Been Around the Block
|
Kabuki Models' Dwarf Beer Maiden is finished! Currently the 3D-printery is taking care of the phisical master!
25mm to the top of the head, she's Kabuki's first dwarf model and be sure it will also be the founder of a new and long range.
This mini will be first available during the Adepticon Con from March 19th 'till 22th...but don't worry! You don't need to necessarily go there to buy the model, it will be indeed available also on www.kabukimodels.com , but only during the Con's time!

Not to sound too critical, but I think she needs about 25-50% less boob and about 300% less hips. And I know dwarves enjoy their beer and get roudy, but why does she need armour plates?

The hips can be explained by those structures crazy old dresses had, but, yeah... a bit ridiculously designed...

Definitely needs toning down in both the bust and the hips.
Also - pauldrons and tassets do you no good when your chest is one big (too big) target.
Nice idea, needs some fine tuning.

I see them not so much as combat armour, but as protection from the pinches of seated dwarves as she walks past, a sensible precaution to take in those dark smoky taverns were nobody can see the hands under the tables
Hands wandering further up her body are more obvious allowing her to respond with in a casual tankard to the face without the innkeeper shouting at her, so are not such a worry

This is your opinion, let's not pretend like there is only one way to do boobs.
Saying this is ridiculous is like saying larger woman are ridiculous. They're not. Neither is this. Neither have control of their bodies in those regards, so try and be respectful.
She is wearing a respectable amount of clothing, and is not in some questionable pose. So her boobs are big, so what? Don't know if you realized this, but big boobs do exist. Surprise.

I'm thinking a significant amount of the apparently hip is part of the dress, not the dwarf.

Look where her leg is going. You can easily extrapolate where her real hip is from that, and it isn't actually much thicker than her waist. In fact, she'd probably need bigger hips if it weren't for the dress to keep her from looking more chunky than buxom. The dress flails out quite a bit due to the armor since her hip/crotch/bottom is just below the belt a bit.

This I realise. However the dress is still way too wide at the hips and just makes the figure look off.
Neronoxx - the figure is half dressed at best, and whilst large breasted ladies do indeed exist, few do so to the extent of this dwarf. I am in no way against large breasted figures (real or in mini form) - but this particular model just has a vibe of "hmmm... I have the option of adding boobs... hey! Lets go with the " lol bewbs" setting".

Half dressed at best?
When was the last time you wore clothes?
And i don't get that 'Tacked-on boobs' vibe here, this looks believable. You know where I get that vibe?
Raging heroes. I feel that is exactly what they did.
I feel that dwarves should be both short, wide and kinda 'full' in appearance. I'm not saying they HAVE to be this way; just to all the people saying the model is bad/too busty/ not correct, remember those are your opinions.

Ah, yes, another Kabuki mini that's a bit, shall we say, over stimulating. Hopefully the artist paid to paint the master gets better reimbursement this time... Oh, or are we not allowed to say unpleasant things here, too?

I take it you have actually looked at the render in the first post? She is wearing suspenders and shoulder pads over a bare top...

Each to their own, personally I think they are huge for the point of being huge and add little to the model.

I would agree that dwarves should be full figured - I have plenty of Reaper dwarves that I love and Scibor have an excellent set of female dwarf miners. I just don't like this model as presented. A few minor changes would make it great.

Hey guys argue elsewhere, it's incredibly distracting and impolite to the OP.
Opinions will very, just say yours politely and don't try to change other posters minds.
If you want to debate about body shapes and sizes on niche fantasy dolls take it to general.

Look closer. See the sleeves? See the fabric wrinkles on her back? She is wearing a top that is very low cut, but it is a top. The suspenders are just the lining on the, uh, neckline. My wife has tops or dresses like that. They aren't that rare. Automatically Appended Next Post: Actually, it looks like she mightbe peeking out of the to and covered by suspenders after all. It is ambiguous in the upper torso. Guess we will have to see it painted.

I can understand why people are so upset - after all, Kabuki Models are known for making incredibly reserved and subtle female models...
Ohhhh... that's good sarcasm.
I like her quite a bit - not often see a smiling dwarf. Reminds me of the PP convention models. Personally I get more of a sense of fun and levity as opposed to lewdness.
I think I would get one except the shape of the hips/dress is throwing me off. I understand the arguments for the structured dress - but it still looks off somehow. Something about the combination of the exposed leg and very flat backside (or seemingly flat backside) throw off the idea of the constructed dress form.

Criticism has equal merits in discussion as praise. Trying to stifle criticism creates a vacuum; being able to deal with and address it marks a good business. You know, much like another known brand...
Kabuki has a dubious track record and, I for one, am not so quite ready to let folks forget. More so with how they've handled model criticism in the past, let alone their treatment of commissioned artists.

Bull pucky.
I want a figure that I would want to buy.
I am guessing that Kabuki wants to make a model that people want to buy.
There are general comments that there are folks that think this figure has problems - which will make those folks not buy it.
There is a difference between 'sculptor shaming' and giving critique that could make the figure look better, in my opinion and the opinions of at least some others. (My girlfriend included - she plays dwarfs and halflings a lot.)
Big boobs do exist - but these do not look natural - big boobs droop.
And I hate to tell you this - but showing leg like that is a questionable pose. (Though not something that I commented on or complained about. I do not have a problem with a dwarf in a sexy pose.)
I like the idea of a sexy dwarf serving wench - I want to like this figure - but this miniature as currently designed does not fill that desire.
So I am offering criticism while there is still time for that criticism to have an effect.
Capiche?

I'm not saying there aren't any, but isn't it very OT to bring them in to this thread?

I actually don't think the bust is that over the top for a dwarf, seeing as they are stout and heavyset, in general. I think the hips are what really throws it off.
