thoughts into weapons, but it only happens to people 17 and under. Something that has something to do with Mana. Idk, gak is weird. Also, lol at UN being super evil. Ending is pretty sad though.

Listen to the full version sometime. It's a beautiful song.
Oh yeah, Guilty Crown has its problems. The virus and setting doesn't really make sense. They...added too much, you know? Like, they had a concept, then they added more concepts, and they forgot to refine them. The show is enjoyable, but if you try to think about the virus you may BSOD. Its like they tried making a ham sandwich, but they made it too big and choked on it.
To be fair, Code Geass sort of does the same thing near the end with that collective consciousness thing, in that it sort of not made sense, but at least it was coherent.
I prefer Euterpe. What a nice melody.

but my god.........was it a ripoff of Code Geass
Both shows were written (predominantly) by the same guy so I think that was to be expected
Isn't there a third show by the same guy that follows the same basic story as well? I'd swear it was a trifecta from him. But yeah, I thought GC was a weaker version of CG.

Guy meets mysterious girl. Girl gives him power Uses power to overthrow oppressive regime.
If you watched more than the first few episodes you'd find those are the only real similarities. You might as well say Star Wars is a rip off of Lord of the Rings.
Boy meets old magic man Old Magic Man gives him a special doodad Boy beats ancient evil ruler

Yep, except in anime it seems they replace the old wise man with attractive mysterious girl.
Its all the same thing, really. No need to start throwing around rip off.

Hey, I'm looking for a good mech anime with mechs more or less along the lines of Battletech. That is, less flying super laser gundam light show. More slower moving heavy duty weaponry and firefights.

Caught up on the last six episodes of RWBY yesterday and... wow. I mean, they made a disclaimer that was essentially "this gak's about to get dark, don't watch it with your kids", but...
Spoiler:
That's two of my favourite characters (Penny and Pyrrha) dead and everything gone to hell. Well played, RoosterTeeth. Well played.
For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

Well, Penny is a robot, so she could still come back. Also I'm waiting for Yang's inevitable bad arse robot arm.

True, and I suppose Pyrrha could still be alive. The way she dissolved looked very much like what happens to Grimm when they die, but that's not how humans usually die. Knowing my luck though, she was probably dissolved into atoms or something.
EDIT: Now that I think about it, Salem and Ozpin seem to have some sort of grudge. Salem looks as though she's very much connected to the Grimm, and we know Ozpin is missing. Suppose Ozpin saved Pyrrha?
I'm still in denial.

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.
Pyrrahs voice actor pretty much confirmed she's gone gone.
I am the Hammer. I am the right hand of my Emperor. I am the tip of His spear, I am the gauntlet about His fist. I am the woes of daemonkind. I am the Hammer.
Pyrrah was supposed to be the fall maiden. Cinder took destiny into her own hands, though. There's a lot of forshadowing there, especially since Pyrrah is such a reference to Achilles. And, yeah, the voice actor said that was Montys intent from the beginning.
If I really want to make you feel bad, Jaune is based on Joan of Arc, and has references to Julius Ceasar in as well. And what happened to those two...
I am the Hammer. I am the right hand of my Emperor. I am the tip of His spear, I am the gauntlet about His fist. I am the woes of daemonkind. I am the Hammer.
Jaune's already gotten past the Cardinal of Winchester though. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for anything remotely like Jörmungandr coming close to Nora though.
Didn't Pyrrha talk about people becoming paragons in death or something like that earlier? If nothing else, her death will have interesting effects on Jaune, my remaining favourite character. If they go Caesar on him I might accidentally become angry enough to accidentally summon Shlrrrg, God of Nasty Things.
For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.
Was anyone else not surprised that they introduced a human looking Grimm queen? I was expecting a move like that.
That speech at the end was freaking brilliant. It was ominous, and I love it.
Also, holy gak, they killed Pyrrah.
Holy gak, they maimed Yang
Holy gak, Auspin is MIA
gak is dire, bro.
