Hey guys, I have been taking a break from the ork fort to see if I can have a go at making some custom Ork vehicles. The aim of this current project is to have an Ork big rig and trailer that can be used in Gorkamorka scenarios and maybe even as scenery for 40k games.

Here are the progress pictures so far:

The trailer has been designed so that I can put magnets on it to have a front and back area for modules, so I can mix and match the front and back of it for different layouts depending on what I need them for.

Here is a video of it from a few days ago (before the exhausts and trailer work began):

All feedback is of course welcome and if anyone can come up with ideas for modules for the trailer are even more welcome!

Cheers for looking!

Dude, this is awesome. Very cool to see the evolution of the model in the pics you've posted. my mind is swimming with ideas of what could go on the back of this thing! Maybe a giant rocket with hydraulics to angle it for launch, or you could go along Ian wyatts style and just have it as a giant transport for a bunch of ork boys! Can't wait to see what you come up with

Might I ask if you get your plasticard locally or online? i'm always hesitant to buy online since I can't see it to determine if it's the right size for my own projects.

Yeah the dimensions are about right!

Thanks! I love your ideas! I actually plan to have lots of different attachments, and each will either take up half or all of the trailer, I think the giant rocket would be a full length one with it's launching railings! I am a huge fan of Ian's stuff and have actually spoken o him a fair bit recently since I took his lead an started doing this stuff. He liked my Crane so much tat he has built 2 of his own to go on the back of his new Ork ship!

I get my plasticard A4 sheets of it from ebay usually, I tend to work with 1mm thick stuff for structural stuff, and 0.25 - 0.5mm stuff for detailing. I have a Silhouette cutting machine that can cut designs from my PC which cuts the 0.25mm stuff which I hope to use for some projects soon, I haven't used it in a while so might be rusty.

For the rods and tubes etc.; I have been getting them from hobby.uk.com as they do everything I need including the glues and knives so I can put in a big order for all at once.

Hope to put up a video of the trailer tonight so will get some better views of the Trukk details compared to my dodgy phone camera, so will post that once it's up.

Thanks for your comments guys!

It will score plasticard that is thicker than 0.25mm so you can snap straight lines, and it will most of the time do clean cuts on 0.25mm. If you are curious, I have videos up last year some time of it and here is an example of what it can do with 0.25mm:

The building in the background is scored and snapped using the machine, I can churn those things out like a factory. lol

Started work on the most basic of trailer attachments, a full flat bed (in two haves). Will be moving on to a few more complicated attachments before I paint this sucker!

Here's the vid showing the attachment/detachment in action:

I can totally see this as some sort of troop transport with railing on the sides or adding a cage on the flatbed for some unruly squigs.
Btw great video, the magnets are a good idea!

Thanks guys! I like your idea of the cage home_brew!

I have made another attachment to the trailer last night, do you think it's too big? or is it just big enough to be Orky?

I am hoping to do a video of the tanker attachment soon as this pictured don't pick up any of the detailing on it's surface< I will put that up when it's done.

Thanks for looking!

I really like it but there is a part of me thats thinking the tank on the back slightly too big vs what the actual truck could haul considering that there is still room for a potentially "heavy" piece on the other platform. I think offsettig it with something "light" like the cage idea would bring it together. I like that you are keeping it modular so you can switch out your options. Are you going to add anything like a walkway along the top of the tank?

Thanks for your comment, I know what you mean! I was worried about it's size when I made it, but now that I think of it as an Orky contraption, the size seems to add to it's charm for me. In terms of the balance of the trailer I think it will as you say definitely depend of what it's put next to, and I have many, many ideas that have been provided by the community for attachments, so I am use one (or a few) will fit the bill.

The planned use of this model and the tanker in particular is for a Gorkamorka game where players have to get one of their boyz up onto the platform and stay there log enough to 'nick' some oil and get back onto their trukks without going down/falling off) so I am thinking another platform with a few railings, ladders and oil barrels (maybe a small crane to lift the barrels) might be in order

Here's a quick update of how it is looking now with a little more detailing:

Don't forget this is Orc mechanics 90% of what they build and create would not move let alone pull or fly, so you have to take it with a pinch of salt plus as long as it gets painted red it can pull anything.

I think you need to make the next section the fueling station or at least part of it, add a load of pipes coming from the tank some dials and valves hey presto, maybe a seating area with cage for the fuel attendants and weapon rack.

Details are looking awesome! Yeah It's hard with orks sometimes as trying to mix logic with orkiness rarely works. Looking at some of my own stuff I often think it would fall apart instantly if it were real. Any chance we could get a side profile on your next update? Also, what clan are you going with for your orks? I saw you used some blue on your modular fort, Dare I say Deathskulls?

So cool! This is the sort of stuff that kept tempting me to try Orks again. Hate their play style but love the creativeness that Ork players have

Yeah I agree, I have started working on a small platform on the one end that can either hang over the back or over the platform, it will eventually be somewhere that has outlets for the tank, like an oil drum filling platform (you will see the start of it on the pics at the end of this post).

Thanks! I will put some profile pics up for you at the end of this post. As for clan; I am not sure, this is designed to be a 'Notmob' (NPC) vehicle for use in Gorkamorka scenarios so it's not really part of an army or mob.

Cheers! If you want to get into Orks without the pressure to collect a whole army, just made a Gorkamorka Mob!

You know, it's funny, I've been following the progress on this build on my Facebook feed the past few days. It's nice to find it here, too. Where I can give meaningful feedback. I really like the frame you've made and the level of detail is fantastic. It's really coming along. Subscribed.

Thanks guys! Not much more progress has been made in the last few days a I have been unwell, but I am planning on putting the last few finishing touches to the tanker attachment.

Here are some pictures of the riveting of the tanker:

Did I go too far with the rivets?

The base trailer still needs A LOT of work yet to make it 'Orky' to my standards, I have been working on some armoured wheel covers for the trailer wheels, here is how it looks now:

I think the top of the week guards will be blocked in though i'm not sure if I am happy with the results yet, so all feedback is very welcome!

I have decided that the tanker attachment is now officially done, so I will be moving my attention to the trailer base fully from this point until I start work on the next attachment.

Cheers! I am reluctant to paint this beast as I am quite proud and fond of it, and the last thing it needs is my dodgy colour-blind attempts at painting it

I exposed the world to the way I work last night in a live stream on Youtube, though it quickly turned into a tutorial on how I scratch build cylinders out of plasticard, here is that video for those who are curious:

Hey guys,

So I made a second one of the tanks in the video above and have now added them to the trailer, there is some detail work like pipes etc. to be added, but I think it adds to the character of the trailer nicely.

The first two pictures are of the different trailer attachments and how it now looks with them in place;

This is the trailer naked:

Here are two close-ups for the tanks, the blue you can see is from pen I used to draw around the first to make the disks for the second one (the second one is actually bigger as a result, but that just adds to the 'Orky' look)

As always, comments and criticism are very welcome!

Thanks for looking!
