@Kustomer D: Very cool diorama, those cultists are about to have a VERY bad day!

As for my entry, I'm not sure I'm going to be able to finish my Darkshroud in time. I've been super busy this month and am only just now getting around to slapping some paint on it (other than the crew compartments, which I needed to paint to insert the crew so I could use the model in a tournament).

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

I just haven't been very happy with my conversion's paintjob. Couldn't get anything that really clicked for me. So I am changing my proof to these Pathfinders with Ion rifles, who killed 2 full units of Necron Warriors yesterday!

Bit of a cheeky request, but I painted a mini earlier that would be perfect for this round, but like an idiot forgot to take a Proof pic. Would anyone mind if I entered it in here, taking my word that it wasn't already painted. (I hope you guys think I'm honest enough not to try and cheat my own rules )

If anyone has a problem then I'll just stick with Gollum, but I figured I'd ask.

I trust you Paradigm, but TOO BAD, YOU HAVE TO STRIP IT AND PAINT IT AGAIN

Just kidding, I don't think anyone would think you'd cheated - particularly given how fast you can paint.

Also, I solved my digital camo masking problem last night, should have coat two done this evening.

Still not going to make it, but not ready to really accept that yet

"strip it, strip it, strip it, strip it.....!!!!"

nah - I'm fine with that Para. You may get the same thing happening to a few folk from time to time in future. Forgot to take a proof pic and just jumped straight into painting. nearly done it myself. Happens. Now go build a wee vignette base for it. Cracking entry

You can do it, kb!

Might go and see about doing a dio base for it, actually, that might add to the context a lot!

On a side note, any ideas for themes for next month? Old/new carries over, but that still leaves 3 others!

How about "it's like magic" psiker, magicians, something against physics...

something psyker themed would be pretty cool.

OK, 'It's a Kind of Magic' is one, two to go! Preferably a rank/role and something technique-based.

Have we had an OSL one yet?

I think I did light/fire as an option a couple of months back and I don't think it got much traction. It would also overlap with the magic one potentially, so I'll leave it for now, I think.

'My brother's keeper' as a title. Something that must show/exhibut/personify comrades in arms, camaraderie, etc

I know I suggested it once before, but what about something like "Mechanized Warfare", where entries must be a machine of some kind? Vehicles, robots, gun emplacements, but not simply "guys in power armor" would be allowed.

How about something like "You took my car!" Where you paint up something from one army for a different one. For example paint up Guardsmen as gue'vesa or paint up a heldrake as some tyranid gribbly. Something along those lines I think would be fun.

I like these! Looks like we'll just skip the technical one this time and go with:

Something Old, Something New: retro minis, or new minis in an retro style.
It's a Kind of Magic: Mages, sorcerers, constructs ect.
Rise of the Machines: robots, cyborgs, vehicles and machines.
Looted: repurposed minis in the 'wrong' army.

Sounds good?

Any thoughts welcome!

Wow para, that's something special indeed. Is it plastic/metal? How'd you stop it tipping over?

Those themes sound good.

I had a thought for a future one, "All work, no play." kinda pokes fun at how very serious a lot of the things we paint can be. Leaves room for little in-jokes or Easter eggs, or even just daft ideas.

Nice posing Para, really captures the action.
For the 'looted' theme, could we loot a colour scheme rather than a model? Mostly cause I've always wanted to paint a commissar up in bright harlequin colours looking annoyed.

I think the word you're looking for is fabulous.
Not that I have a bias towards prettifying commissars...

Second colour on my camo done, moving to brush for the scouts. If this actually happens I'll be hilariously surprised!

Thanks to the wonders of modern GW plastic kits, it stands up fine just on a normal 25mm base! It's just a DV Cultist, with a DE Wych and a stolen Harlequin arm.

Nice ideas for themes, everyone! I'm keeping a list, so these might well with turn up in future!

You know I actually have more difficulty moving metal miniatures en masse and keeping them upright than I do with plastic. I always thought that the weight would keep metal upright.

If "Something old / Something new", then "Looted" should surely be "Something borrowed..."?
