I guess it will be CSM.
They are not one of the GW beloved factions.

I doubt we'll see a new 'nid dex anytime soon, why update the codex when, as things stand they can make you buy the codex AND shield of bhaal

Dark Eldar. CSM will get a clearly superior one, but will doggedly maintain that theirs is the worst.

What he said. We were on hard avenue right before the bus turned onto easy street with the cron book. As for when they're going to come back, I'm gonna say the tau. Riptides and broadsides are like the only real competitive things, and they're gonna do something dumb like make riptides GC's, so any "no super heavies" group or tourney where they restrict sh lords of war will be sad times for them.

For them to be in against crons and eldar, they'd need the ability to cap objectives by shooting at them.

Orkz has been that codex 4 editions, tyranids and csm for 2. It's not toning down guys, its your fault for picking an evil faction. Give in to your fate and accept the fact that child-friendly elves are always going to win the day, being overpowered 7 editions straight.

I'm gonna go with CSM's. They seem to like to use that book to pivot design paradigms.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Its gonna be Tau. Their playstyle is inheritedly broken as they only compete in a single phase.

Lorewise they cant assault or use psychic powers. Suits are too heavy an investment for the amount of meq-killers that run around in the current meta. Which means they rely solely on riptides and they will propably get nerfed.

My bet is that the next Tau codex will give them psychic guns.

'Cause warp 'n' stuff...

I'd argue it's already happened. the space Marine formation boosts aren't that great. the only real stand out thing is the free transports if you run a very suboptimal army. (when's the last time anyone has seen a battle company on the board?)

Didn't a ridiculous Orks/CSM/Demon army just win War-gamesCon? It's not so bad, just have to be obnoxiously creative/hateful.

OK, here is what I think will happen IMHO:

Blood Angels - nothing happens, you got your hard back codex so zip

Tyranids - formations which grant free drop beasties, improved shadow of the warp and better synaptic control over the critters

Dark Eldar - formations which turn them into a highly manouverable force, improved webway deployment for alpha strike but still glass cannon

Chaos SM - fetched, another mishmash of units with very little synergy, warp talons can assault the turn they arrive if in a formation and bias toward renegades as opposed to legions

Orks - improved waaaaaagh and better leadership formation, possibility of granting usr fearless

No opinion on impy guard other than more orders per turn and possibly free chimeras

Just my two.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

Well Im going to have to go with Orks because if I remember correctly, they came out with 7th edition and the ork codex dropped giving us a huge power nerf.

I come in peace. I didn't bring artillery. But I'm pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you mess with me, I'll kill you all

If we're mentioning IG, the pessimist in me says it's back to cannon fodder for us humies.
The optimist thinks there's going to be some kind of Russ formation.

All the Russ.

It's hard to have a gimped codex *and* Russes.

Last Sisters Codex was not weak - just limited on options...........Still makes a useful / formidable ally select.

That being said trying to second guess GW is a pretty fruitless exercise................

Every CSM player and their mother's been complaining about GW and the state of the codex. GW decides that it's time the CSM players felt what that was like. To accomplish this, they will make the codex so OP that everyone including the CSM players mother will complain to them for even using such a broken ass codex.

Top units will include:
Mutilators (4D6 charge range and ignore the "unwieldy special rule)
Thousand sons (Getting AP2 bolters)
Warp Talons (No scatter on deepstrike and all units within 6" must test for initiative followed by toughness or be removed as a casualty)

I think formation building is here to stay, I think it's gonna just be what armies get what formations etc.

obviously some armies are gonna be better then others. I mean it's hard to beat the ressurection protocal bonus necrons have.

Chaos. It will be the first codex of the new cycle without formations, I guarantee it

They might even cut out a random* god entirely to split him off into a different book.

* by random I mean Khorne. It's always Khorne.

Lol, everyone voted pretty much the same!

Same here. All the heretics are hunched up in the shadows doing insane amounts of nefarious hand waving and muttering stuff about cereal and anime memes. Just waiting for the moment the 7th ed Chaos Space Marine Codex drops and they get all the sweet game breaking formations, anticipating it with frightful vigor...

.. And then?

Codex: Copy & Paste. New formations? Okay Spikey Marines, take x amount of whatever we feel like selling and get free Drop Pods!

What's that? We forgot to put Drop Pods in the book? Oh well! Give us $70. Now. Because it's a limited run. And we hate you.

I think it could be IG. I'm leaning towards CSM instead though. The reason I say IG is that everything that made them op when they first came out, other armies now copy. Three tanks for heavy support and the such. Also the introduction of such high toughness monstrous and gargantuan creatures means flashlight do even worse now. I don't know could go anyway.
