Subject: Re:[KS] Toughest Girls in the Galaxy 2: Darkness and Light (KS Complete - And now for the waiting!)
I played around with the pledge calculator yesterday, before these choppy shoe-less chicks landed, and basically discovered that I'm screwed and should just up my pledge level and get it over with
I really don't like the helmets on the not-terminators. Too bad, because that was the only model I was interested in :(.

I broke down and got the full $175 pledge on the theory that I could probably sell many of the freebees and some of the optional stuff and cover most or maybe even all of my basic cost while keeping a couple of squads and characters. Much as I like smexy 28mm stuff, I just don't need that much of it. So now I have to figure out which units will sell best on ebay. Any guesses as to what the most popular aftermarket ones will be?

It looks to me like someone sculpted decent armour, and then someone else just added bewbs on top of it. (The not-terminators) If someone had really spent time designing such baroque suits of armour, I somehow think they'd have had to heart to make them look... better. More integrated, less tacked-on.
And agreed, the helmets are too reminescent of Dreamforge Valkir to really look sci-fi or plain original.

The Pledge Manager is not yet opened, but we are still tracking to open within the next 4 days or so! We will first collect your Shipping Fee, and then pass you along to the Pledge Manager. More details in upcoming Updates.
Many more images again for this Update: •41 images for the Mounted Knights (Sisters - F) •32 images for the Harpies (Dark Elves - F) •23 images for the Skinners (Lust Elves - SF)
Check them all out, and do keep on letting us know which one is your favourite!
Mounted Knights (Sisters - F)
Harpies (Dark Elves - F)
You will notice that the Harpies seem to be floating in the air... It's not because they've got some kind of anti-grav device, but rather, because we forgot to include the rock bases at their feet. So here's a sample of what they will look like. We'll get the rest of them so equipped as we prepare the sculpts for print.
Spoiler:
Skinners (Lust Elves - SF)
I really like the battle bard, and hope I can get her by herself,
and I'm not too sure what to do about the skinners, I prefer their heads, but the bodies of the fantasy versions
and the harpies are clearly involved in an interpretive dance battle, I like them, but I'm not sure I've got use for them bar one or two just to paint

Yea, I like the mounted knights a lot, but that lute player reminds me a little too much of a certain movie character... Which wouldn't be bad if I were not trying to imagine them as a serious unit
Also, why must all the horses buck? This is pretty much a repeat of the troops problem, with every horse bucking or whatever it's called in English, it makes the unit look very.. busy. What's wrong with normal, running horses? Or are they too boring to even contemplate?

The cavalry models look to me like they are a close rendition of the concept art. Is this this another case of no matter what RH does someone is not happy? I happen to like the heels and the cavalry models. I don't have any interest in the SOB stuff, I backed for the DE knock offs, but everything I've seen for both sci fi and fantasy is just as good or better then I expected from RH. Are the people that are dissatisfied with the way the models are turning out new to RH and how their stuff looks?
I think the bulk of the dissatisfaction, slk, stems from the cases where the renders have major changes from the concept art.
With the exception of the nuns, who I would have gotten if not for the change from sensible boots to ludicrous heels, the models I've expressed dislike for have been ones I never intended to get with my pledge anyway.
The problem with every horse bucking, with zero running or doing any other things, is that it kind of makes all of them too busy. If you have a unit two ranks deep say, the front row rearing up while the rider hacks down looks cool, but if the rear row is doing it too it looks a little odd. Plus it tends to make the unit look disordered and ill disciplined with them all bucking and rearing like that.
Again, cool for heroes and a few here and there, but too much otherwise. To make them good models for mass combat games (KoW, not Age of Sigmar) they need some less active, over the top models to go with them. I would really have preferred it if the troop box had more, well not sedate, but less crazy active models, while the command box had the really active crazy models. Then you could balance it out some.
Two of the horses are running... and two are not bucking but mid Jumping. Only two are actually bucking. Please keep.the facts straight.
I can't believe I'm forced to defend RH......

RH does seem to have one speed: Action!
The not Terminators, for example, given their similarity with the Dreamforge Valkir kits, I could see using them as heroes/sergeants. But they are just so... much with the style. I know I keep beating the same horse, but those terminators would be fantastic if they had like 1 or 2 fewer features. It really does seem like there is no one willing to put the brakes on at any time in the RH artistic development office.

Avatar of Shaah (Lust Elves - SF)
During the campaign, we created a line-up to show you the size of each big miniatures compared to a human-sized one. When we looked at this chart again a few days ago to determine the size of the Avatar of Shaah, we thought that she absolutely deserved to be larger. So, in addition to the many Free upgrades and Bonus Unlocks we've made during this Kickstarter project, here's another gift for you: you are now getting a massive-sized Avatar of Shaah with no price increase.
Spoiler:
This is really a big gift indeed, because the final retail price will be much higher than originally priced. So if you're looking for an amazing model AND a great deal, this is it: Kickstarter price is and remains $65. Retail price was planned at $95, but will now be closer to $130-$150!!!
→ Yscarloth, The Harvester of Flesh (Lust Elves – SF)
Spoiler:

Automatically Appended Next Post: The avatar looks really nice, either as a big thing for gaming which fits with the rest of their indian inspired dancing elves, or as a larger scale painting challenge
the hunters look really good for space elves players
and the heroines are not bad either

At least at the original size it had a reasonable chance to fit in with the other stuff on the table.
Now it's just MASSIVE. Going to have to figure out what to use her for. Certainly looks cool. I almost wish there was a human sized equivalent so she could power up into her giant form when evil giant kaiju invade.
Worried about those giant arm blades with the thin upper arms. Hopefully it can hold itself together, but I know I'll be pinning it.
Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!
