Could they be doing tiles that fit with the existing Hulk tiles?

Count me in the camp that would've preferred more obscure chapters. Heck, new ones would've been cool. I understand that it would have been more expensive in both design man hours and possible sales lost by not selling to some First Founding fans, but with their plastic tech and monopose models they could've made some crazy unique SM. A Rhino-totemed Termi and a Gorilla chapter Assault Marine, a skull-collecting, psi-scythe wielding Scripto, a Samurai SM, whatever.

No one says you can't have them as successor chapters. Most share a lot of iconography with their first founding chapters. That and it'd be super easy to convert some up.

**edit: While GW does make some silly decisions a good bit, they know that their first founders chapter stuff will sell well. Granted, pretty much anything Space Marine will sell well.
@HBMC: ok not face melted just yet if it is him, but I imagine seeing pretty much all of your chapter getting eaten will have the grudge-o-meter on maximum overload.

Eh, it's not the ease of conversion or making them another chapter myself, I've done elaborate conversion work before. Whole sculpts, actually (and i'm more a "death to the false Emporer" kinda guy, though I love me some loyalists, FF chapters includes). But it's different from GW introducing some new chapters into their line with their own dedicated minis. It gives people without hobby skills like my brother morw options and it'd production capability used for something truly new and it might capture people's imagination in a big way. It was so cool when Armageddon brought Salamanders love, Black Templars were a nice additon before they became flavour of the month, etc. I'm ready for something fresh getting attention, that's all. Especially chapters with iconography and bling that's really different from existing kits.

But hey, if it's really just ten Marines (SH had 12 Termis, 13 if you count the dead one on his throne, which makes ten regular SM seem a bit lacking) I guess I'm happy that there's Iron Hands, Salamanders and Raven Guard love instead of even more wolfsword wielding wolfmarines shooting wolfbolts

And it's true, the real winners here should be the GC fans, getting the cultists and hybrids and the limo right is way more important than better SM.

There is almost always a proper pictute release on Monday so we should know the details by then. If this is actually a straight up space hulk expansion and not just a clone then I am all in.

I was under the assumption it was a stand alone game, is this not the case?

I believe it's a stand alone one based on the old space hulk expansion that featured cult before vs I think it was Dark Angels?

There was an expansion called Deathwing, which allowed you to kit out your terminators in new and interesting ways, and brought in some additional rules for multi-level games and a mission generator.

Then there was an expansion called Genestealer which had rules for Hybrids, Psykers, new weapons and Grey Knights.

Bit of a missed oppurtunity not to change the skin tone in the cover art... they should be going more towards human skin coloring per generation, seems odd to have an almost human dude still completely stealer colored. Fortunately, I get to choose what paints I use, but still, would have made for a cooler GW scheme

Having done some googling it seems that this could be based on the space hulk campaigns book, which despite owning the original Space Hulk and Deathwing I had never even heard of until now. The book features regular space marines going up against Hybrids and purestrain stealers. It sounds interesting.

If you look for it, I think you could find that book fairly easily.

The book had rules for all kinds of stuff, including regular marines, hybrids etc, but if I am not crazy also rules for daemons and regular IG too besides a few others. It basically was a DIY type thing to use other models in SH.

Overkill? Really? I thought Deathstorm was a cheesy name, but Overkill is pretty bad. These names have to come from a meeting of non-creative types, right? Upper management has a meeting with Bob from accouting and some of his staffers, and the Studio is just told the product name when it comes time for them to bodge something together with the rules and art. I can't believe anyone who calls themself a writer would come up with the legit product name Overkill unless they were trolling their boss.

Those rules were also in WD. I don't think the game is based on them - you could only field whole squads (tactical, devastator...) of PA Marines and their only strength was that you had more of them compared to Terminators (and they died quickly... ). Hybrids were introduced in Genestealer as an option - the mission with PA Marines (Denzark's Hammer) didn't use them.

The DW Marines on the other hand look like individuals with (I guess) special rules.

It was just a compilation of WD articles. Basically 4 campaigns (...) + rules/single mission for Traitor Terminators and PA Marines. And some cardboard tiles.

If GW called me and said they were going to make a boardgame with named Deathwatch Marines that tie in with RPG supplements, and a Genestealer Cult as antagonists, I would have to recommend against making it a Space Hulk expansion. And, I LOVE Space Hulk. I would point out that Space Hulk is out of production. So, that is a Buzz Kill for some customers. And, that Space Hulk is optimized for Terminators vs Genestealers. Power Armor and bad guys with guns will require more than a reprint of the old rules to work seamlessly. I would tell them that the Assassinorum "system" is slightly more flexible, more easily able to portray unique characters, and better for guys shooting at each other. And, I could be soooo very wrong.

Well colour me excited, I've been away and when I come back this is what I see, it's all reminding me of Space Crusade, and wondering whether it will be a similar play style, must get me some boxes, I was looking for a board game to keep me amused as well as Mordheim

The game? The rules were on their website for some years so it shouldn't be that hard to find the pdf somewhere.

I have suspected for a while now but now am 100% confident most photo leaks are intentional. It's just defies logic that there are NEVER clear photos. Most cell phone cameras have such good auto-focus you would have to TRY to take a blurry pic of a stationary object.

around 130-135€ with GW $-€ conversion

betrayal 150$ = 125€
cadian defence force 165$ = 135€

prices DW: Overkill
200CAD / 165$ US/ 135€ / 105£

How much was Calth toted at when that was first revealed? I'm expecting it to have a similar degree of content, so similar price. I know the price was reduced for BaC, but I don't tend to buy direct from GW so have no idea of their idea of pricing

Presumably £100 then or about a million yen. Going by that price here is my prediction of the contents
11 marines, 1 broodlord, 1 magos, 5 purestrains, 10 Hybrids, 15 cultists. that would be 5 more models than BAC.
