What if George Lucas got a hold of Warhammer 40k? What do you think he would change to make it better fit his vision?

For one thing, we'll see the Warhammer 40k land at Disney Land where your 6 year old child can now dress up as a Space Marine and do the gagnam style dance with Horus!

The Ultramarine captain would have a lovable deamon sidekick that offers the slapstick humor that the kids seem to like.

I think the very first thing he'd do is take all credit for the creation and background of Warhammer 40k, up to and including everything that he actually had nothing to do with.

After that: He'd make androids a playable army with those freaky little hooded creatures as allies, make the Imperium of Man into the evil empire, the forces of chaos into misunderstood but valiant rebel factions and finally ally them with the Tau who would turn out to be the happy and playful backwoods tribal faction that everyone looks to for comedy antics, snippy one liners and warm happy feelings.

ALL HAIL THE ORKISSIAH, TRINARY SPEAKING GOD OF ORK TECHNOLOGY. (Unlike wimpy old Binary, Orks have commands for Yes, No AND "Maybe")

Runnin up on ya.

Sadly, he could only improve upon the puerile drivel that GW spews in the form of fluff and story arcs.

Six mistakes mankind keeps making century after century: Believing that personal gain is made by crushing others; Worrying about things that cannot be changed or corrected; Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it; Refusing to set aside trivial preferences; Neglecting development and refinement of the mind; Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do

Up until recently would have argued against that. Now....

Business practices would improve... everything else would not (fluff, model design, etc...)

(BTW I got nothin' to back that up so... yeah.)

You say Fiery Crash! I say Dynamic Entry!

*Increases Game Point Limit by 100*: Tau get two Crisis Suits and a Firewarrior. Imperial Guard get two infantry companies, artillery support, and APCs.

The Rebels would blow up the Imperial Palace on Holy Terra using an unshielded exhaust vent. Wait...

And the Angels of Darkness descended on pinions of fire and light... the great and terrible dark angels.
He was not the golden lord. The Emperor will carry us to the stars, but never beyond them. My dreams will be lies, if a golden lord does not rise.

I look to the stars now, with the old scrolls burning runes across my memory. And I see my own hands as I write these words. Erebus and Kor Phaeron speak the truth.

My hands. They, too, are golden.

Would you also read the one where an IG platoon hold back a CSM invasion with the help of furry abhumans and cunningly placed wooden traps?

I'm just kidding though, I like Star Wars but more because KOTOR I & II and less because of the movies.

We'd have Lego 40k, Angry Birds 40k, a Gravity Falls special where they deal with Chaos, a CGI cartoon about plucky Gue'vesa fighters rebelling against the Imperium and a butt-ton of encyclopedias.

Thought for the day: Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
30k Ultramarines: 2000 pts
Bolt Action Germans: ~1200 pts
AOS Stormcast: Just starting.
The Empire : ~60-70 models.

Disney would be funding a 40k series of movies that would likely be given what we have marvel to go by actually pretty damn awesome

Way less of a dedicated market for 40K and Warhammer than there is for Marvel comics.

However I would love to see 40K pop up at Hot topic for all the little scenie weenies and emo kids to wear/collect and gush about their favorite loyalist/heretic primarch! Omg Im so original with my Leman Russ Freki Wolf hood with paws or OMG Lorgar is so misunderstood and bullied

/s/

although if that did happen....I would probably try to work there again just to usher in more and more players to the actual table top

That's funny to picture

It's hilarious, awesome, and sad, all at the same time. Not sure what I would feel.

I'm not a fan of marvel though so it's a good thing that Disney will stay away forever. It'd be weird for them to try to reboot the setting and make it edgy and trendy. It'd just ruin the whole thing.

The Eldar would have a 'Path of the Singer' instead of Harlequins and dance around for twenty minutes for no reason other than to describe their dark hideout as warm and comforting. And a Dark Eldar Archon who murdered his way to the leader of an evil organization over the course of centuries would be killed by some incompetent bimbo with no actual combat training while everyone else conveniently looks the other direction.

And Space Marines would have feelings and Servitors would make childish one-liners to each other about how scared they are. And Necrons... Necrons would prolly end up apologizing after being shown the error of their ways because no villain is beyond redemption (as long as they aren't the main villain). See, the Tyranids had already apologized and are now the pets of Psykers everywhere and like having their bellies rubbed.

Or it is likely that the paid professional would do his job. You all seem to cynically forget that George Lucas was once a very talented individual. Modern culture prefers to think of everything that came before it as like, totally not cool and probably bad for the environment. In fact since 40k is old, but not the cool kind like your disgusting sweater collection, then 40k must be bad for you, like smoking. That's it! 40k is as bad for you as nicotine, and its killing the ozone layer.

Thanks George! See what you've done to the hobby?

It's not cynicism when it's accurate. George Lucas is the one that brought the close up throat CG of that one singer alien, a stupidly long singing section by that long mouthed alien, droids with stupid one-liners in Episode 3 and the cartoon, Jar Jar Binks, the idea that some snotty princess could kill a crime lord who had been around for hundreds of years because everyone else looked outside and many other things aside. The best parts of Star Wars, Rogue Squadron, Fall of the Empire, Yuzong Vong or whatever, Jaicen Solo, Exar Kun, these all happened well away from Lucas.

The Star Wars movies are not good. The ones that were had been ruined by being remastered with added content. His talent was in world building but when he doesn't focus on the grand scope of the world, he screws things up left and right.

are you really putting the Jedi academy trilogy over the original trilogy?
that series was AWEFUL. christ I'd rather watch an entire movie about Jar Jar Binks then read that pile of crap again. hell there's a chapter of "I,Jedi" where you can practially hear Mike Stackpole banging on the keys going "Anderson.. what the hell?"

I don't thank the cave man that made fire for my indoor heater. I don't thank the person that invented glass for the windshield of my car. He built the universe and is also the worst influence on it. To bring it around to 40k, how are those codecies that Matt Ward (is that the right guy?) wrote? Makes more 40k fluff and is attacked for it, even though it's official and in rulebooks.

Considering that there is no "official" fluff (Considered propaganda, written by Heretics or other such things, or written by the victors, which everyone seems to conventionally forget), and the fact that people in 40k Have some serious single issue wonks, not to mention they seem to either forget things or misblame others...

How the hell does George even buy anything? He's retired now, and doesn't own Lucasfilm.
