I feel like they were definitely going for a more "Ultimate Comics" Colossus. Due to a scene near the end. That's all I'm sayin'

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Not a Deadpool fan but enjoyed it along with the wife.
Kept a good balance. As my wife said we started with some concern that it would be relentlessly hammy but it kept a good balance.

Colossus worked. Apparently they had one guy do the general motion capture and voice (director insisted on a native Russian speaker?) and someone else do the facial motion capture.

Weirdest correlation ever. If someone with established comedic acting chops can play a comedic character then someone else with established dramatic acting chops (admittedly hit or miss from a project choice perspective) will do a good job...in unrelated movies. Yes.

Not to mention Reynolds has been a fan favorite to play the character since before Origins due to his comedic timing and also ability to play an action character. Also he basically played the character in Blade Trinity and was pretty much the highlight of the film.

Affleck, whose previous attempt at a similar role was pretty terrible, being cast as Batman was met with a collective '...bwah?'.

So, is anybody else seeing it multiple times this weekend? I'm going again today with a friend who wasn't able to come yesterday. No costume today though. That's really only appropriate on opening day. And Halloween. And cons. And release on BluRay day. And my birthday.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Not this weekend, but I've already seen it once and I'm going again with my mate when he visits me so he can see it in IMAX (ie the only way it should be watched). He's only ever seen LieMAX! Tragedy, really.

Just got back from second viewing. Still couldn't make out that #comment he made early on (not the one with Negasonic). Anyone wanna spoiler what he said for me?

Round three hits Monday the 22nd when more friends visit.

The wife and I watched Dead pool today. It was hilarious! We both laughed just about the whole time. I highly recommend watching this, I wouldn't argue with someone saying it's one of the better super hero movies.

It's funny because most places have it as 15+ or 16+ (or 14+ for Canada, Portugal and Chile by the looks of it).

It's only R (or equivalent) in the US, Singapore, South Korea, New Zealand, Malaysia, Russia and Hong Kong (?). Not sure about that last one but I'm assuming that III is their equivalent to R.

The F bomb gets dropped about every 15 seconds, there's a full nude scene at a strip club, plus other normal R rated nude scenes, and tons of gore. It earned its R rated title.

Seriously... this movie will be a blockbuster and signal the production companies that 'R-rated' comics would work.

Millar still seems to get one of his books made into something watchable every few years (despite the source material). Miller for that matter as well, although I still haven't seen the second Sin City despite being a big fan of that era of his work.
It's not as though are rated stuff gets ignored. Frankly Deadpool would have had more impact if we weren't also able to watch pretty impressive Daredevil and Jessica Jones on Netflix.
There's not many other (any?) typically R rated characters with the kind of popularity that Deadpool has, and many of the 'adult' books that are really good aren't just good because of nudity, swearing and gore.
I don't think this represents much of a paradigm shift.

It was a good film, fun. I liked it was genuinely a romance film after all. The teenage girls along the row from me also particularly enjoyed the various shots of Ryan Reynolds posterior.

But... did anyone else think it was a lot... tamer than they were expecting? Ok, sure, there was a lot of blood and gore and things. But even then, say, I felt the Batman section of the last BVS trailer was more brutal than anything in Deadpool.

The thought also crossed my mind with: "If people thought the humour in this was majorly risque, I can't help but think that Mrs Browns Boys, Still Game or Chewin The Fat would blow their minds..."

Why would anyone take such a characterful phrase out of the title? It describes everything Deadpool is in 2 simple words!

To quote a fictional character... "Let's make this fun!"

With a lot of swearing, sex, sex references, full nudity and violence, I can't believe it got a 15. Is it only grotesque Human Centipede stuff that gets an 18?

I really enjoyed the film. His face wasnt nearly as bad as the film was trying to make out so having peole act with such horror and the idea his girlfriend would reject him didn't convince. In every other way it was a great film, much enjoyed this valentines!

We both loved it. My wife says it's the best movie romance ever. The only thing she didn't like was the amount of ...limb-related injuries. Trying not to spoiler it, but some things are gruesome without blood and guts.

We almost had to leave after the trailer for The Purge: Election Year, though. Never thought I'd say this, but they could have used a trigger warning on that.

Pretty great movie. I wasn't expecting much going in, but it was a damn fine movie and totally earned its R rating.

I'm not sure if the full nudity was actual full nudity, it looked like it was but I couldn't see any sign of genitals. There was a fair bit of boobage but virtually all the sex was alluded too rather than shown (including the immortal International Women's day)and the gore wasn't all that bad to be honest. Quite a lot of amputations and the like but they were relatively bloodless. Its borderline but I don't think its inappropriate for a 15.

Also you could definitely see a woman full frontal though briefly in the club. I don't think it was inappropriate for 15, but they've clearly relaxed in recent years.

There is a very brief shot of burnt up Freddy Krueger wang in the lab fight scene where everything is on fire, plus full on boob shots in the strip club. Nudity tends to jack up the rating much more than violence these days, kill a hundred faceless goons Rambo style with dismemberment and exploding heads barely a soft R, sneak a flaccid peen into a film you land a hard R instantly.

As for Deadpool setting the curve for mature superheros? I think people forgot about Watchmen rather quickly which IMO certainly pushed a lot of boundries far more than Deadpool. It certainly had a lot of electric blue penis screen time w Dr Manhattan.

Ahem... when Venessa was "riding" ontop, you could see everything except for wienie. That was explicit is it could get w/o going full porno.

And yes, there was a junk shot. I overheard someone in the theater to "watch for it" in the inpaling scene.

The women's international scene was just balls out hysterical.

I saw it yesterday and I thought it was a good movie even though I'm not the biggest Deadpool fan. Of course, having a solo lunch date at the movies while enjoying loaded fries and vanilla milkshake always makes for a good time!

I'll definitely be getting the Blu-Ray of this when it comes out.

I saw both Deadpool and Kung Fu Panda 3 this week. Deadpool was alright but I think I enjoyed Kung Fu Panda a lot more.

I like Reynolds as a comedic actor but too many of the lines felt canned and didn't mesh well with his normal delivery style. Maybe it's the mask and lack of facial expression. Laughed at stuff but not as much as I did with some of his other films where he felt more natural. ::Shrug::
