Subject: TMNT2 (Michael Bay): How on earth did this get a 2nd movie?!
No, he clearly means the two Captain America movies from the 70's starring Reb Brown.

I assume he couldn't be bashing the Winter Soldier. Otherwise his opinion on this forum would never be trusted again. Indeed, he'd probably have to get a new name, license, and start afresh. Nobody would trust anyone who bashed CA:tWS.

But Iron Man 2 didn't have a ten year old boy who magically saved the day. It won a few bonus points when tony agreed he was blowing the kid off, just like his dad did. *
*i don't condone deadbeat parents, but felt this scene was necessary to stifle the pure Disney that was being shoved down our throats.

Ugh, I'd actually forgotten about that (it got lost somewhere between the butchering of AIM, Extremis and The Mandarin ).
Out of everything MCU (or actually, anything Marvel since 2008, X-men and Spidey included), IM2&3 and arguably Hulk are the only ones I wouldn't happily watch right now... And that's having already watched Avengers, Thor TDW, Cap TWS, GotG and DoFP in the last week. They are certainly anomalies in an otherwise Golden Age of comic films, but easily glossed over in light of everything that has come since.

Probably because it's not literal, and is intended as a joke.
BrotherGecko wrote: Bay needs to make characters like April much much more insignificant in importance and screen time. Its like going to see The Avengers and having to sit through 2 hours of Agent Coulson watching the Avengers kick butt. You go to an Avengers movie to see Hulk smash Captain throw his shield and Loki act like Tom Hiddleston. TMNT is about the Turtles first and foremost.
But I hear Bebop and Rocksteady are in TMNT 2 so I guess we have that going for us.
It's pretty much a financial thing. CGI heavy scenes take a lot of resources, especially when the CGI is of the standard expected in modern blockbusters. Filling a screen with two hours of photo-realistic robots or mutant turtles will massively increase the budget, without increasing the expected audience (people who want to see CGI robots or mutant turtles will likely turn up whether they're on screen for 45 minutes or two hours).
“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

Looks fun. Everything that makes Bayformers wrong makes Bayturtles right. Re-watch the original cartoons and you find the movies are right on.
I hope there is lots of funny villain dialog.

Agreed. Let's just hope they actually get more screentime than what looks like Bay's latest hi--larious comic relief black guy.

So a Turtles fan I follow (Doug Walker/Nostalgia Critic) said the trailer actually looked much better than the 1st film. He did a review of that and didn't like it at all.
Having only seen the Nostalgia Critics review of the 1st movie, this one looks much better and sillier like the turtles should be.
Never been a turtles fan, just never got into it, but I'm curious how this'll turn out

The Bay Turtles movie was far from the worst TMNT movie. I know, I have seen them all. I'll watch this one too, just probably not in a theatre.

I think the nostalgia critic summed it up though, the turtles have pretty much spent most of their existence as a form of merchandising to kids. Everything that's come out has largely been variations on that, with one being no worse than the other. I thought the trailer looked good, in that respect, although there isn't enough bytes on the internet for me to describe what i don't like about it. I liked the original comic. But for what it is, it seems decent.
I think Michael Bay actually did a pretty good job with the Turtles, but that is partly because the Turtles are already more suited for his style of movies.
Did anyone else feel like Leonardo was too minor of a character in the first one? It felt too much about Raphael and April. (Though focusing on April was already explained as a budget issue). Either way, I'll wait for it to show up on Hulu or something, rather than blow money on seeing it in theaters.
