The render of Yscarloth is way more interesting to me than the sketch was. Previously I paid her no mind, now my interest is piqued ...
... but unfortunately for her seeing the extra huge Avatar means the biggest chick is definitely a go

If I'm being charitable, I'd guess she got bigger to increase stability and fine detail fidelity.
If I'm being suspicious, I'd guess it's because they want to justify the price increase and goad people into upping their pledges.

How big is a bloodthirster? Is she too big to be one of those?

I do like the fact that the poses are super extreme for units like these.
The problem (such as it is) would be that there are few to no "neutral" poses, so they're not great for making units. For me, it means that I'll buy single sets because they're cool models rather than multiples, because they won't work very well repeated within larger full units.
So if I buy fewer sets than I would have, is that a problem for me in the end, or for RH?

Kinda hard to say. not everyone feels that way. So by appeasing your need for a static unit you might lose people who want something more dynamic like me. Then...is that then my problem..or RH?
Taste is subjective...and you can't make everyone happy...as previously noted time and time again here.
Take the whole prodoss example. I didn't buy any of the new miniatures because they went the new pg13 route and those type of minis are something I have loads of. They lost that sale cause I don't like the new direction...But there are those who bought them because of the new direction. So that is and is not their problem.

That seems to be a slight misinterpretation of what Az is saying: it's not a matter of aesthetic dislike, but that they are no longer suitable for a particular purpose.
Imagine that price was no object: would you use GW character models (say, a jump chaplain) to make entire units? Perhaps you might, if you found it amusing. But it would be objectively true that such a unit would suffer from repetition, from an (let's call it) overwhelming amount of detail.
As a commercial matter it's worth pointing out that there are ideas that seem fine in principle that simply don't translate to practice. The amount of detail that people can take in, or perhaps better, want to take in, is one of them. As Brook mentioned, this 'detail overload' is something that one can't really appreciate until you have the models on the table in front of you. There is a burgeoning field of ' decluttering', and this is related to that.

Fair point...
But what about the chaos marines from the DV box set. They all "suffer" from an abundance of detail bits and bobs and this complaint was never raised about them. Mostly it was "wow those are so cool I wish all chaos minis looked like these badasses"
Or the new Eldar harlequins that are bursting with actiony goodness
Admittedly I maybe the wrong person to argue this. I recently completed a set of marines that are festooned with gear.bags and weapons. I like my marines (and other minis) to be ...well equipped and gung ho.
It just seems like like alot of people here are looking for any reason to dislike these. Like the one guy who said all the horses are bucking.when its only 2.
However...aesthetics and taste are wildly subjective. If other people say they are too busy ..then I will believe that that is what they believe and their opinion is as justified as mine. I for one like them quite a bit.

It's not about the amount of details or bling, it's about the posing. Imagine all your models were doing the same backflip that looks great on one model. It'd probably look really silly if your entire army did that.
Oh - and detail BITS are entirely optional, your choice to glue them on or not. Not so much with monopose, you'd have to cut up the model and use greenstuff etc.

I believe they said that the cost to pledgers was unchanged (so a larger model at the same cost). The cost to people who wait to buy retail, however...

That's what they also did during the previous campaign, though back then it was a lot of unknown unknowns involved, though if you're a veteran of the first campaign and have had some of their mini's before you should have a good idea of what you're pledging for and what you'll get.

Of course. But still.. like many people here, it's not that I won't be buying, just that I'll be buying 1x of the various units rather than many-x. I'm down for a very respectable chunk of cash here. so it's not like I dislike their models or aesthetic. It's that I'd like the troopers to be less extravagant so I could make units of them rather then buy 1 set of them (and the heroes) both to be champion-types for other units. For me, it's not about details and gear, but repetition of figures in poses that will look ...odd on the table. It would be less of an issue with "variant" style figures, such as what GW used to put out when they had a large metal range, of, say, Harlequins. And again, less of an issue to an extent with crazy poses in small 40k units as opposed to larger "fantasy battle" type units.
Hopefully that helps to clarify at least my own perspective for you. Automatically Appended Next Post: Jehan-reznor wrote:I like what they are doing, loving the heels, the poses, the tiny waists, hit me with your vitriol!

