While the model is cool, I'd find it a lot better if he carried his staff with 2 hands instead of the stupid little sword (though it should be a fairly easy conversion to do). I also hope he isn't as big as the size comparison with the BT makes him out to be. Not only would I find it weird if it was the case, but also because I feel the BT is the maximum size a miniature can be (one of the reasons why I dislike Magnus)

I think this is one of the best models and paint jobs ever done by GW and is making me want to buy this LoC even though I don't have any intention of making a chaos army in my life.

This model puts a lot of the FW stuff to shame too in my opinion and sets the bar extremely high for GW. I thought nothing would get cooler than Saint Celestine this year for big cool model releases and was proven wrong.

I should have said '' I feel the BT is the maximum size for an organic (or more appropriately, a non-vehicle) miniature''. I'm fine with a titan (and others huge war machines) being a little bit bigger, and of course there will be some exceptions here and there, but overall, bigger than that and they start looking like kids toy to me.

Which are ridiculously sized. Maybe accurate scalewise but makes gaming hard.

Problem with the constantly increasing size is that board sizes don't keep up. Same amount of models take up bigger % of board than they did 10 years ago. This is only made worse by constant increase in model size.

This means reduced room to manouver which in turn leads to more boring and less tactical games unless you up the board size. I can barely fit 6'x4' to my room. Any bigger than that is hopeless. So either I get less tactical games or I decrease game size dramatically. This keeps up and even kill team is too large!

Yes! Imagine a spruce in box or an upgrade with god-specific wings and/or weapons. I'd pay for that.

the design of the LOC was made decades ago, and it's not supposed to be bigger than a BT

Do you mean LoC's in general? or this particular sculpt ? When you say "decades" one would assume at least 2, so your saying this model was designed in 1996? If your referring to the current sculpt I just find that skeptical. But if you mean the general design of what a LoC is was designed 20-30 years ago I guess that makes sense.

The Dark Crystal was released in 1982.

I think I heard mention of an Arcanites starter box and it's contents. Is my Tzeentch addled brain playing tricks on me or is there something?

Yeah, LoCs take obvious draw from TDC. They are instantly recognizable as Skeksis (sp).

I agree, I want one and don't have a Chaos army either.

As for putting FW to shame, it better for the prices they have been charging.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

I always assumed the size of all the greater daemons to be different variations of massive !

One type being bigger than another is neither here nor there to me, although I could see why they would be a pain on the gaming table, just like titans they seem more appropriate for epic scale games rather that 40k.

Amazing. So much better than Magnus. I still don't like the way GW does plastic feathers without a lot of texture (Kingdom Death e.g. has MUCH better done ones), but the pose, build (just the right amount of skinny-fat naked birdyness ), paintjob, all excellent.

I would like the model even more if it was shrunken by a third or so, though, as I simply enjoy MINIatures more and I dislike the trend towards taller minis

And blast it, GW, add a few more Brimstone Horrors to that base. Two of them isn't much of a swarm, is it. Look at Nurglings and how cute the living tide of tiny fatties is in comparison.

Looking for a Skaven Doomwheel banner to repair my Nurgle knights.

That new lord of change is the kinda model that makes me want to start a whole new army around it.. so hard to resist, but I know I'd end up just buying a bunch of stuff, just paint a handful, and then eBay it all 3 yeas later (as usual) :(

Though.. he would look nice painted up with the tzeentchy goodies from silver tower. Maybe I'd paint them all. Maybe...

must. resist. spending. xmas. bonus.

I have never been a Chaos player but the lure of those Thousand Sons models was just too much to resist. I'm probably going to have to get Magnus, a LoC, and a bunch of Tzangors as well now.

KD:M cleaned me out too, but then I started selling out a lot of the GW stuff I don't use anymore to cover the cost... and did it so succesfully I might be able to buy mr Big Bird anyway. Oh, to be an addict.

Atia said we're getting more Daemon models. I really hope we get new Princes. We needed that about as much as new Lords.

Blood Angels, Custodes, Tzeentch, Alpha Legion, Astra Militarum, Deathwatch, Thousand Sons, Imperial Knights, Tau, Genestealer Cult.

I have a problem.

Being contrary for the sake of being contrary doesn't make you unique, it makes you annoying.

Why? Princes are great. And you can mix plenty of stuff in with them. Or create your own. Ogroid from ST mixed with any feathered wings makes for a great DPoT.

I know it's subjective, but I think theyre one of the worse Daemon sculpts in Warhammer.

Did we ever manage an image of the kairos heads that are allegedly included in the box? Cause I definitely want to run one as kairos....although dang that omniscient oracles formation....SUCH a good excuse to need two of those boxes!

There's nothing 'alleged' about it. The GW community guys straight up said that the box can make Kairos.

But they haven't posted the pic yet. Today's major post was about the new Gangs of Disappointing Terrain box.

Indeed. The kit hails from the time when everything was angular. Kinda like when consoles went to 3d...

Of course I still bought one when I saw it for $5 at a resale shop.

IMO the daemon price kit is good; while the options are limited the model is assembled in such a way that encourages conversion. However, its an old kit and that definitely shows. Its getting to the point where converting with bits from more recent kits contrasts with the lesser detail enough to be distracting.

Also End Times and Sigmar has given us quite a few new models that make good daemon princes for various powers- Ogre Thaumtage, Drycha, Thanquil/Bonerippa, Morbidex, Gorgon/Cygor, Morghasts, others.

If I recalled, it was also a kit that GW had made, but then sat on it for a long time before releasing it. It looked abit dated compared to other kits that came out around the same time if I recall.
