Two time NBA champion Lamar Odom, is on life support and in a coma after being discovered unconscious in a legal brothel in Nevada. Reports are he was taking cocaine, "herbal Viagra", imbibing some cognac, possibly taking other drugs and had been there for quite some time.

He was a key part of the Lakers last two championship teams winning a sixth man of the year award. I'm not a Lakers fan but was impressed with him as well as sad to see his precipitous career decline. Gotta hope that if he pulls through he can get it together and he will finally have hit the bottom. Plenty of Lakers he played with seem to still have a connection with him. He really seems like a decent guy, who struggles with demons.

It doesnt sound like he will, multiple strokes and multiple organ failures is what I have heard.

The ESPN article I linked to says he's made small progress whatever that means. Suggested some reason to hope for improvement. Sounds like he could have been non-responsive for a long time before getting any care (several hours alone, then couldn't fit in the helicopter and needed hour long ambulance ride). Long delay getting care makes your account highly plausible. Where did you get that info?

ESPN may be basing that article off of jessie jackson and his "claims". The dude said he spent thirty minutes with lamar, when the doctors said he spent around three and was ushered out by the hospital staff.

Who cares? Some celebrity died of an OD in a whorehouse.

There are a lot of other deaths in this country that are a lot more heartbreaking.

A bit of respect here. He looks like he may have OD'd in a brothel, can any of you think of a better way to go out?

Sorry Alpharius, I have little sympathy for someone who literally has everything and doesn't have to worry about anything except his health....and what does he do? Fething ODs. Celebrities who OD might as well be ridiculed, it will help the youth of the world realize not to repeat those mistakes.

If that is true it is because you're cold person Ghazkuul. The kind of thoughtless unkind person that intentionally or not does just a tiny bit every day to make the world a worse place. Though really I'd be that's just the persona you project in order to look tough on the internet.

Truly, the only thing worse than people caring are people that just have to tell you how much they couldn't care less.

Let's all get back to the topic at hand, which isn't our opinion of other's views. Express your points politely or don't express them. Saying "I don't care that X is dead" is hardly polite, but neither is calling someone else out for their opinions as has started to happen here. Both sides need to cool down.

We all have demons, and some of us fall further than others.

This takes "going down in a blaze of glory" to a new more interesting level.

Honestly, I would rather see news covering Veterans who struggle with their demons, and how they do, or do not over come them. Im with Ghazgull on this one. Its tragic, but not national news worthy. Lets turn it into a learning point for the youth of our nation, that fame does not equal the ability to do what you want without consequences.

I don't disagree; this barely seems like news. I know I never heard of him before he took to many drugs at a brothel and made multiple newsfeeds. The fact that ex-ball players, basketball or not, have money problems has been a known problem for some time.

Darwinism isn't a belief system, its a scientific theory. Its true whether people believe in it or not. Nor does "weak" and "strong" play into it, but rather something like "able to survive and reproduce in the current environment".

What you seem to be a big believer in is eugenics. Do you believe people with poor eyesight should be able to breed, or do you think that serves to "weaken the species"? And by the same token, do you believe that hospitals and medical care should exist at all, or do they just giving the "weak" a chance to further "weaken the species"?
