I do what I can.

And yes, this won't be a fast process. Rest assured, though, that I've been around Dakka for quite some time, now. Aside from my generally upright nature (which you'll all just have to take my word for), I'd not risk my standing here through negligence or malice. Wouldn't even know how to profit from mere names and addresses, anyway!

kb - I'll PM you further contact info.

This is a great exercise in planning too, kudos to kb for masterminding it.

I've been working on the background of a secret charity project for a while, and I'll just say this has been an eye opener, a really useful one.

Not where I should be

Hello all,

So been working on my contribution, a Mek. now I know Bunker Bob has said he will do a Big Mek, so I am aimng for a Mekboy.

Could I have some help here, I don't play (unfortunately) but I do have a codex. Could people please confirm, Mekboyz are not allowed Powerklaws?

My current model, though the left arm is only Tak'd on....

I need to sort his left arm, I do have a normal arm to go there instead, but this just kinda came together and seems natural.

He will have a magnatized weapon on his shoulder mount, at least one will be Kombi-Burna, thus the tank on his back.

Any help ideas are welcome, and please be as critical as you like, I have a thick skin.

Such update, wow.

I now have enough people donating their time and paints to have everyone get a single model. Except Paradigm for some reason, but I'm surprised he hasn't painted the whole army yet.

US and UK shipping goes out this afternoon, Australasian shipping goes out Monday/Tuesday.

PRETTY HAPPY WITH HOW THIS IS GOING

I have a suggestion on return shipping that might save a bit of money;
* Find which country has the cheapest shipping rates. I'm guessing shipping single figs from UK to US and then from US to Japan would be the most cost efficient.
* Find a dakkanite that wouldn't mind bundling them together for you.
* Ship to them to said dakkanite and have him make one lump shipment.

Speaking from ebay experience, overseas shipping will probably be mUUUch cheaper in one go; and shipping a single figure first class to a single location only tend to run $2.30 a fig inside the US.
UK also seems to have cheaper shipping rates to US than visa-versa. (Correct me if I'm wrong, when I order bits from UK it only costs about 2Lb, whereas shipping a 3oz package here to there runs about $9)

I notice my posts seem to bring threads to a screeching halt. Considering the content of most threads on dakka, you're welcome.

If the people shipping back to me can't get the figure to be under 25mm thick, it'll count as a Small Parcel, which is £2.80
Sending the same item back to KB would be £4.45

Food for thought.

I won't have wi fi for a week, I hope Paradigm could spare a Boy for me, if not, I understand.
By the way, I don't have any Orky skin colours, if I, against all odds, find a Boy in my mailbox one day, is it okay if he looks like an Imperial Guardsman?

Para, most unfortunately, I only require the Nob now and not the Boyz - they can still, obviously, be honourary members of the Dakka Dakka Clan, but they will be in the British Division.

As it is, everyone is doing one model, so assuming I get them all back, it should be quite a collection. Add to that the inclusions from benevolent donators, and this should be pretty sweet.

Automatically Appended Next Post:

As for shipping, UK to AU is ridiculously cheap - a big box of stuff will be bugger all.

US to AU is a bit worse, but still not the end of the earth.

As long as everyone gets their stuff in so it is one package coming back, we'll be good.

I updated the op too;

Shipping is happening today (update: it has all shipped) - ALL MODELS ARE ALLOCATED, everyone is getting one single model for maximum randomness. If you still want to join in, you will need to donate - I won't pay for your plastic, but will happily pay for your shipping. I don't mean to be a jerk, but it should be fair to all. Each package that reaches you will have a small set of instructions with it covering the very few requirements for this, as well as return addresses and labels. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS!

So, Buttery Commissar is kb_lock's UK/European distribution center and I'm the one for the US/North America.

kb was kind enough to pre-print shipping labels and instructions, so you North American folks should all have a pretty easy time getting stuff from, and eventually back to, me. If you're a youngin' whose parents wonder who the "this Alan guy from New York" is that's sending their kid mystery packages, that'd be me. Please explain beforehand - I don't want to end up on any lists... I'll ship the whole lot back over to kb when everything arrives, to keep costs down.

Also, since this mob is to be a part of Waaagh Dakka (reread the OP, if this surprises you), head here to see the color scheme. kb_lock seems pretty flexible, but there's already a convenient article to give you a rough framework. I'd recommend running anything particularly 'out there' by him, first.

Notice: The following has not been mentioned to, nor approved by, kb_lock:

If anyone else in North America wants in, contact me through PM. I'm willing to throw in a few extra bucks in shipping cost (I already have Boyz to spare - will have to check stash to see if you'd get AoBR models or bodies and bits from the normal kit including some AoBR slugga boyz) to make sure this project gets done right. This isn't an open offer for free models, just an extra chance for anyone who digs the project and arrives late to the party. There's plenty of time before anything arrives to me from AU, so contact me in the next few weeks if you're interested.

This all seems like a lot to plan, so direct any NA shipping/timing questions to me to keep things simple. Conceptual or international questions, direct to kb_lock. This is his baby, after all; I'm just a wet nurse.

P.S. - Let me know if anything here warrants retraction or amendment, kb. Also, you're planning to photograph and add this mob to the previously linked Waaagh Dakka article, right? Because that NEEDS to happen!

I concur with everything oadie said. In addition, if you want to ship your own painted Ork models to him to join the waaaaagh, I'm happy to pay your postage.

And yes, I'll be taking pictures and adding it to the article for sure

Also, i literally don't care how you guys paint them, as long as you do the best you can.

I would like to either name them after you or have you name them though.

My little Ork nob will be called kiblog, for example

A bit late to the party here, but I love this idea and very impressed that you've managed to get it off the ground so successfully.

I see that you're whole army is accounted for, but if you're still trying to accumulate then I'd like to contribute.

Not painted an Ork in some years mind you, but I reckon I'd manage one or two.

Let me know if you're interested.

Excellent, I'll try get something started in the nest week or 2.

Is the scheme in the article linked above by oadie the one we're following (http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/How_To_Join_Waaagh_Dakka#Step_3_-_Paint_Your_Model)

Does that go for model selection too?

Also, would you rather modern models? Just because I have a few 2nd ed Orks knocking around.

You don't need to follow the Waaagh Dakka exactly, the only real thing is that they should be green and dirty. I like the Waaagh Dakka colour scheme a lot, but what I like doesn't really matter - if you want to put blue highlights or clothes on them, go for it. Orks are a ragtag bunch of filth, that will come together really well in a random "do what you feel is best" fashion. I don't want to provide a ton of direction - I trust all of your respective judgements.

Any edition of orks will do - whatever you feel looks good. If WHFB orks will fit in to some degree, they would also be fine.

Consistent base theme you have found - there isn't one. Not attached to the base or simply primed - no idea what I will do yet, but it is better if I do them all at once.

KB, this is an awesome idea! I can't believe you actually got this together in such a short time. If you are willing to take on another Warboss (or nob, though he'll be quite sore about the demotion), I have an ork that I'd be willing to donate. He's a mix of WHF and 40k ork bits for a snakebite feral army that never really got off the ground.

I present to you: Blacktoof, and his trust squig Da Hoppa!

Obviously I need to strip him back to bare plastic and remove the base. But if you're willing to take him, he can be a representative of the feral orks and those who stick to the good old ways of bashing face in with metal and leather.
