Afraid I'm only at the undercoat stage at the moment. I've done a few minor mods just to make them look less like every other AOBR boy and added one of my own AOBR model just because.

I remembered this post from the forums and found it again, quite useful if you want to do some easy changes to the boyz.

I pretty much did just that too. I didn't even cut all the way, just enough to bend the limbs more into line with the lines of the miniature so it's a more natural and dynamic pose. Then I added a biker head I had lying around and a wee gunsight and some more spikes just for fun. He's nearly done actually, pics to follow soon.

The sensible thing would be to just legally change your name. Or just head down to pick it up in full commissar regalia.

I can understand the post office’s reluctance. How do they know you are the real you, and not I Can’t Believe It’s Not Buttery Commissar? With all the packages they deal with, there is not a lot of margarine for error.

that really made me laugh. I think all BC needs is some Dakka branded business cards. Something official looking to use as ID in just such an occasion. It seems this is becoming a more common problem, maybe there's a niche market in it.

It's not very mobby, likely because she was scared that putting them too close together might cause an accident.

Probably not a misplaced fear, my boy Gorgutz looks ready to start a fight with the rest of them there and then! *sniff* he's turned out a true Ork. I'm so proud!

My Dakka-Clan ork is all ready to post!
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/745779-.html?m=2

This fella goes by the name of Uzkop.
Starting with a regular AoBR boy I swapped the head for an ork biker head and added some spikes to the sides of the helmet. I offset the angle of the head to follow the lean of the body and adjusted the angle of the leading gun arm to match. I added an orky gunsight just for fun. Then I twisted the angle of the knife at the wrist into line with the line of the trailing leg and added a vintage gorkamorka stickbomb at the back.
Paint-wise he's all dark greys, browns and black with rusty metals and as many checkerboards as made sense. Overall going for the dark gritty look but the blue goggles and red on the pistol help alleviate the gloom. I'm pretty chuffed with how he turned out even if he's not as slick as some of the other lads we've seen already.

And just for fun here's a Dakka-Clan ork on tour pic outside carrickfergus castle.

Three little Orks and a biker have arrived safely today.
Barely awake (myself) but all undamaged.

Sorry for the extended silence - had two deaths in the family in the past few weeks. Not as if my world is crumbling to pieces, but much of my Dakka time has been redirected towards relatives.

The North American contingent of Boys is still awaiting shipment, as you've guessed. I feel bad about how long it's taking to get them out (even warning that I'd be slow - I never thought I'd be this slow...), so I'm going to add a little orky "converter's care package" to each boy that (eventually) ships out. Nothing fancy, just a small apology and token of goodwill - some assorted bits from the box, a few scraps of styrene, some microbead rivets, or the like. They can be hoarded, used for your contribution, cannibalized to make trophies for your own army... whatever you'd like.

Still no real ETA on shipment... but it's been bugging me, so you can rest assured that I'll be doing my best to get them out as soon as I'm able.

Thanks for the update oadie. Worry about your family ahead of man-dollies dude, obviously.

I'm sure all the north-ameribros that volunteered for this are happy to wait man, get to it when you get to it.

Hang in there mate

Having just found out how many Mordians I have, I'm thinking of aping this project with volunteers or commission painters and sending out a dozen sergeants, then painting the squad to match each on their return.
I'd be sort of fethed if I didn't get them back though.

That'd be most kind of you.
Though seeing as it's you, and we know you don't eat or nick the figures, please pick what you'd actually find most fun:
Mordian Lieutenant (looks like a very angry commissar in a cuirass, has a Chainsword and belt made of bullets)
Mordian sergeant (looks like a less angry but still grumpy man with a Chainsword/powersword)
Tanith (male or female) - if you are interested in painting a regional camo for your country, I'll match the squad to it. I wanted to do this one on a wider scale like the Orks, but they're very hard to replace.

Swerving back on track... Mum photographed the latest arrivals.

She does, the embarrassing thing is I'm the one with the photography degree and I take this gak on my phone.
I'll send a hitch hiker back with the Orks. Just don't attack it with a spanner or whatever it is you ended up doing to Trevor.

There's only one long las, which is Mad Larks - I've already done him. But I do have a second that you can have for keeps - I don't run snipers, so he'd just be sitting here. Well, squatting.
I'll snap some pics and PM you to avoid mucking the thread up more.

For anyone wondering 'what's with the 2nd ed. Ork and Gretchin?' I'll explain. Back when I first played 40k these things were everywhere, they were worse than the old plug-a-bolter marines they came in the box set with. And when my Gorkamaork collection approached army size I gathered them up and bulked out my greenskins with the ubiquitous box-seters. Ever since I've always had them In any ork army I've ever fielded and they funnilly enough seem to be some of my best troops (maybe cause I used them to represent 'ard boys) anyway, the long and the short of it is that no ork mob (IMO) is complete without them.
Uzkop picked them up on the Irish ork Heritage tour, they go by Ted and Dougal.

To be fair, Orks do need sidekicks. I have a small grot with a bandana I was going to add with my Ork, to represent the rest of my family here.
