Kabaneri is fun to watch if you don't try to think about how their society has been able to last this long with stuff like that Smoke around and their virtual inability to fight back before now.

Apparently the smoke is very rare, so its not that far fetched.

Planning on starting it. Looks awesome and steampunky. I've been wanting more steampunk anime since I first saw Steamboy.



On a completely unrelated tangent, I had a bizarre dream last night about an anime- I don't think it exists, but I figured I might ask if bits sound familiar to anyone-


So an 'ordinary school girl' (albeit rather macabre and antisocial) one day notices a monster attacking the school that nobody else reacts to- so she summons an oni to fight it (of course). However, that was the monster's plan all along, and she gets sucked into the monster's home world.

This is where it gets weird, and I think the 'dream' aspect of things is messing with stuff- the girl is now in the form of the Oni she summoned, only gigantic, and has to fight the Monster herself, which is also now gigantic. She's all ruthless and unphased, which throws the monster off, and she wins handily (and brutally)- but it turns out these fights are regulated in this world. Law enforcement comes in, blah blah blah, girl (still in Oni form) gets bailed out by a strange anthro-wolf character who claims to be her sister (though she doesn't have a sister in her normal world)... And then to top it all off, when she turns back from the Oni form, she's a guy.



Yeah, strange, strange dream mash-up anime. Anyone have any idea where the components may be? I'm thinking a little Yu-Gi-Oh, some Ouran School Host Club, maybe a little Dokuro-chan, and possibly some Supernormal Step (which is a webcomic, not an anime, but still).

Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is one of the coolest Animes I've seen in years. The production values are incredible, and the art manages to look a lot like Miyazaki without feeling like a rip off. Definitely my favorite show this year.

I've been watching it, it's really good. It's like the creator of the show saw Attack on Titan and said "I can do better" and so far I'm enjoying it more than I did AoT. Not saying it is or is not better, but it's pretty solid.

The thing I like about it is what the probable ending for Mumei and Ikoma is, given aing enough period of time. I'm also digging the world building that's going on, like how we're getting just enough snippets about the world to keep me hooked wanting more.

Well it is directed by the guy who did AoT and written by the writer of Code Geass and Guilty Crown.

Now that Funimation grabbed Lucky Star (yay!) I wonder if the fallout from the Bandai Bankruptcy is finally over. Probably not.

In other news, Flying Witch continues to be this season's Relax-o-Vision for me.

Been watching Kabaneri...my reaction mirrors that of others here, its pretty great so far and has some of the best animation ive ever seen.

I think im gonna take the opportunity to rewatch Evangelion here soon, its been probably 13 years since I watched through the whole thing.

Im close to crying now. The anime club is done and im never gonna see those friends again. They made school bearable. up to the end of our dinner no one wanted to leave because we will never see eatchother again. And its a changing of the guard to. Barely anyone is staying and a few of the old members are satying to raise a new generation of young weaboos.

Erased ending was awful, went from a pretty solid series to huge upset. Not just the weird out of nowhere relationship, but pretty much everything about it was disappointing.
Trains and zombies is ok, great for zombie media. Most things having to do with zombies is predictable and unoriginal, but this seems like an original setting and story. So far I don't think there are any complaints I have about it. It doesn't matter if the science of their tech doesn't make sense, it's a fantasy setting.Trying to pick that apart it stupid.

What out of nowhere relationship? The one with the girl he saved?

Just finished watching Ajin on Netflix. Interesting premise, but the more I learned about the characters, the more I wished they would all die in a fire.

The sidekick girl and the new kid were the only ones I vaguely cared about by then end of the first season they have. And that’s probably only because we don’t know a huge deal about them. The girl especially.

Would not recommend it, and if they do release a second season will probably pass. Unless I’m really bored. I’ve burned through most of the stuff on Netflix the looks worth watching.

The comic for Ajin is pretty good. Did they go into how she discovered she's a demi-human?

Nope. She just hangs out at the elbow of The Suit, looks cute, and doesn’t have any details offered up about the hows/whys of her position.

Oh man! I guess they're saving that season 2, or if you have a Crunchyroll premium account, you can read pretty it. 90% of what you read will be in the anime though.

So I just started watching Aldnoah.Zero. It's pretty good

To be fair, it was 15 years between when he went into the coma and when he woke up. Think about the last 15 years of your life, a lot changes. The relationship with one of the friends made more sense than it would have with Satoru.

In the mecha department, Gundam Thunderbolt is pretty sweet and gridy. I think the manga is mostly better though, translations of it are out there.
Gundam the Origin: Also impressive, seeing both sides to Char is really weird and interesting. His ascension to madness is a bit shallow, but still interesting.
Gundam Unicorn: So far it doesn't look like they added anything from the OVA, but it's been a long time since I've seen it. Still awesome, although I prefer the dub. The English voice actor for the main character makes him seem less whiny to me.
Finally, there's a series airing with samurai robots or something like that? I'm thinking of giving it a watch, dono if it's any good though

What's the samurai robot show?

Also for the Unicorn re-edit the only difference I heard is that they added more lines to Banagher's hands.

Currently borrowing Macross Plus, Macross: Do You Remember Love, and G Gundam from Dakka user Cyporiean.

Kuromukuro/Black Relic might be the Samurai Robots one. Has a samurai from some 400 years ago who wakes up from stasis when aliens piloting giant mechs land on earth and who is able to pilot a mech of his own with the help of conveniently nearby schoolgirl. It manages to be not Too incredibly cliche and has several entertaining characters. The scene where he first wakes up is pretty good too from a "filming" perspective.

While I'm at it, Kiznaiver. It's entertaining, though being from Trigger I want to compare it to KLK and Gurren, and it's not nearly as good as those two. Do love the opening music though.

Terraformers is better this season than ones past. For the most part the narrator has shut up so you don't have that constant "made from this powerful creature, he is unstoppable. But wait, this guys made from this other more powerful creature and is more unstoppable. But wait, this guy is made from this other more more powerful creature and is more more unstoppable!" There is also less giving us backstory on that new character they just killed to try and make us care about them after the fact. Both element still exist, but they're toned way down and they are some good moments of random humor spread around to lighten the mood as well. Also interesting the way this season's opener, Revenge, seems to portray (to me) to frame the humans as the bad guys.

Re: Zero has been really good too. One of my two favorites. Shut in neet transported to fantasy world. Cliche but they know it and play on it. Great of good action and horror and fun with some great characters. The main gimmick of the show makes the overall plot advance slow, but I like how they play with the gimmick. If you've not seen/read about it I strongly recommend watching the first episode without reading more and spoiling what said gimmick is.

Other favorite show of the season is Boku No Hero Academia/My Hero Academia. A world where it's not uncommon for people to be born with super powers similar to Xmen, and become heroes/villains. As the name suggests, it's following kids in the super hero school. I Really wanna see the next episode after the way the last one ended. Gonna get Really good I think.

Kiznaiver feels...aimless for me. It doesn't have much going on, tbh. The plot doesn't feel as concrete as KLK's.

Wasn't Gurren made by Gainax?

Re Zero is probably the best of the season.

Gurren Lagann was made by Gainax, but directed by the guy who would co-found Trigger.

As for anime of theseason, I'll fight you, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is amazing.

Yeah, his motivations and actions are too harsh imho.