Yup, some of the models like sgt's capt's doing cool stuff in 'heroic' poses is cool. A whole army doing back flips and standing on one foot while pointing is just asinine.
Some of the models have me going hummm....but as one off pieces or as diorama fodder. I think a whole army of lust elves or the not-sisters knock offs would look good ascetic wise (minus the heel's on the non-sisters) but not with the poses RH has chosen.

Perspective gained and point well made. I tend to treat each miniature as it s own unique model so I do tend to have slightly different take on them all. I also don't do fantasy war gaming....so I've never dealt with blocks of troops.
Does these minis work better for the new AOS then?

I imagine so because skirmish, though it would depend on how large a unit people play with (I haven't played AoS at this point). You probably wouldn't want more than 2 of each crazay pose, though - similar to 40k.

Will do (although it may be a couple of hours RH time, so maybe Friday?) Automatically Appended Next Post: Update #53 – Latest News + Freebies Packed + New Renders Coming The Pledge Manager has not yet opened, but we're almost there... As usual, last minute bugs and creative challenges have cropped up, but we're clearing them out one by one. While I am still sorting the remaining details, the sculpting team is hard at work finishing everything that's left, so that the Pledge Manager can feature all the sculpts before it closes. The foundry has been sending us huge boxes full of TGG2 miniatures. And the packing crew has already begun packing the Freebies boxes for you, so that we can begin shipping them as soon as you'll have completed your Pledge Manager! Here's a picture of some of the Freebies boxes awaiting shipment. We are running out of space and had to temporarily stock them in the kitchen/meeting room. (Forgive the low light, I just took the picture now and it's past midnight.) Also, good news: we will have a new Update later tomorrow, featuring the following sculpts: •The Long Swords – Troops and Command Group (Dark Elves – Fantasy) •Sol-Sarya, Priestess of the Sun of Thorns (Sisters – Fantasy) •Sol-Sarya, Priestess of the Sun of Thorns (Sisters – SF) •Templar Ela Seraqui, Demon Slayer (Sisters – Fantasy) •Templar Ela Seraqui, Demon Slayer (Sisters – SF) •The Executrix Troops – Troops and Command Group (Void Elves – SF) Right after that, we are planning to finish •The Centaurs – Troops and Command Group (Lust Elves Fantasy) •The Centaurs – Troops and Command Group (Lust Elves SF) •The Centaur Heroine (Lust Elves – Fantasy) •The Centaur Heroine (Lust Elves – SF) •Ascended Sister Erzebel, Great Seraphim (Sisters – F/ SF) •Varaseesh, The Venomous (Lust Elves – Fantasy) •Varaseesh, The Venomous (Lust Elves – SF) They are moving swiftly, and we'll do all that we can to share them with you by the end of the week, if we can. After that, the last 2 miniatures to finish will be •The Altar of the Succubi (Dark Elves – Fantasy) •War Pulpit (Sisters – SF) We've already began work on them, and things are moving well right now. And so we are almost there! Thanks for your patience, support and understanding guys!!! Digital painting by Claudia Zuminich

Been waiting this entire campaign just to see a render of the Varaseesh model they have. It's half the reason I bought into this aside from the awesome Archpapess.
Miniatures games tend to be severely lacking in Medusa-looking models in general.
Still disappointed that the Icariates have no option to come with angel wings and instead have aCathedral's Flying Buttress on their butts.

Update #54 – Draahk Chariot with Horses + Long Swords + Executrix + More Heroines
FYI: The Pledge Manager is not yet opened, but it won't be long now. Pledge Manager details will be shared in an upcoming Update.
In this Update, we've got loads of images again.
Make sure your e-mail message is not cut off before you see them all.
By the way, nobody at the office like the name Ela Seraqui, so we decided to change it, and our Templar Demon Slayer is now called Mona de Costemore.
We'll start this model, which I forgot to mention yesterday:
•Draahk Chariot with Horses (Dark Elves – Fantasy)
followed by
•The Long Swords – Troops and Command Group (Dark Elves – Fantasy)
•Sol-Sarya, Priestess of the Sun of Thorns (Sisters – SF)
•Templar Mona de Costemore (formerly Templar Ela Seraqui), Demon Slayer (Sisters – SF)
•Sol-Sarya, Priestess of the Sun of Thorns (Sisters – Fantasy)
•Templar Mona de Costemore (formerly Templar Ela Seraqui), Demon Slayer (Sisters – Fantasy)
