LOL

But seriously, current rumor talk is - and it makes sense - Games Workshop decreased the price of the box prior to release and Warhammer Visions which is produced three months in advance is actually outdated. Hyperbole aside this a quite good, rational conclusion.

Not bloody likely. I already have 30 Russes. 31 if you count the Bombard. I don't need another.

Do you know the joke with the guy buying 99 bread rolls?

Wait wasn't the HH price advertised as $150 for preordering? Now it's $185 in WD? Which one is right?

It's not WD. It's Visions.

Visions, supposedly, has a lead time of 3 months plus. There was reports around that timeframe of the price dropping down.

Can't it just be that case that it's cheaper if you pre-order?

It's common to offer perks to enthuse people to pre-order stuff. Of course it's more effective if you actually tell people that the price will be higher in normal retail, but this is GW after all, so...

Highly improbable. It's a typo or, as people said, an "old" price that went to print before changes were made.

That said, it looks likely GW at one point planned to sell the box at this price, before somebody made the (rather sensible) decision to shave off 20 quid and stay under a hundred.

GW don't do that much limited edition, they generally do 'while stocks last'. That gives the impression something has limited availability without legally preventing them from releasing it again later.

I'm pleased as punch, I don't want the minis being limited edition. I want the new assassins, the broodlord that came with that boxed set etc all available. In case I want to buy them...

Yeah pretty much all of their plastics will make a return. The molds cost too much to make a few copies. They release the plastic minis in limited sets with the intention of selling them around a year or two later by themselves.

We will see the terminator captain from strike force ultra and sace wolves krom again too.

How? Raising the price on something is courtworthy now, is it?

Here's hoping we see the limited edition Captains from a few years back as well. I am definitely getting that Chaplain. So awesome!

False advertising is.

If you go in to purchase a set for the listed price that the preorders are at(which has no mention of it being a "preorder exclusive price" or any other garbage) and it instead is listed for more?
That's false advertising and companies have gotten in trouble for it.

Cool.. an extra $35 wouldn't make me not buy 1 since it's still a good deal for the minis, but it would make me not buy 2 when I want more later... as long as it's not more ROB shenanigans where they listed it for like $150 and then all the sudden it was twice as much when they released it.

Preorders being a cheaper price is pretty common practice.

Preorders being a cheaper price is pretty common practice.

For independents, maybe. But independents usually make it clear that it is a preorder price.

And that's the point I'm trying to make and you're seeming to fail to grasp. Deceptive advertising, such as "Buy X for $50! In stores next Saturday!", can get you in trouble.

From my A-level business studies, in UK law an advertised price is an invitation to treat, the price is only fixed at the till. A business is in no way forced to sell you something at the sticker price, but they must take action to attempt to correct displayed prices if alerted to a mismatch. So if a shop puts a £1 sticker on a £30 item I cannot force them to sell it to me for £1. However if they do make a mistake and sell it to me for £1 rather than £30 they have no legal basis to ask for the difference.

Back when Shield of Baal - Deathstorm was released a few people pointed out that Karlaen is not a limited edition model and that GW said in the Deathstorm description on their webshop something like "At this point only available through the set".

I think one of the most depressing rumors in 2015 was that Games Workshop would plan to release more and more limited edition miniatures.

Hopefully this is not the case and the potential price gouging via ebay like with the As-long-as-stocks-last 40k buildings will not be the norm in the future of the game.

Models being sold out within minutes is ridiculous.

Found the same quote on Amazon - the GW webshop link is 404

Shield of Baal: Deathstorm contains the Blood Angels Strike Force Deathstorm, and the Tyranids' Phodian Annihilation Swarm. The Blood Angels are led by Captain Karlaen - a brand new Space Marine Terminator Captain, whilst the Tyranids are led by The Spawn of Cryptus - a brand new Tyranid Broodlord model. Both of these miniatures are currently only available in this set.

Also

This box set contains 25 Citadel miniatures, including: 1 Blood Angels Terminator Captain, 1 Furioso Dreadnaught, 5 Death Company Space Marines, 5 Space Marine Terminators, 1 Broodlord, 8 Genestealers, 3 Tyranid Warriors and 1 Carnifex. It also includes a Deathstorm transfer sheet, 1 Dreadnaught Base, 6 x 40mm Round Bases, 5 x 32mm Round Bases, 9 x 25mm Round Bases, 3 x 50mm Round Bases, 1 x 105mm Oval Base and 1 x 75mm Oval Base.

Yes, very carefully worded to open the door to selling on their own in the future - And a sensible move at that (though the price is a bit eye-watering ).
