Some WIP shots of koryvdae, I decided to go with a more true grey color for the skin tone as to show the progression to the final stages of the skin color for raven guard. I also got some work in on the jump pack, and I am pretty happy with the engines, the wings of the raven and the purity seals.

Hmmmmm. Not going well this month, no WIP yet, but could post plenty of DIP (Distractions In Progress). Nice to see other peeps have managed to stay focussed!

Hmm really tempting to open up my copy of the assassins game and do this as a push to get them painted

yeah - loadsa distrctions so far this month. got bugger all done on the harlies barr converting and priming them.......need to get a shift on lol

It ain't too late until the end of the month, so by all means throw up a proof and get cracking!

Really struggling for inspiration myself; nothing near my paint desk even remotely qualifies for the theme. Don't want to sit this one out, but I might need to get creative to come up with something!

I'm feeling similar. I have some more Tanith IG arriving midweek but I'm really disillusioned with the results I've been getting on their camo cloaks so far.
I have the Tank Girl figure but am not inspired, and my original choice is broken.

Theyre likely going to be the colours on the box for Execution Force as I've not really thought about doing them much different.

Would photographing my unpainted Tanith troops storage tray and then picking the 5 I think I painted best by the end of July count as "proof"?
I just don't know if I want to do infantry, CCS or all the single (Tanith) ladies.

I've sidelined TG for now because having arrived, she's absolutely tiny, a teenage girl, delicate Kev White sculpt. I've no idea if I can paint that small yet.

Looking at my Halfling I just don't think he's got enough Zazz....



So I just got an Infinity order in and got a Senor Massacre with it. He looks sneaky... I think I'm switchin!

Hello everyone,

I'm posting a WIP picture of my model, comments and criticism are welcome - as I'm trying to improve my painting with this one.

Nightrunner so far - base-coated and washed:


What do you think? How do you guys think I should go about highlighting? Currently thinking of using blue for the black, light grey for the near-invisible dark-grey kneepads, and some white on the main grey of the uniform. Also, my only knowledge of highlighting is dry-brushing. Would that be the correct method to use in this scenario? Is there any other way to highlight?

@pirate: drybrush works, but layering might be worth a look, it's a good thing to learn. There's plenty of good tutorials out there.

Heres my WIP.. got them built up last night, hopefully get those gun barrels drilled and spray them soon so I can get to work.

I tried a diorama style for this week, hope thats allowed. It was a play on Lictors usually being the hunter.....

Final entry:

This month was sneaking away from me, in a very appropriate manner for our subject. I did manage to start getting some base coats down. Still need to make a lot of decisions on what palette I want to use. Part of the problem with painting outside my comfort zone is I can’t just bang out minis vis muscle memory. I need to think about all the parts, what color I want them to be, and how to get there.

If its any help my research into the Tanith Camo-cloaks found they are made from the same material (cameleoline) as SM scouts. Cameoline takes on the colouration of the surroundings so will be different depending on where they are. My theory was if you match the cloak to the base and therefore the environment then hopefully it will look good and add to their stealth element.

I had this really specific idea of what I wanted out of it.... I want to incorporate terrain basing textures such as grass, leaves and dirt, but my first test subject ended up looking fuzzy wuzzy rather than stealthy.
I collected four different grasses, foliage, mixed it up, and even got tiny laser cut leaves and it still looked like he was carpet.

I guess there's a reason people don't do that crap.

the reason I wanted to, was because I wanted to have seasonal Tanith - Autumn, WInter and Spring/Summer...

finally managed to paint some of the recesses on ONE of my harlies....and then went back to painting an AdMech dragoon and my Knight.......sigh.........
